Not sure about where you live, but in most places, having a loaded gun in the car is illegal. For someone that has a checkered past like Hernandez, it's incredibly poor judgment.

It is NOT illegal to have a loaded firearm in your car if you are a licensed carrier (indiana). If you do not have a license to carry, you're allowed to have an unloaded gun out of your immediate reach for transport purposes i.e. just bought the gun, taking the gun to a range etc). "Out of your immediate reach" would be considered in your trunk or otherwise secured in a case semi-disassembled and unloaded. Removing the receiver accomplishes this, as the receiver is actually the only part of the gun that is, and must be, registered.

If you see me in the grocery store, driving down the street or at the movies, I have a fully loaded Glock .45 on my side at all times.  Carrying an unloaded/unchambered gun on your side is straight dumb. There's a reason why police carry hot at all times, and that reason is reaction time. If you ever need to use your gun, it's not like in the movies where you ALWAYS see them load a round and say something witty.

In Illinois they actually look for Indiana plates traveling through, because they know we carry guns. Their police have openly admitted to pulling over Indiana residents just to look for guns.

Well, since he's an athlete, he will probably be allowed to turn himself in on his own terms.  Police would have come and dragged a nobody like me out of my bed in the middle of the night.

I would consider him very volatile and dangerous at this point. He was turned away from Gillette stadium yesterday, asked to leave, likely for the reason I included above.

We all remember what happened at the KC Chiefs facility last year. If he did have anything to do with this murder, he is likely understanding that his life of stardom and privilege is suddenly over with. Such a realization brings cause for many to act out in one last volley of violence, taking their own lives as a result, and often others with it.

I would not think they would dally much in apprehending him. It will be done by this afternoon.

Very well said, I'm carrying most of the time as well (Springfield XD40 sub-compact) and it's always chambered. I've always said "it's better to carry a gun and not need it, than to need a gun and not be carrying it." There are thousands of law abiding, responsible citizens across the country that carry firearms. I learned very quickly while I was getting ready traveling out of state that Illinois really frowned on concealed carry/personal arms in general. Normally, I'll contact the state in which I'm traveling to make them aware that I'll be through their state with my concealed firearm and every state, besides Illinois, has honored that permit.

No intentions of hijacking this thread :2c:

AH and his lawyers were most likely meeting with the DA first thing this morning to cut a deal involving his full cooperation. EVERYONE flips when looking at life. He will be in custody in a very short time.

I carry a MP9 most days in MA but don't keep one in the chamber. I just like the extra safety factor and can rack one faster than you could remove the safety.

Glocks don't have manual safeties.

I treat my gun like a bomb, never do I handle it to show it off to others, or otherwise remove it from it's level 3 safety holster unless I'm preparing to shoot it, disassemble it or clean it.

I see. I'm not familiar with the Glocks as they pre-ban only here in MA. The MP has no external safety also and I'm just not comfortable with one in the chamber. MA is getting tougher every year. People here stock up to stay ahead of the laws.

Ooh, I didn't even think about that. Must have been a scary moment for the people who were at the stadium. I wonder what he was up to and where he is going now...

That is a good point, and I admit that never even entered my mind..

His reputation and name are forever ruined but he'll make money playing in the NFL after the commissioner is done with him. It won't be for the Patriots that's is for sure. He'll see very little jail if any (assuming he's not the shooter and gives full cooperation). We've learned this from the past.

No-one, at this point in time, knows what the outcome will be.    I do agree his reputation and name has been forever changed, whether he is/was the shooter,  or accomplice,  or just covering up for a buddy.   And  it is not out of the realm of possiblity that he is completely innocent (for the record,  I don't buy the last scenario listed.)   It will all come out.

Sounds like he may be on his way to Oakland. :woah:

To be clear,  the arrest warrant is for Obstruction of Justice, NOT for the murder.

Here are three things Hernandez has done....

-- He hired a cleaning crew to come in and scrub his house clean this past Monday.

-- He turned over his cell phone to authorities, completely shattered...

-- He destroyed his home security video system.

Hernandez maybe trying to cover his own involvement,  or perhaps that of a friend,  but either way,   he looks and acts like a person who is guilty of something.    If I'm a Patriots fan I wouldn't be counting on him this season.

I've already discounted on counting on him:)

Really though one player is not as big as people think. Brady yes, and maybe a superstar D lineman. Otherwise good football players on a team is what it's about and that's right up Bill's alley.

Wiggins a TE back in 2001 was pretty good blocking but didn't catch any passes. Then caught 10 passes in the snow-tuck game:)

And a key catch on the final drive of the SB.  That worked out pretty good.

The answer appears to be yes.....    and sometimes no....

It depends on Federal or State charge?    I think this is state.

But it also depends on what the crime is?     Since this is murder,  I think it's safe to say the answer in this case would be "yes!"

Pure speculation here...

I seriously doubt Hernandez himself killed this guy. He's obviously dumb, but I don't think he's that dumb. At this point, it sure seems like he's covering up for his buddy or buddies. And it would not surprise me if, somewhere later down the road, they hit him with a conspiracy to commit murder charge, since he and the other guys likely had a plan that they executed (and sorry for the bad pun there).

This kid's done everything wrong since it happened. From the house cleaning to the shady destruction of his phone and security footage to the details that are all slowly emerging.

It's so frustrating... these kids have life by the you-know-whats and can't seem to separate themselves from their punk friends. How many times have we seen cases where athletes got into trouble because of their "homies?" When will they realize that nothing good will ever come out of that?

What a crazy fascinating story though... I just hope justice is served, regardless of the consequences.

I agree but I am not sure how much was premeditated. I don't give him or his thug friends that much credit for being able to come with a plan. I think they killed them and panicked. Hence the body being dumped near his house, the security system, house cleaning.

Very sad. I stil think if he cooperates that he will get off with a fine, community service and an NFL suspension. I do not believe the Pats release him unless he goes to jail for a sig. amount of time. They have too much invested in him at this point.

So you think they killed him....on accident? Not sure what you mean when you say they killed him and panicked but it wasn't premeditated.

I think something happened - an arugment. They shot him and then panicked. If it was premeditated than why on earth would you dump the body so close to Hernandez' home and why would he destroy everything and clean his house?

Why would you leave the body so close to the home even if the murder was the result of an argument? In either case the guys are knuckleheads.

Oh I don't think it was the JFK assassination... I just think at some point in the evening, they knew what they were going to do. Conspiracy to commit murder charges don't require any sort of "lead time." It can be months of planning, or it could be a 30-second conversation that takes place minutes before the act is committed.

The only exception is if one of the other guys spontaneously killed the victim on their way back to Hernandez's house. But if that were the case, I would think the evidence would be pretty irrefutable, and that they already would have made arrests.

So many weird things about this case... I have a feeling most of it is coming out soon.

BTW...

This sure makes Gronk's club-dancing, body-slamming, porn-star-pressure-washing antics seem a lot more innocuous, huh?

he's all of those things, and it's annoying. I guess it's innocuous in comparison to murder, but then again what isn't?

Well he sure has stepped in it this time. So sad to waste a life with so much promise and GOD given natural ability. Just to have his talent and football abilities for 5 years........ The things I could do for my family and friends and community. An NFL paycheck could help so many people. And to throw it all away. Just is so darn STUPID!!!!  If he is involved in this murder sentence him to life as a Jacksonville Jaguar.

    • speaking of which, I’m about to win some good money.  I bet that brown would be FMVP, the Celtics would win the series, and it last at least 4 games.
    • more reason to believe that after the top 3 wide receivers, Latu was their guy.  To not accept an offer to move back ONLY 4 spots and gain a top 100 pick is hard to do.  Bet if the rams through in a second instead of a third we might’ve took it.   think about it, if you move back 4 spots you’d still have a shot at one of the two top corners or even Dallas turner.  And we said no thanks, we want Latu.
    • This is interesting. The Rams tried to trade with the Jets for 11 too:   I wonder who they were targeting. Some are speculating Bowers at 11. Seattle reporters think they tried to jump the Seahawks for Byron Murphy.
    • Simmer down. I don’t care what he said about Mitchell, although I do think he was a little dramatic and I don’t think an executive should curse in public like he does. You said CB has think skin and doesn’t care what people say. I disagree. CB has commented several times on what fans or the media have said. He even responded to Bowen by name because Bowen had criticized him about something. To me, that’s the opposite of thick skin. That’s rabbit ears. You can tell CB is getting prickly and sensitive, as well he should be given his less than mediocre results. That’s all I was saying — pretty innocuous stuff. You bringing up “the shadows” and owning things “here and now” and chess and checkers and that “I’m smarter than this” is so overboard…Just relax a bit, sir, not every post or exchange has to be a war.
