Andrew Luck. I'd tell him to be calm. Ignore all the ignorance people throwing at you. Not asking you to be Peyton Manning. I'm asking you to be Andrew Luck. Asking you to give it your all, play like you played at Stanford if not better. Take the reigns of this offense and play your cards right. Be the Best that you can be, and success will follow.

Be physical, NAIL somebody and for the Corners, watch the quarterbacks eyes because thats a give away as to where a qb is going also I would tell them dont over commit and stay balanced on your feet so your not stuck have to go commit one way, I'd also go over angles to the receiver more. I'd tell Luck to use his Tight Ends and running game to set up the play action, I'd tell our O Line Men to grip the d linemen inside the shoulders more and use that D Linemens leverage against him, for example if you feel yourself getting overpowered more on the right side or left use that leverage and shove that lineman to the left hard or right hard on his butt or if your real good you throw him into another D Lineman and knockdown 2 for 1. I would tell them all clear communication in a team sport is key and that its not how you learn its THAT you learn

I cannot keep it to 1 player.

This team needs encouragement. This team needs taught techniques in new schemes. This team has so many new players that we need a guide for numbers...including multiple numbers. 78 is one....

This team needs Coach Pagano and staff to say "If you do NOT impress this staff on Special Teams, your butt is not needed." If you are not willing to take the challenge in this effort, NFL means Not For Long beside your temporary name and number. We will give each and every one of you a chance to make this football team. Our aim is to Build The Monster."

Gavin as well intentioned as these all are, they're pretty basic stuff that I'm quite sure NFL players have the hang of, they are paid professionals ;)

I'd go in there and say "hey guys, I've never done football coaching on any level so by no means am I qualified to tell you what to do, but what I can say is Andrew, shave that horrible thing off, you look a mess. Good luck out there lads."

1. What player would you opt to share advice with for the upcoming season

2. What would you tell that player?

Let's try and keep it football related!

I would seriously address all the players, especially Aluck, and tell them that there is a large contingency of fans who will never forgive the departure of PM before he should have gone in their opinion. They are waiting for you and the team to stumble and there will even be a few booing at games, posting it on message boards, and so on. Ignore it. know that this is still the Colts, and you are a part of that. Hold your head high and let the haters hate.

oh yes, I forgot one thing.....stay humble. It is somewhat of shield against the negativity. It is one of your rock solid qualities.

1,2,3,4.....Go Colts!

I'd go to Dwight Freeney and I'd tell him to TAKE A PAYCUT!!!

I would never ask one of the best at their position, one who has came back from a serious injury and returned to form, to take less so fans can get more of what they want. Just my two cents. One bad play this season and it could be his last paycheck. Just my 25 cents. A life of dedication to get the to the top of the mountain should not result in a compromise if you have done your part.

He has the biggest cap hit in the league, and is the reason why money is so tight this year. It would have been nice if he took a paycut. Just my two cents.

Reggie Wayne and Robert Mathis: Thanks for staying in Indy.

I actually told Reggie that even though their were teams with better chances of making it to the Super Bowl

I'd tell the boomstick to just keep on doing whatch you're doing :D

Indy offered the deal, D Free took it.... no harm no foul.

Dwight is just not in the J Peppers echelon of DE's... but he has been pretty good. Just not 19m per good.

Folks will see this next season why Mathis IS the best player on the D..... He is WAY more Suggs like than Dwight.

Dwight Freeney-102.5 sacks to

Julius Peppers-100

but tackles wise its heavily in favor of Peppers

Freeney-286

Peppers-472

I agree with John on this one

Peppers 154 games played-

Dwight Freeney-149 games

yeah Peppers has been better when it comes down to it

Freeney has been a devastating pass rusher for us for years but has only reached double digit sacks in 3 of the last 6 years

Peppers and Suggs are just great ALL AROUND ENDS. No knock on D Free but if Mathis and Freeney are placed in a Suggs role? i am positive Mathis will be the one who shines for all three downs. Freeney will be a situational pass rusher. ONLY.

Mathis is a player... and I think he still has a couple BIG years left.

And how does Dwight have so LOW tackle stats when nearly every year Indy is the worst against the run? I hope I have watched DFREE run by the RB gashing us inside the OT for a big gainer for the last time.

CONTAINMENT...................... It cost Indy a lot of games.

    • What I’m reading on him the Pacers did get good value. Looks like he will need time to develop but he is in the right situation to do that. The pacers are stacking some quality young players that will prove to be more outstanding depth or assets if they choose to make a trade. Very exciting time for the team right now.
    • I’m not a religious person, but since you’re an educator I think you’re doing Gods work!   In these crazy insane times we’re all living in you’re doing one of the toughest jobs on earth.  And you’re teaching perhaps the most difficult generation to deal with.     From a distance it feels like you’re being very unfair to you.  I’m hoping in time you’ll see yourself in a completely different light.    Someone highly thought of.  A leader in the community.  A protector of young minds.   I couldn’t admire a teacher more.
    • You are too self-deprecating. You are one of the most respected and bright members here. You should never feel that you are failing. I'm sure your wife and children don't feel that way.  Indiana does not pay teachers what they deserve. But money is overrated. Having good morals and good character should be valued a lot more. JMO.
    • They make a heck of a lot more money than I do. Even those on the practice squad are making life changing money.    To be completely honest, as an educator I feel more like trash nowadays. One of those moments where I feel like I’m failing as a man, a husband, a father and a teacher. I would absolutely never consider an honest working NFL player as trash.
    • Food for thought… Once again, you continue to be your own worst enemy.     The Colts overall TE room is loaded with young players most of whom have had very little playing time for a variety of reasons.   So if you want to say the room might not be ranked high, that’s fair.    But you don’t say that.  You call them “trash”.  Why you feel that’s appropriate is a mystery.   Whenever you try the internet tough guy approach it typically blows up on you.     No one is trash.     You ignore the last three years and the QB and HC carousel the Colts have dealt with.  All of which has impacted the Colts weapons, especially the TE’s.   Ballard has publicly talked about how promising he thinks his TE room might be.   Woods, Granson, Ogletree, Mallory and MAC.    Only MAC is questionable and that’s because the salary hasn’t matched expectations.  But the first four?   All are promising.   They’re just young and looking for opportunity.  But they are NOT trash.     There’s a difference.
