We are going to have to figure out how to get a more downfield passing game. I know it’s hard against the eagles which is why you can’t get in 3rd and 11.

The key is to get short 3rd downs by running with JT on 1st and 2nd down. That’s how we did it on our opening drive, we need to stick to that

need to play safe against a defense that is really good at getting turnovers.

we need to wear them down on the D line.

we are doing fine. only a couple questionable calls so far.

Raimann holding penalty derailed that drive.

We are not going to win this game by forcing the ball down the field on 3rd and long. It was the right call.

I’m not asking to force the ball downfield, just don’t like throwing it to the flat to our second string RB against two defenders. A short crosser or bubble would have worked better I think

Were playing the Eagles a top 5 offense in the league why are we playing safe

You do realize that those of you crying for us to push the ball downfield on 3rd and long... That's exactly what Frank did... And it got us into trouble.

Do you want Frank back, or are you good with Saturday influencing how we run the offense?

I’m fine with being a bit more conservative, we just need to be aggressive at the right times. Haven’t seen an opportunity for it yet, but hopefully Parks takes some shots on 2nd and short or similar

What you are wanting is not our game... It is not our game plan... And it is not how we will win this game.

I agree, but if we can't cook up a pass play to gain 11 yards, we can't play with the big boys... or mediocre boys...

I am going to let you talk to yourself the rest of the way...

LOL

I don't know how else to explain this to you. :)

Ryan does not have a "beautiful mind". Yes we want the ball out very quick he just doesn't ever seem smarter than their DC.

I wasn’t trying to say you were wrong, I was just cordially explaining my position, but if you want to be rude about it that’s your choice man

Lots of them do so successfully.  Having said that, I prefer that head coaches not call offensive or defensive plays.

True, Andy Reid is a great play caller. I think it takes an experienced head coach to juggle both though, smart of Sirriani to delegate play calling to an OC

    • How about getting a proven commodity in the FA market? I know that assumes the player wants to be here, but money talks and the Colts have some. This D needs a solid center fielder. Simmons fits that role perfectly. If he’s gettable, here’s to Ballard pulling the trigger, even if it’s a slight overpay. The team CANNOT leave this crucial position to players who have consistently underperformed in the past (Cross and Thomas).
    • All - this is the real question.   What do the 32 GMs in the league know that the rest of us (we're on the outside looking in) don't know?   Answer that question and you'll have what you need to analyze the choices made by the leadership of your favorite team.
    • We have the weak secondary where a player in FA can be signed for a year and get a starting job. We also have the money to afford any of them. Not too many other teams have that combination of both factors right now. Also, the draft recently happened and I'm guessing a lot of these teams want to try out their early round picks in the secondary right now. We didn't draft anyone in the secondary until the 5th round. We are somewhat desperate (not to mention Daniel Scott is out for the year again). Other teams are not at the moment.
    • Why do you think A and B are the only options?    What’s the reason for Ballard to be cheap?   What incentive would there be?    Posters like Superman and w87r have crunched the numbers.  The Colts are among the league leaders in spending.     Ballard’s is going into his 8th year.  He’s been competitive in 6 of the 8 seasons and I personally think season 1 was a tank.    Also…. Ballard always says the team is always looking to improve.  It’s now mid-June, so the Colts have 5 more weeks to sign someone before camp starts.  There are a number of FA safeties available.  Why aren’t the other 31 teams signing these players either.  They’re certainly good enough.  But it’s Ballard who is wrong or incompetent or cheap or something and not anyone else.
    • This is a great story on Mitchell. The part in here where Mitchell explains how much he appreciates Ballard going to bat for him was awesome.
