I disagree completely. I am actually not sure I could disagree with you more. The only thing I agree with you about is that I think it's a good idea to bring Vinny back.

Vinny is not signing a blockbuster deal and he is at the age where he could get cut by a young up-and-coming kicker. It happens. This is the NFL.

I am not saying Vinny will get cut. However, to think he will not have serious competition during this off-season is completely wrong.

I don't think you sign and make a HOF kicker who has helped you win countless games and a SB....heck we might have won 2 if he would have been there to kick instead of Stover go through competition for his job. The guy has been a constant professional despite the crap we have been through the past few years. I see no reason you set an example to others that your not going to be loyal to a player that has given you so much when he is a few kicks away from setting an NFL record that may never be broken again. Besides...we always have someone kicking in the preseason besides Adam. We will get a good look and if something happens can call upon them. I just see no way you cut him...he rarely even kicks in the preseason...and even if he struggles a bit there is no one anybody would rather have kicking a last second fg to win then Adam. He has a long leash in my opinion. I think he is a guy that has earned enough reputation to finish his career (at least through this season) on his own terms.

I know where your coming from...that we want competition across the board...but there is no competition for Adam. I'm not going to sign some kid that I don't know how he would handle the pressure just because he can kick a 60 yd fg and Adam only 50. I think Adam is on a year to year thing with us at this point...but I can't see a way we cut him on the verge of a record after all he has accomplished.

He played in the 1996 Super Bowl vs. The Packers too.

Yupp @Boiler_Colt got you before me. So... Malik was 3 months from being born hahaha:lol:

Well, I'll have to re-do that list...

At the time of the 1996 Super Bowl....

Andrew Luck was 7 years old

Malik Hooker was about 8 months old

Brett Favre won his 2nd MVP

Dom Capers was coach of the year

This feels like a good compromise deal.

Vinatieri has been signing two-year deals with the Colts for a while now...

He comes down to 1-year.

But he's been making roughly 2.5--3 Mill per.     Now, he's up to 3.6 and then some incentives.     We give him a higher average per year salary,  so there's the Colts' compromise.

Ballard did this with Hankins in FA last year.

Win-win for both sides.       Nice.

Believe it or not the main reason why I think the 2006 Team was better than 2005 is because of Vinatieri. He is a big reason why we won at Baltimore in 2006 in the Playoffs. He was the leader of the SPTeams as well. VanderStink just reeked of being a cancer in 2005 and then he missed a 45 yard FG by a mile vs Pitt indoors to end our season.

Believe it or not, the 2006 team wasn’t better than the 2005 team. The 2005 team severely under-achieved.

The 2006 team did reach its potential and win the Super Bowl though. :)

Those of you who think Adam won’t have real competition this offseason can believe what you want to. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I will go on record to disagree you.

Vinny just signed the contract. He will be our field goal kicker. We will bring in a camp kicker but he will be cut come cut time.

On record? Where are these records kept?
