Reich was fired as the play caller in San Diego under Mike McCoy.

Reading the comments in the piece above...

The Charger fan said Reich was a terrible OC and most of them were happy to see him let go.

...Although some seemed to pass the blame along as well.

...As a Chargers fan, one of the few remaining, McCoy and Telesco need another year. The team was wrecked by injuries. Reich is a good fire. His play calling was vanilla and predictable. If Telesco bombs another draft and McCoy can’t win, they both need to go. As Rivers said, the team went 4-12 one year and 12-4 the next. What can I say, I’m an optimist.

Are you thinking we might hire him as an OC?

Agreed. But the fact that these are Chargers fans, after putting up a few seasons of losing, lends some credence to the situation.

After all, who would know better, if Reich's play calling stunk? than the Chargers fans who watched the games Reich was coaching?

Exactly, plus the word “reich” simply means “realm”

99% of Americans do not know the definition of "reich' and 99% of Americans do not even know there was a 1st. and 2nd. "reich".  But in the minds of 99% of Americans the word "reich" reminds people of a period murder and genocide.  That's just the way it is.

Reich, like I said before, is probably more suited for HC than OC because of his experience dealing with different systems, coaches and player personalities throughout his career. He doesn’t get too high or too low.

Mike McCoy called the plays the last year as Denver OC and bombed out terribly. McCoy rode the coattails of Peyton and took subsequent opportunities as they happened, IMO.

I got the feeling that Reich is very good at game planning going into the game but needs someone else to do the nuts and bolts of on field play calling. I would want an OC for day to day play calling to make me feel better. :)

He very well could be good HC..I just hope he can pick his own OC and Bevell isn't forced on him as condition of the job..

Agree %100 with what you said, but that doesn’t mean the ignorance should impede upon freedom of speech and ruin peoples’ pleasure of having a harmless conversation with their friends.
