bigt
If only CB could figure out a way to get both. Maybe package Hilton and Gore in exchange for a number 1 pick to a playoff team later in the year in need of both. Gore deserves better and hopefully, our new coach goes to a more run heavy offense to protect Luck thus making Hilton expendable. Crazy I know, but after today’s game, I’m feeling a little crazy. Are there any teams that in next year’s draft that need a QB badly that have 2 numbers 1s. That could be another angle to get both.
azcolt
Maybe he was looking for someone to advise him on whom to draft in 2018. So far except for Hooker most of the 2017 draft class is a joke. As for that defense he totally rebuilt, it looks a lot like its predecessor. It figures that his old special teams coach who has no OC, DC or HC experience is rumored to be his choice to replace Pagano. It also figures that Irsay would hire another loser to run the franchise. DougDew
He's probably looking at Olinemen. Both of those schools still run traditional offenses where the olinemen can transition into the NFL easier. Probably one of the problems with LeRaven Clark's development was the offense he came from, which is a noted problem with many college oline prospects. The spread offense # development into the NFL. Ryan Kelly was trained at Alabama and was a plug n play NFL player from the start.

When your defense is on the field for 7/8 of the game, of course it's going to look like crap. Irsay also handcuffed Ballard keeping Pagano. DaColts85
There are a lot of guys on both teams that he could have looking at. O-line, CB, ILB, even Adams at RB. Cameron Smith looks like a solid piece, but O-line is something I am hopeful for.

Hooker haiston wilson mack all could be good I think too early on Basham and Grover (Banner's already gone, so he's out of the picture). Mathis was not good in his rookie year and then turned it around and played the rest of his career like a potential HOFer. Grover has the size, etc... he is coming from a small school, he has a lot of improvement to do, but he has the raw physicality.... then again, he could be the 2nd version of Montori Hughes and never pan out. He was a late 4th round pick, so if he does turn out, great.. if not, it's not like it will be as impactful as giving up a first rounder for Trent Richardson or anything. I know oline must be addressed in freeagency and draft but so must ilb and pass rusher. The jags have three guys that look to be heading into double digit sack territory. One is already there. That is why their pass d is legit. Im just not sure its possible to get all three positions of need addressed in one offseason. If we fix oline pass rush may still suffer or if we go mlb oline may suffer.

Defjamz26
He's gotta be looking at McGlichey and Nelson. Probably Cameron Smith too. But we need a whole new line except for Kelly. I wouldn't be surprised to see him at a Texas, Washington, or Oklahoma game as well.

The draft is your best bet for oline. This is not looking like a strong group in FA. You might be able to find some other areas in FA though. Kevin MInter and Zach Brown might be back out there. Too early to say since some of these guys will be resigned by their current team. Remeber there were a lot of 1-year deals last year that will become new contracts with the same team, or a new FA year for others.
Dudley Smith
Can't believe how obsessed people are getting with being okay with trading Hilton. The roster outside of him, Luck, and a few others is completely devoid of talent, but we are still willing to get rid of him? That'd be a great move! And also, people already getting on Ballard about the 2017 draft class -- most picks below the 3rd round typically are not going to be difference makers. Not sure why people are being hard on him about rounds 4 and later. The only one you can MAYBE give Ballard some flack on is Basham. Basham so far does not look that great, but he is transitioning from a MAC school to the NFL. It is already a major jump from a Power 5 school to NFL, let alone a mid-major. Let's give it some time before we automatically write him off halfway through his rookie season.

You do not draft a guy in later rounds for just the following year. I get it you are referring to the staff as being terrible...but he will get a new staff, so again why would he be a bad pick? With the staff being your go to...pretty much everyone minus maybe Hooker would be a bad pick.
