I talked about Collie before anyone knew who he was...blair white has the same type of hands and never got a chance to play with dallas his rookie year...I think blair white is the next collie...who wouldn't want a deep threat like moss...but only if he signs to win a super bowl not cash out

I like you already!I got my eye on you!lol! You have common sense...that's a good thing.

As bad as VY is, he can throw to an open receiver more than 6 times in 8 games.

And that is exactly what Moss has to offer. If he's not happy he offers nothing. Plus who would you want him to take looks away from? Garcon? No. I think Garcon has limited upside and I think he maxed out at 65-70 receptions, 750-850 yards and half dozen TDs. Moss is not going to do more than that with the Colts so why take that away from Garcon who's been working is Manning for going on 4 years now? Collie? No. A healthy Collie is one of the best receivers in the league. Wayne? Yeah right. Gonzo? Possibly. So people want the Colts to sign Moss to be the 4th receiver?

One Moss did not score a TD with the Titans so he did not score with 3 different teams and therefore not the first person to do that.

But look at last year... Pats no longer wanted him... traded to Vikings, Vikings no longer wanted him, traded the Titans. Titans wanted him, tried to give him a chance and he just sat there and collected a paycheck. Championship teams are not built with players who only play well when things are going their way. And I can seriously tell you that I do not want the Colts to sign Moss and I will be disappointed in Caldwell, Irsay and the Polians if they do.

ok, ur right, he didnt score with TEN. I thought he did, but he did score 3 with NE in 4 games and 2 with MIN in 4 games. not too shabby. I know that we have wayne, garcon, and collie but we pass enough to use Moss also. Garcon is an ok WR but he will not be a hall of famer. for you to sit there and try to tell me that we dont get a LOT better on offense by upgrading garcon on the outside to Moss is just freakin rediculous. "Championship teams are not built with players who only play well when things are going their way" I agree but we are already a contender, we are not trying to build a championship team from the bottom like TEN, that is why it didnt work there. I seriously can tell you than Caldwell, Irsay, the Polians, and all the colts fans could not care less whether you are disappointed with them or not. We just wants a superbowl and Randy Moss could seriously help our chanes of getting one THIS YEAR!!!!

Don't worry, I wouldn't even dare suggest Moss take away touches from Collie or Wayne - I'm suggesting bringing in Moss purely to start over Garcon and be that consistent deep threat we need. Garcon is the weak-link in the Colts receiving corps and I'd much rather see Gonzalez on the field if he could prove he could stay healthy.

I feel that a consistent deep threat will allow Wayne to thrive as a posession receiver running short and intermediate routes where he could feast off #2 corners. Last year, he struggled getting consistently open deep down the sideline against single-coverage, despite registering a career high in receptions, and I think his longevity would be greatly improved if we had a true, consistent deep threat.

If Moss doesn't work out, then send him to the bench or cut him - there's no risk involved in signing him if there's any chance he can be anywhere close to the player he was years prior. As much as the Patriots will tell you they were glad they traded Moss, the Patriots offenses biggest weakness last season was the lack of a deep threat, a weakness that was on display in the play-offs. Even though Moss wasn't getting receptions in his games with New England and serving as a decoy, he was still drawing coverage over to his side and opening things up underneath.

We don't know what Moss has left in the tank - mid-season trades are rarely sucessful and Moss didn't even know the Vikings offense when he was traded to him (Favre's 500th TD pass to him was an improvised draw-it-up-in-the-dirt play) and was probably just going through the motions with the Titans (didn't help they never even looked his way in games). I agree this has always been the worst part of Moss as a player, but maybe a change of scenery will reinvigorate him - how many people thought he was done in Oakland? How many people kept quoting Michael Lombardi's "scouting report" saying Moss was washed up, no longer had the physical tools and a shadow of himself? Granted he's older now, but unless he has a training camp and flames out despite his team winning, I've no reason to think he might not be able to be an upgrade over Garcon

On a side note, I did not realize that Garcon had 67 catches last year - it sure didn't seem like it, plus his catch rate was only 55% vs 63% and 82% for Wayne and Collie respectively last year.

Nicely done, nicky6times!

See, this sort of conversation is just fun to be a part of. I hope nobody decides to step in and erase these posts or shut down the thread. I, personally, get just as much entertainment out of this type of conversation as the football part, and I know I'm not the only one.

I'm not sure what "rediculous" means but, no I do not think the Colts are a lot better with Moss. I don't even think they would be a little better with Moss. And no, Garcon is not a hall of fame WR and never will be but Moss last year no longer played like a HOF WR either. I'm not taking anything away from his (Moss) career accomplishments and if this was 5 years ago or even 2 years ago my attitude on signing Moss would be completely different.

The attitudes some of us are attaching to recent free agent signings seem to be somewhat of a syndrome.

People need to be careful about their expectations of one time great players being signed to one year contracts. They come in with realistic concerns attached to them, and may not pan out.

The hope is that they will pan out, but we dangerously build up hopes that they WILL pan out, and WILL make a big difference.

A signing of Randy Moss could be the most dangerous, as, he could work out and have a huge impact, or, he could be the Randy Moss we've seen over the past couple of years (and sprinkling over his entire career), and be a huge detriment to the team. The last thing we need is to be in an important situation, call a play where Randy isn't the #1 option, he takes the play off, and Manning needs to go to him, but he's emotionally disengaged.

To me, if you sign him, be quick to pull the trigger on him as soon as he shows the ability to disengage.

If/when some of these guys make the team, and don't excel, I really don't want to hear all the belly aching about why a Polian made such a stupid decision to take a chance on this guy, or that guy.

wow, im so sorry i made a spelling error, but i could not disagree with you more.

you seem to agree with me that Moss plays differently depending if he is happy with the situation. But then you try to say he would be at the same level of play in Indianapolis as he was in Tennessee. Peyton and our system is not the same as Kerry Collins and Rusty Smith in TEN. Did u see his TD catch with one hand against the Jets (over Revis i think) last year?!?!? You cannot judge him on last year with TEN alone. He knows that in Indy we have one goal this year and it happens to be the same as his, win a superbowl. If he wants to play for us, for the right price, i for one will not be disappointed. I will just have to agree to disagree with you (but i am right) ;)

I'm all for a one year deal, it'll be the year he gets his first ring and we'll be the first team to get to the big game on our home field to win and give it to him....... LET'S GET RANDY..... BILL, JIM ARE YOU LISTENING??

the colts would get him cheap without a signing bonus. where is the risk, why not sign him! the worse that happens is that you cut him if he doesn't have it any more, but if he is close to the old moss it would be the steal of the year. the colts have veteran leaders so the other issues people bring up aren't much of a concern.

I'm on the Moss bandwagon. It's definitely worth the risk. He has shown before he had something in the tank when others thought he was finished, myself included. Peyton Manning is better than every QB he has ever played with, including Brady and Favre. If Moss has a couple more years to solidify himself as the GOAT with a few rings, there is no better place than here in Indy. Peyton Manning will get this guy the ball, you watch! Peyton has never had a WR of Moss's size, speed, and skill. He still has the speed because I remember him burning Revis for a touchdown at the beginning of last year. Anyways, even if he is only 80 percent of what he was in New England 2 years ago, his size alone would allow us to burn teams in the redzone. Manning to Moss would be unstoppable and I can't believe this move hasn't been made yet.

I'll make the bold prediction right now that if Moss (or T.O. for that matter) were to come here we would have no disciplinary or behavioral problems from them. And if I were wrong, they would be released without an afterthought because the Colts players and FO simply wouldn't put up with it. If either of them were a Colt and made one angry approach towards Manning about not getting the ball when they were open, they'd have the entire O-line throwing them out of the stadium.

I personally think we're fine at Receiver and would prefer to see a DB added in the final roster spot (assuming whoever said it was correct that we only have one roster spot left) but if Moss decided to come out of retirement and sign a 1 yr deal with us then I'm all for it. Can anyone really say they wouldn't want the prospect of this kind of production added to our already potent offense?

2009 New England Patriots 16 16 83 1,264 15.2 71T 13 -- -- -- -- -- 2 1

2008 New England Patriots 16 16 69 1,008 14.6 76T 11 2 0 0.0 2 0 3 2

2007 New England Patriots 16 16 98 1,493 15.2 65T 23

Yes, he had problems last year and the entire time he was in Oakland, but come on, how many of you can honestly say you wouldn't be disgruntled yourselves if you were in a dead-end job with no opportunity for advancement. The difference is if any of us are like that it doesn't get broadcast all over national television. Yes, he is a professional and should give 100% all of the time, but he's only human. I'm not condoning anything or making excuses but the fact of the matter is if he were to sign with us I truly believe we would get the type of production from him that you see in the stats above.

Please sign him!!! I know he quits on plays, I've seen it myself. But Peyton is a tough SOB and can keep egos in check. If Randy is quitting on plays, Manning will be in his face, because Peyton wants rings just as bad and probably even more than Randy does. I don't think Randy will quit on plays for Manning. He never did for Brady, and Moss will quickly realize Peyton is the GOAT, like most every player that has been around Manning knows. I don't think Brady or Favre are as authoritarian as Manning. Niether have ever been as close to being a coach on the field as Manning.

Plus the Diem quotes are telling. He said no other team has the same "culture" we do according to former players. Maybe for once, Moss can be humbled at the best ran football organization known of today and get his rings if he busts his * for them. Your destiny is in your own hands Moss! Sign the line and give us HOF Randy!!!

It was just a joke.

. yes because he would not be happy being the 4th receiving option in most situations (behind Wayne, Collie, and Clark)

I can't judge him on last year but I should judge him on one catch from last year?

:FBcheesy: If you are right (which you're not because you disagree with me :FBsmiley:) I will be one of the first to say so. I've been wrong before, it's not impossible to believe I may be wrong again at some future date.
