Aside for Swoope in the flats, the TEs, as a whole, have seen very few targets.

I can't even recall if Allen played against the Eagles.  I've seen report saying he's dealing with a little hip issue.  I think they wanted to get a good long look at Swoope. Encouraged by what I've seen from him and they must be too because he's been playing with the ones.  Swoope looks like he's just as fast as Fleener or a step slower maybe. Raw in some areas, but definitely has talent.   I believe Doyle played but that second tight end in Chuds offense typically does a lot of blocking so maybe that's why I haven't seen many balls go Doyles way.

Allen played vs the Eagles. Allen and Doyle were seemingly alternating drives as #1 TE with Swoope as #2. It was weird.

As for Swoope, he's intriguing and he's done pretty well this preseason but he still scares me. I don't think he's ready yet. I'm not sure he's someone we could rely on in live situation. I think Coffman would be our best bet as #3 this year.

Not me.  You have to play at some point and he's made the necessary plays. More than Coffman at that. He really doesn't have any more time to devote to being a practice squad player.  Got to get those feet wet at some point.

I think the brass has made a concerted effort to get Swoope's feet wet this preseason. He's played far, far more than any other TE and they've called plays, on multiple occasions, specifically targeted to him. They're definitely taking a long look at him for #3. Game 4 could very likely be the decider between Coffman and Swoope. Hopefully, Coffman will get equal PT.

I don't think Coffman has much of a chance.  If you've seen some of Paganos recent comments in the last couple weeks it's almost clear.  He basically said Swoope has done everything he's needed to do to keep himself in position to get that third TE spot.  It doesn't guarantee Swoope anything, but the league has already shown us what Coffman is over the years.  We know his ceiling for the most part.  There's a lot you can do with a guy like Swoope.  Much more room to grow.  I don't think it's that much of a competition to be honest.  We'll see!

I see Mr. Bjoern Werner was cut from the Jaguars.  So the excuse can not be used that he was a better fit for a 4-3 front.  He didn't even make the cut down to 75 on a team that needs pass rush help.

Just saw that and was on the way to post it lol. Such a dissapointment

Saw where Trey Wiliams was let go.  I know a lot of people here liked him.  That bodes well for Ferguson IMHO.  They are basically similar players.  No reason to keep both.  I dunno which was better but we got what we got so let's roll with it.

What's not to like about an UDFA who rushed 8 times for 10 yards this preseason.  Looks like a future starter to me.

I have no idea why Kelcy Quarles keeps sticking on the roster.  Haven't seen a play from him the entire preseason.  Sterling Bailey seems to be getting some looks from the staff.  More than I thought he'd be getting, but he was known for his run defense coming out of Georgia.

You don't play your highest trump card until you absolutely have to.

not sure that applies to Quarles but hey, it's still a sound theory

:D
