I don't think it's realistic on draft day, in later rounds. And in any event, it's a guideline, not a fixed formula. Oh well. Getting an extra fourth rounder sounds good to me, and the board wasn't looking that great. I'd have taken Reed, but oh well.

I am with you on Reed...but we all thought he was a top 20 guy...look how far he's fallen...we're either missing something or the dynamics of the draft have been altered because of the stacked defensive line prospects...It's been a really odd draft, that's for sure.

Surprised we wasn't all over Reed. He could and probably should have been a first rounder.

Based on what that 31 GMs didn't see, most of them twice?

Hack!  Poor Jets.

Reed has some agility but at the end of the day I think he is a 2 down player who I would not have touched till day 3. Way to early to draft him for me

The DTs taken thus far in round 2 are really not much different than what we already have.

Not really. It's the difference between a team with 6 picks and a team with 12.

Well, that's part of being a good front office - stack up on the best commodity in football - cheap rookie contracts(draft picks). It gives you maneuverability and it gives you the chance to take swings on multiple prospects.

You don't trade down if someone you want is on the board.

Yes yyou do, if you think you can still get them where you traded down to. It's a little something called maximizing value.

I had this crazy idea in my head that Whitehair and Billings would be gone so the Colts end up taking Nick Martin to play Gaurd/backup Center. Texans must have thought the same thing... not mad though. The forum would have gone ballistic!

I'd take Day or Ridgeway here if we go DT/ Both are disruptive rotational D Linemen. Im also still looking at Calhoun and Fackrell

There are more than 6 good players left

nope draft is over after those 6. Pack it up....we have to fill out our team with CFL guys now lol. I'm really intrigued with Alexander. He has some attitude and swag....kinda like our CB we took last year. Might need a year but could put together a nice young core back there.

I don't care that we traded back if we weren't wild about what we'd get....

What I care about is that we didn't come remotely close to getting value.

We lost 90 points and got back 48.        Not even close to a good trade.

We must have really, REALLY wanted that extra 4.    (Sigh....)

    • Welcome back.   After taking a month off, you’ve returned.   I’m not sure where to start, so let’s try the night the Colts drafted Mitchell.  Late that night, you and another high profile Ballard-Hater had this conversation:  That you didn’t like CBs defense of Mitchell.  His big speech.  Why?  Because you guys agreed that “Ballard didn’t know enough about Mitchell to know if he was a good guy or not.”   Your words.     When my chin came off the floor and my eyes back in my head I thought this:   Why would you OR the fans of any team ever think that what a GM shares on draft night is all he knows?   Because it isn’t.  A GM is sharing all that he wants to share, nothing more.  But what he doesn’t share is much, much more than what he does share.  Think an iceberg;  10 percent above water,  90 percent below.   A GM knows far more than he ever shares.    And now you make this argument….   If Mitchell doesn’t work out, Ballard has left himself open to criticism.   Two words:  who cares?   A GM can’t do his job well if he’s afraid of criticism.  Do you think the Steelers care that George Pickens is totally crazy?   No.  They care he makes big plays for Pittsburgh and catches first downs and touchdowns.  Mike Tomlin deals with the crazy part in private.   A GM has to have thick skin.  Ballard clearly does.   And he doesn’t care what others think of him.  Nor should he.     So far Mitchell seems to enjoy Indy.   I think the odds are good Ballard and Steichen can handle whatever baggage the kid brings.
    • Unbelievable.  Tell me, what’s the criteria for being a spoiled brat?     Because all the other rookie WR’s have clauses in their contracts too.   The Colts do a great job of signing players.  This signing doesn’t seem to bother the Colts, yet it bothers you enough to call Mitchell a spoiled brat.  Over nothing much out of the ordinary.  Thats why players have agents.  It’s why the Colts have Mike Bluem.     You remain your own worst enemy.     Goodness gracious.
    • When the Colts drafted Goncalves they said they think he could play 4 positions at the NFL level.   All but Left Tackle.  So he is not a replacement for Raimann.   odds are Goncalves will play RG and some RT.    I’m a Cosell fan.  He’s forgotten more about football than anyone here knows.  But his opinion on Raimann is beyond head scratching.    Raimann scored in the low to mid 70’s his rookie year.  Then scored in the low 80’s last year.   I don’t know what he thinks of PFF scores,  but there is more to this opinion than meets the eye.  Something doesn’t add up at all.
    • I think his professional career is very slim. Not sure if you remember Vick Ballard but he had similar injuries and he was pretty much done with football after. Not to say that Scott can’t come back it’s completely possible but to rehab and have to get over the mental aspect of things it’s gonna be hard.
    • Not a big deal at this time, but I hope AR is 100% by the time he takes contact in a real game. Don't want this to be a regular occurrence, especially when you combine his reckless playing style with the injury. I hope he can play all year. Last thing we need is him getting nagging injuries every game.
