Oh yeah... He is that Colts corner, who is the BEST "BLEEPING" CORNER in the National Football League!!!

 

Whether you are on his bandwagon now or later; it will not matter, because eventually you will be on riding along.

 

You might as well just jump on now. 

 

Vontae Davis is the best corner back in the NFL. Enjoy the ride!

Agreed. There is not a corner in the league who is asked to do as much as Vontae, and he is still playing the position better than anyone.

He's definitely making a case for himself and it's being noticed.

Run support? Beast

Pass defense? Beast

Also, love how he sniffs out screens. What I like most is he's not a loud mouth obnoxious dill hole.

Many thought Vernon Davis was a bust -- now consider an elite TE and the most physically gifted TE maybe ever to play the game.

 

I think we're seeing the same maturation with his little bro, Vontae. They both just needed a kick in the butt to realize it.

To be honest, Miami doesn't really seem like the best place to foster talent.  You bring him to a successful franchise like Indy where the head coach is a DB specialist and surround him with more talent on defense so he has more help, and you really let him grow.  Vernon had attitude issues going back to the Singletary days and finally matured.  Vernon has never had attitude issues; I don't ever recall him getting into an argument with a coach or being in trouble off the field.  I just think being in Miami brought him down

The pro bowl is a joke. All it is is a popularity contest. Yeah it would be cool if he made it but in the grand scheme of an NFL season its all about the Super Bowl.

I think his point is that you're making a grammatical error.  To say you could care less means you care some, so you do care.  What I think you meant to say is "I couldn't care less", which means you don't care about the Pro Bowl

I didn't say Vontae had attitude issues, rather that he hadn't fully matured as a player. I read somewhere that Vontae said in Miami he didn't take care of himself and was lazy. He has cut it out since joining the Colts.

 

I do agree that Miami hasn't been the best place for young talent to mature of late.

Sorry.  I miscomprehended what you said.  I thought you meant Vontae had to mature and get over his attitude issues like his brother.  But I agree with you on that.  I also recall reading that in another thread on here.  Glad to see how we've been able to really let him develop into an elite player

Yep. I remember when the Colts traded for him a bunch of dolphins fans told me that he was a big baby. Stories like he left practice bc he had to pee or something. I kept hearing how the Colts got ripped off.

 

Funny to look over those convos now that I have hindsight on my side

Unfortunately, the fact that he isn't a 'loud mouth obnoxious dill hole' may hurt his chances for all-pro or pro-bowl.

 

IMO, Corner, OL, long-snapper, and holder are the 4 positions in the league where the better you do your job the less your name should be talked about on TV.  Davis has very little go his way, he played excellent again today and did get a pick which was nice.  You don't hear the announcers talking about how great he has been all year though.  He isn't like Sherman where he is going to go and bring attention to himself -- so there are probably a lot of people voting for pro-bowl that aren't Colts fans that don't know how good Vontae is.

 

That said, I hope he never becomes loud and obnoxious and just continues to excel at his job.
