What would be the motivation for the Browns? They're not hurting for cap space certainly.

Just valuation of a player.  If they don't feel like he's going to stay, they're just paying $10M to a player who will hurt their draft position next year and take away $10M in cap space they could roll into next year.  I don't think anyone has the expectation that Mack is going to make the Browns competitive.

If the Browns rescind the offer then he would just become an unrestricted free agent, correct? He could then sign whatever deal he wants with the team of his choosing.

Yes but there is no reason for the Browns to do that. Mack will probably just hold out all training camp and eventually sign his tender.

most people read it and thought high profile meant trading for someone and some read it and thought about free agents.  Im just here gauging thoughts not implying that I am right.

The method is irrelevant... it is the concept that is absurd... and that was clearly not open to interpretation.

I Never said that we need to sign him because of Jims problems. I said it would help take the attention from Jim as we were already interested in signing Mack.  Not one time did i say we go an pursue someone that we did not previously have interest in.

You explicitly suggested that we should make a big signing to shift the attention from Irsay to that signing.

That should never be a reason to sign a player. Whether it's the primary reason or otherwise.

Fair point, I did read like 20 pages of forum chatter suggesting he's worth more than $10Million a year :P

Correct that he alone won't make the competitive but with their draft picks they shouldn't be far away at all, taking Mack away would create a need they don't need to if you get me. Honestly, a half decent QB and they could compete for the AFC North in my eyes.

The draft will be here before u know it and people will have moved on.  I really don't think making football decisions to take attention away from Irsay's problem is the solution.  He needs to go to a facility and get cleaned up and let Grigs and Pagano worry about football.

Colts need to make a move to get the attention back to the team instead of Irsays actions.  It would have to be a high profile move.

Colts front office just need to focus on what the team needs and implement the plans they are working on.   Irsay news will slowly die down and with luck he will step back from the stress of the off season and take care of what is truly important, and that is his health and well being.  That will move the organization forward again as far as ownership and front office.   The team will do their job and focus and what needs to be done on the field.

I wonder what triggered his regression... Its been said that he was alcohol free for the past 15 years

i don't think jim irsay's problems have anything to do with the team making moves i think we're all just secretly tired of looking at colts news every 2 seconds for a signing i personally just keep refreashing the site along with other tabs of nfl.com and rotoworld every minute since we signed hakeem nicks. It seems like I forgot what the sun looks like so we NEED to make a move because if we don't i'm going to go insane from all the anticipation like i saw on another thread let's sign De La Puente to a reasonable 3 year deal so we can move on with our lives Grigs Bring Us Fresh Blood! haha

There isn't a move that could be made that will take the spot light off of Jim

    • My 2 cents, 4 counting inflation, on the O-Line...    While I agree with @CR91 regarding injury issues, I also agree with @NewColtsFan that the line is above average. Talk about straddling the fence, lol!  They both make valid points though.   LT: Raimann got a late start in college football due to mandatory military service in Austria. He played his first two seasons as a Tight End before being converted into a Tackle. So he was late in the game at LT coming out of college, 25 at the start of his rookie season. That could be either good or bad, meaning he has room to grow or he may be at his ceiling. I am of the belief he has room to ascend and will.   LG: Q isn't the player that the Colts drafted due to injuries, though he seemed to turn the corner last year. I am of the belief that he will continue to ascend to near All Pro status, though it is tempered.   C; Kelly bounced back last year from injuries, family issues, and concussions(yes, they could be considered injuries). I am of the belief that he will be one of the better Centers in the game this year, though Bortolini may be waiting in the wings.   RG: Fries is considered the "weak link" but played reasonably well last year. Another ascending year is very possible and most likely will price him out of the Colts plans in 2025, especially with Concalves and Bortolini as possible replacements.   RT: Smith showed a warriors heart playing injured last year and hopefully his offseason surgery corrected the issue. He has a 19+ million dollar cap hit next year, so there is extra incentive for him to perform to it and hopefully an extension.   Bench: Concalves and Bortolini come in with solid press clippings, and the ability to play more than one position, but have to show it at the pro level, I believe they will. Freeland was shown the baptism by fire treatment and had mixed results. Let's hope he learned from his mistakes and worked on his strength, as the Swing Tackle spot is up for grabs. I don't rule out a veteran FA to take that spot though, plus Witt is a relative unknown quantity due to missing his rookie campaign.    In conclusion, I could see a very good and deep Offensive Line, though injury and experience concerns are definitely something to be aware of.
    • Thanks for the write up   I’m surprised that we didn’t grab a FS after Scott went down   With Scott, I felt the group was lacking…..  now it’s a real problem (IMHO)   Im glad you also added LB as a concern   I hope we add to this group in camp via trade or FA pickup after cuts.    We can get by with this core, but we need some added talent   im less concerned with CB, Especially if we get them aircover with an excellent FS   Thanks again for the write up
    • What part of Ohio?   I was born in Circleville and spent time in Columbus then Cincinnati
    • Fun fact: The Rocky character was based on Chuck Wepner.   https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2095019/
    • I will take a scene from Rocky 3. 80's and 90's were the best. After Homer gets destroyed by Tatum like Rocky did against Clubber, I walk in and tell Homer, you can't go out like that, we can win the title together like Apollo did. Homer would be like, I don't need this anymore, why you here? I would tell him, you can't pull it off without me because I am the best, you need better training. I am bored but great memories    .   Regarding the Rocky movies, fighters compared to real life fighters by Rolling Stone:   Apollo Creed = Ali Rocky = Rocky Marciano  Clubber = Mike Tyson Drago = Vitali klitchko
