Rhodes is the big I like....Vaccaro....Elam....still like Cyprientoo....we had some luck with TY from Floria International....kid looks like Bob Sanders.3rd???  I do not think he is rated 9th anymore, but someone may know better than I on this....

 

Jonathan Cyprien, S, Florida International 

Height: 6-0. Weight: 209. Arm: 30 1/2. Hand: 10 1/8. 

Projected 40 Time: 4.60. 

Projected Round (2013): 3-4. 

1/31/13: Cyprien is one of those small-school players who really helped himself at the Senior Bowl. He made his presence felt all week. Cyprien was a tough defender who was hitting hard in the ground game. He also really impressed with his pass coverage by demonstrating the ability to run with receivers and cover tight ends. The passing-driven NFL is looking for safeties with that skill set.

thanks Blood... dat explains why I didn't see him on nfl.com... I'm continued to be pleasantly surprised with Grigson's eye for hidden talent... I don't remembering seeing anything about him and he was never high on anyones list until Grigson's meeting with him and the senior bowl

We have had good luck with FL International.....maybe TY's buddy :)

we arent taking a CB with the first pick and our No.2 pick IS a corner...Vonate Davis

..We dont have a huge need at CB......Our needs begin and end in the lines.

Have you looked at who the Colts have under contract at DB right now? Vontae is the ONLY one of those whose even seen the field. DB is a HUGE need and right up there with O-line as of right now.

Negative. He doesn't fit our scheme at all. He's much better in a zone scheme like a Cover 2/Tampa 2. Rhodes is my favorite CB for our 1st round pick. He'd be perfect..

 

Trufant with an impressive 4.31 unofficial. Shamarko Thomas sure looks and runs a lot like Bob Sanders.

I would LOVE Thomas as a later round pick. He's projected as a 6-7, and maybe takes a little jump with his strong combine showing. He's honestly a young Bob Sanders. Same build, same reckless style and can HIT, but I don't believe has an injury history. Plus, I'd love to see someone from here on the Colts.  :D

This is a great Safety class, but I highly doubt that Cyprien lasts until our 3rd round pick... he is shooting up draft boards and is now widely considered to be the third best safety available... With all of the players that are making names for themselves at the Combine, it might not be to unrealistic to think that Vaccaro falls to us (which, to me, is a no brainer at the end of the first)... I like Rhodes as well at #24, but there will be some surprising names available for us....

Yeah, I think we might also get a shot at Luke Joeckel late in the 7th, he only had 27 reps on the bench, could really hurt his draft stock.

 

I laughed  when I saw that.  Dion Jordan solidified himself as a top 15 if not top 10 pick at the combine.  6'6" and 250 lbs.  He is going to be a nightmare for offenses in the NFL in the mold of Aldon Smith.  I would be psyched if Jordan fell to 24th.

 

As for cornerbacks, I'd be fine with Rhodes or Trufant in the first round.  If we were looking for a future starter in the middle rounds Tharold Simon out of LSU and Banks' teammate Darius Slay would both be good options.  Both have good size and speed and would be capable in our 3-4 man coverage D.  I'm just not sold on Banks yet.  Not only was his 40 time underwhelming but at 6'2" 185 lbs, that seems like a very slight build and while he has nice height, I'd be worried about him being pushed around by heavier receivers.

I agree. Taking Cyprien at 24 wouldn't be a reach. He does seem to play a lot like Bob Sanders. I'd love to see a guy like that get coached up by Pagano.

Considering that we used our second round pick on a corner, I'd be very upset if we used the first pick on another corner.  DBs going 1 and 2 with our pitiful Oline?  No thanks.  Luck will get killed sooner or later....
