I like option B (minus WR Sanders and NT Sopawaga). That would (according to your projections) leave us enough room to sign draft picks and resign Justice as a backup RT and Karim at RB.

I would actually be very impressed with such an active and productive offseason... something like that would give us the core talent at almost every position to make an eventual run at a Lombardi and free us up to look for Reggie's replacement and other luxury picks in 2014 and beyond...

If I had to choose, it would probably be option C. Getting Sopoaga, Kruger, Goldson, Vasquez, and Sanders would be a huge boost without trying to build through the draft (horrible idea). Grigson knows how much money we have in the cap, but I'm sure he doesn't want to go after every Free Agent and collapse under the hype of a dream team, as he saw happen in his time with Philadelphia. Our GM is a smart man, and he knows how to handle a team.

Oh by the way, it looks like SOMEONE really likes Sanders

trade #1 to arizona for 2,3,5

2nd rd-------thomas-s-fresno st.

3rd rd-------montori hughes ----dt----tenn martin

3rd rd---- john simon---de---ohio state

4th rd---marcus davis---wr----va tech

5th---alex hurst----ot----lsu

6th-- sweeting---cb----ga.tech

7th---reed----ilb----smu

Montori Hughes got booted out of Tennessee.  Not too sure of the story there but we don't need a headcase.  Alex Hurst for me is an absolute no.  Watch his highlights on YouTube.  His wheels aren't good enough for the speed of the NFL.  He was like a matador with DEs in the SEC.  Ole'!!!

Reality...

Props to you for such an ambitious undertaking...   appreciate all the hard work that went into it.

If I may, I'd like to offer up some hopefully constructive thoughts for you and others here....   I'll put my answer near your comments in another color...

Its around 1 month to free agentcy so i thought i'd bring you guys a mock. This is a Triple option mock (1A, 1B, & 1C) So i'd like YOU to leave what mock YOU would rather have below! Thanks and enjoy!

1b - Pat MacAfee 4 yrs 10 mil (2.5.yr) Darius Butler 3 yrs 11 mil (3.6/yr) Mioses Fouku 3 yr 7 mill (2.3/yr)

1c - Pat MacAfee 4 ys 10 mil (2.5/yr) Darius Butler 3 yrs 11 mill (3.6/yr) Moisues Fouku 3 yr 7 mil (2.3/yr)

If we get McAfree for your deal, that's the hometown discount.  We may have to go 5/15

Butler is a great unknown and mystery to me.   I want him.  I'm sure the team does, but what his value is is unknown.  But 3/11 feels close, but a bit high.   Not sure what is right?   Your Fouku deal is the real head scratcher.   I don't think back-ups get 3/7. And not for that kind of money.   If he gets half that, Moises will throw a party!   I'd guess 2/2

Pretty identical so far, don't worry it'll get pretty crazy pretty fast.

CAP at this point:

1a - 38.8

1b - 38.8

1c - 38.8

Free Agentcy

1a - Emanuel Sanders WR 3 yr 11 mil (3.6mil/yr)

Sanders will likely get much, much more.  I think Brown got 5 and roughly 42Mill.

Andy Levitre OG 4 yr 22 mil (6.5/yr)

Levitre will get longer and more.   As the best guard, he will.  My guess is 5/35

Sebastian Volmer OT 3 yr 18 mil (6mil/yr)

Think Volmer will get 4/24, at least.\

Arthur Jones DL 3 yr 13 mil (4.3 mil/yr)

Anthony Spencer OLB 5 yr 40 mil (8 mil/yr)

1b -  Emanuel Sanders WR 3 yr 11 mil (3.6/yr)

Louis Vasquez OG 4 yr 20 mil (5 mil/yr)

Think Vasquez will get a little more   4/24 or 5/30

Demond Bryant DL 3 yr 10 mil (3.3/yr)

Bryant will get a lot more.   4 or 5 years and more per year.

Sebastian Volmer OT 3 yr 16.5 mil (5.5 mil/yr)

You dropped Volmer from 6 mill per year to 5.5.   Why is that?

Isaac Sopawaga NT 3 yr  12 mil (4 mil/yr)

Anthony Spencer OLB 5 yr 40 mil (8 mil/yr)

William Moore S 4 yr 20 mil (5 mil/yr)

1c - Emanuel Sanders WR 3yr 11 mill (3.6 mil/yr)

Paul Kruger OLB 5 yr 35 mill (7 mil/yr)

Antwan Barnes OLB 3 yr 13 mil (4.6mil/yr)

I don't see us taking two OLB's in FA.

Desmond Bryant DL 3 yr 10 mil (3.3/yr)

Isaac Sopawaga NT 3 yr 14 mil (4.6/yr)

Louis Vasquez OG 4 yr 20 mil (5 mil/yr)

Dashon Goldson 4 yr 28 mil (7 mil/yr)

Cap Renaming:

1A - 10.4

1B - 4.6 mil

1C - 8.3 mil

Draft:

1A- Round 1: Trade 24th to arizona for 2,3,5.

Round 2: Johnathan Cooper OG North Carolina

Can't see Cooper slipping out of the 1st round unless he tests horribly, has a medical issue, or gets hurt.   Otherwise, he's a 1st R guy.

Round 3: Johnathan Cyprien S Florida Internationa

Not sure he'll be here.

Round 3: Brandon Jenkins OLB

Not sure he'll be here.

Round 4: Tharold Simon CB LSU

Not sure he'll be here.

Round 5: Kwame Geathers DL Georgia

Not sure he'll be here

Round 6: Corey Fuller WR VT

Round 7: Omar Hunter DE Florida

1B- Round 1: Johnathan Banks CB Mississippi St.

Round 3: Larry Warford OG Kentucy

Unless something changes, I don't see him getting past the 2nd round.  And if he does, certainly not the bottom of the 3rd R, unless something goes wrong in the next few months.

Round 4: Michael Buchanan OLB Illinois

Round 6:Corey Fuller WR VT

Round 7: Cornelius Washington DE Georgia

1C- Round 1: Lane Johnson OT Oklahoma

Don't see him falling to 24th overall.   Big surprise if he does.

Round 3: Larry Warford OG Kentucy

A Johnson/Warford twosome in rounds 1/3 would be a home run combo.   Hard to see either happening thought....

Round 4: Tharold Simon CB

Round 6: Quaterus Smith DE Western Kentucy

Round 7: Brandon Moore DT Texas

note: for variety purposes i mocked some free agents i wouldn't usualy have us taking (I.E; Goldson, Kruger, and others) if you would purfure my favorite player for each slot i could do that as a 3.5 in about a week or so.

Honestly did not even think of Karim. Really liked the way he ended the season returning kickoffs. Not tentative at all....

Man give me DJ Fluker in the first. If we can luckily trade back and still get him that would be golden. But give me him at RT and I'm running behind him 80% of the time just like the Texans run behind Duane Brown and Wade Smith about 80% of the time. I get everybody elses 1st round picks and I wouldn't be mad at them. But we desperately need that huge OT to run behind in this new offense and Fluker certainly would be my choice and solidify both tackle positions for a decade hopefully

Also would. You think Barrett Jones's foot injury would drop him in the draft. I didn't know he had surgery on it after the BCS championship and said it would keep him out 2-3 months. Just wondering how far y'all think he would drop in the draft. Mel Kiper said he would be in the mid to late 2nd round pick now

Wow....you put alot into that and your options looked pretty good and well-balanced.

Although I just did my taxes this weekend...so I have no stomach to go through all those cap numbers. haha

Basically, I'm for any formula that results in a starting O-line of...LT Castonzo - LG Louie Vasquez - C Satele - RG Geoff Schwartz - RT DJ Fluker....and adds either OLB Anthony Spencer or Paul Kruger...plus DE Desmond Bryant, SS William Moore and CB Keenan Lewis to our defense.

I respect your opinion on this but alot of the experts disagree with that notion, phil wilson mike chappel and phil richards all say they will not resign many of there own fa and they wont be expensive deals either. Mcaffe will be the only some what expensive one.  Jason lacanfora had a column today basically saying the colts will be one of the most aggressive teams this offseason with signings and trades.  I know the so called experts are wrong from time to time but i trust our beat writers they see grigson taking advantage of this offseason and molding it to how he wants to see this team.  He had his hands tied behind his back last year with the cap.

You honestly believe were only resigning 3 of our own free agents???

It will be well over 3.

I've been reading that NFL talent scouts think that Fluker is a guard at the next level. It still might be prudent to draft him if we are resigning Justice, chances are Fluker would have a good chance to get reps at RT with all of Justice's injury problems and he can play the interior until that inevitably happens...

DJ Fluker is starting at RT as soon as he steps foot in the facilities over Justice or anybody else at RT

I've seen enough of Fluker to say without a doubt he is slow footed

He can be at times but he has elevated his game in pass protection over this past year as compared to last year. Plus he makes up for his slow footing with his freakishly long arms and when he gets his hands on you it's over. Being that the emphasis on the power run game now Fluker is the ideal RT in this man blocking scheme. He constantly destroys his one on one matchups in the run game which would be our driving force in this run game Hamilton is implementing. Mel Kiper and others say he did a heck of a job in pass protection this year, which was the only question about this guy coming into the season. He would be my first round pick with the offense were trying to run now but that's just me

Im thinking trade down we can trade down from 24 to 33 (Chiefs) and pick up an extra 3rd and maybe even 4th? if possible I'd consider drafting this way

2.Alex Okafor-DE/OLB

3.Travis Frederick C/G-Perfect for out Man Blocking scheme

3.Brandon Williams-Can play either NT or 3-4 DE

4.Robert Lester-Ballhawk SS who can hit

4.Tharold Simon-Could be a #2 or at least a better option at Nickel then Vaughn or Powers

6.Dan Buckner-Another Red Zone threat with speed who could really produce in our system

7.Braden Wilson/Kyle Juszczyk real true FullBacks

I would love if we could trade back and get a 2,3,4 ... but I don't know how realistic that is ... I just can't see the Chiefs doing that.

    • In one of the interviews I listened to with Scott and a Tenn Titans reporter a few months back he was asked what's one of the things that separates you? He said probably what is between my ears. High football IQ, understanding of the game and instincts.
    • Agree with you on the draft takes.   For AR's season, I think mediocrity is what we should hope for( compared to other QBs). We should not forget, that this is basically his rookie season and he's still only 22. So if that would get us to 10-7.....HOORAY !
    • Less than 2 months away when the greatest crushes this Jake Paul guy. Tyson in 3. Tyson is getting in great shape, he looks fast and strong as of now.    When I list boxers where they rank all-time, I go by peak. You have to when it comes to boxing because most fighters Don't last long. Mike Tyson from 1985-1995 only lost once in 10 years. His record in that time frame was 43-1 37 KO's. Buster Douglas KO'd him in the 10th round in a fight where Mike didn't even train for and Mike actually KO'd him in the 8th, Douglas got a 13 count.    Notable wins in that 10 year frame.   Berbick Holmes but he was old, still it was Holmes. Tucker  Spinks Bruno Ruddock (twice)
    • I'm excited about our future. I think Ballard put together 2 very nice drafts in a row. Never thought we would get Latu, thought we had a better chance at Bowers. Still holding out hope for Cross, he flashes greatness than dissappears, hope he's consistent. Hope Woods takes lead in TE room. I keep writing off Granson, but he keeps impressing. Even if Richardson has a mediocre season I think the team around him could get us to 10-7.
    • I think you understood his words in a "positive" way, but that's not what he said.   He DID NOT say that "most of you would choose to get married..."   That's your implication. Of course, only women can bring children in this world and most of the women will choose to be married and have children, but that's not exactly what he said.   He said, "doing so - while some others will go on to lead successful career in the world - will take you closer to God's Will"    Here's what he said from the transcript:    He could've said, "even if you go on to have a very successful career, and get the greatest accolades of the world, I think the most important title of a woman is :  Homemaker. And, that would take you closer to God's Will"    But, he didn't say so because he wanted to say exactly what he believes women should do and brought God into that by saying that's His Will.    I think he made a mistake of implying that women are generally excited about marriage and having kids and being a homemaker, when that's only part of a woman's life - even though that could be the most cherished and blessed part of the life.   He only looked at how that made his wife's life - his words, not his wife's words by the way - and projected that to all the women.
