AR vs Bryce Young

Recommended Posts

NFL.com stats show Bryce Young dead last in qb Rating. AR is just above him, which proves we don’t have the worst qb in the NFL yet. Maybe after the Steelers get done with him, but not yet.

Too bad AR isn’t an MLB relief pitcher. Imagine the fear he would strike in hitters with a 100+ mph fastball going god knows where.

Young is just too small and weak to be QB. AR can covert to be a top TE once the QB experiment fails. Bert Jones at his current age probably be a more accurate passer.

No joke.  That's one thing we can say is very, Very, VERY different between the two guys.  Bryce Young looks like a 10 year old out there playing with grown a___ men.  Richardson looks like a tight end playing quarterback.

I was talking the game over with my buddy who is a Bears fan and he brought up a good point.  When you are in high school your best athlete plays QB.  It’s not really until you get to college that they really start working on mechanics and footwork.  Richardson has had what 20 starts since high school?  He hasn’t learned it yet and is still leaning on his being an athlete to get by.  The problem is in the NFL he’s not that significantly better than the other athletes to get by on that alone.  So it’s going to take time for him to learn it which as much as Colts fans don’t want to hear this anymore means requiring patience.  However long it took a guy like Manning, Luck, or Flacco to figure it out it’s probably going to take him longer and we know from Flacco’s own mouth it took him 20 games in the NFL to figure it out and that was with a lot of college starts.

Some fans have never dealt with a rookie QB and it clearly shows. Imagine if the bills were as impatient as some fans here are.

Year 1 made of glass and year 2 in running for defense player of the year. He isn’t a rookie

He's played 7 games. Basically is. You wanting instant ROI just shows how naive you are

Yeah because it’s been 5 years and we still can’t get the Quarterback situation solidified. I’m giving it until week 8 or 9. He has to improve by then

And then what? You become a Panthers fan?

Do you have a plan?  Have you provided your credentials to the Colts front office?

Lol... Seriously.

If I got this bent out of shape over my 'favorite' teams QB I'd 100% find a new team to root for. Way easier on the mind, body and soul...

All I want to see from AR is some form of improvement by seasons end.

This. That’s all it’s ever been. The guy has barely played. It’s always been about his raw potential and we still see flashes of it even now anyways. Honestly imo, he’s doing pretty fine with some things that you see a lot of other rookies or inexperienced players never improve such as poise or reading the defense. I can excuse the occasional bonehead, risky throws and give him a chance to learn from them.

The real issue is just his short and intermediate accuracy. I’m not underselling that either. Some guys just don’t have it. But I’m not convinced yet AR  can’t clean that up. Not sure if it’s mechanics, timing, or what but I feel like if he can just get in a rhythm that he could really light a defense up.

I am really honestly bewildered by all of the AR hate on this forum. It blows my mind tbh,    For the life of me I cannot understand it.  We finally drafted a QB with a super super high ceiling....think Josh Allen but maybe even higher.....after 5 years of old retreads...and people are laying into this guy like I haven't seen since Jeff George or Ryan Leaf.  It really makes me think and go "hmmmmm".  I have my opinions as to why but I will leave it at that.

It is kind of crazy to me.

I thought AR's 4 games last year were spectacular considering how young he was and the lack of experience.   Then bam.  He got a fluke injury.  A pretty traumatic injury.  Something he has never experienced in his life.  Could not really practice all spring/early summer and his shoulder was still hurting as late as early August.  He lost a ton of reps and experience from that injury.

Give him a full season.  Actually 2 full seasons.  Give him a playbook when he gets more experience that uses his speed and strength to its full extent.  I think we will see a Josh Allen player and maybe even better.

And I think Josh Allen is an amazing football Qb.

Colts fans are spoiled when it comes to new QBs.  Manning won 13 games his second year and Luck made the playoffs his rookie year.  Add in the fact people are just tired of the Colts not winning like they did with Manning and Luck and some just have no patience.  I don’t think Irsay is that way.  I think he knew when they took Richardson it would be a process and last year set that back.  That why I think all the people wanting Ballard fired at seasons end are going to be disappointed.

I

We don’t hate the player. AR seems like a nice guy — probably not a rocket scientist — but a good guy who tries to do his best. And he does have an impressive, though inaccurate fastball. We don’t hate anybody related to the Colts but many of us believe our GM and over-the-hill, meddling owner are overmatched by the best organizations.

Picking this guy #4 is malpractice comparable to the #1 pick of Jeff George and the giveaway of John Elway when he bluffed and Bob Irsay blinked. Hopefully a new GM and the next generation Irsays will someday re-install competency.

I think the Colts Offense would’ve been ideal (similar to Alabama’s) for Young- but it just wasn’t meant to be. Our Line could have protected him while he learned.  Sometimes the Player doesn’t fit the System, and his career goes to waste…

Panthers didn’t work for Darnold, and now Young. CJ Stroud should be grateful he ended up in Houston and not Carolina.

They had to pick a QB last year.  Rivers was gone.  So was Wentz.  So was Ryan.  So was Minshew.

What did you want the Colts to do?  I don't even think Ballard is a good GM.  IMO he should have been fired years ago.  But I 100000000% support taking AR where they were drafting.  He has the highest ceiling of all the QBs taken  that year and it isn't even close.  Well well WELL worth the pick.

We don't need more years of Joe Flacco type retreads.

But getting back to the difference between AR and Bryce Young?  From the eye test there is no comparison.  I mean those 2 are in 2 different Universes.    Forget stats and wins and losses.  From a pure eye test standpoint?

AR is light years ahead of BY.

Today AR is ahead, but he wasn’t when they were picked. Young WAS far more accurate in College. And he led a team to a National Championship.  That has to mean something.

It clearly isn’t all the line  in panthers land. Dalton had no issues. Young is small and meak. He gets swamped up. He isnt like Murray. If young had Murray’s body type he might be ok but he doesn’t. He looks like he don’t know what he is doing.

I lived in Pasadena CA when Young was a QB who had his parents drive him from Pasadena where he lived to the HS he graduated from....Mater Dei.  I mean I lived a mile from him.

He was well known then and I watched him a lot on the local cable football games.  He dominated.  But he was always kind of slim and weak looking.  But in HS who cares.

Let me just say he has barely grown since he was a senior in HS.  He dominated back then because he could throw.   But meanwhile every other elite athlete grew 5 inches and added 10-50 pounds.  And are just as fast or much faster.

He is too small.  Too slow.  And not accurate enough.  Just not a good enough athlete.

Reminds me of what Jackson Holliday with the Orioles may be.  Great as a kid.  But never got better.

AR is the completely opposite.  He is a manchild who is still growing and already much bigger than Young will ever be.   I don't think the 2 are even comparable at this point.
