Hope it’s ok to post this.

On a side note, I find this rather skeptical at the moment, could be true, could not be. But they’re not gonna release exact medical information at this stage. For one, hippa laws would cost people their medical licenses

Ehhh IF he is alive, it’s gonna take time to get him stable and give any kind of an update.

when Dale Earnhardt died at Daytona, it was like 2-3 hours before they announced it

I don't want to know. I remember when Korey Stringer died. I hope this guy recovers.

It takes a lot to get an NFL game canceled.  Jovan Belcher shot his girlfriend, then drove to Arrowhead and shot himself in front of Romeo Crennel and Scott Pioli in the Arrowhead parking lot.  They still played the game the next day.

They reported that he is in critical condition.

What? That is awful.

Its almost too much to even ask them to play tomorrow.

Could be a "commotio cordis" condition, triggered by a hard hit on the chest/heart area, if thats the case, immediate first aid may have saved his Life, lets hope.

Based on the most recent US Commotio Cordis Registry data, 58% of individuals have survived a commotio cordis episode in recent years. Overall, survival trends following exercise- or sports-related sudden cardiac arrest from all causes in young athletes is improving.

A reporter would likely get this information at this point from someone connected with the team or the family, not medical staff.

Yeah true. Either way, it ultimately doesn’t matter. Hope this young man survives and recovers.

That reporter who initially reported that was on the field at the time.

Makes me feel guilty for supporting the sport because the truth is as much as I enjoy it the game is violent and can never be safe unless it’s just not played.

Me too. I wish I had not turned it on. But someone or a news story on my phone would have alerted me to this.

I’m avoiding any videos of it. It was bad enough in person, but most of us had no clue how bad it was until we checked our phones…

You are there? Your dad too? If so, get home safe.

I refuse to watch the video. ESPN has not shown it since I turned the game on.

It was scary. Wasn't too violent, just a freak accident. Sad.

Glad they called the game. Most important is they let the players let go so they can support each other and Hamlin.

The game can be played later.

I actually had it texted to me before I was fully aware of what had happened. I was watching the Purdue game and ticker at the bottom said a player was injured but I didn’t catch much more. Bout the same time I logged in here, I got the video sent to me. Doesn’t look bad. Honestly my first thought was concussion, looked similar to Tua back in September the way he got up fine and then fell

We were, but we left not too long after the players went into the locker rooms. My dad knew it was an abnormal situation and the game would be cancelled.

The video, was night that bad. But I get it.. knowing what we know now you might not want to. But he just hit the guy hard. Gave him a little playful nudge on the ground before everyone stood up. Then he just blacked out:(

That is what my brother-in-law and everyone here has said. I still don't want to see it.

It wasn’t the hit itself, there was something underlying that came up at the most inopportune moment because his hit he engaged in wasn’t dramatically different than other hits players with chest plates encounter.

I’m guessing the game is played tomorrow night with same score and time and field position like an outdoor tennis game at French Open interrupted due to rain.

Might move Patriots-Bills and Ravens-Bengals next week to Monday and whoever plays a wild card game from that bunch (might be Ravens-Bengals repeat and Patriots not qualifying) plays the following Sunday. Flacco and Ravens played divisional round game vs bye week top seed Broncos on Saturday after playing wild card game vs Luck on Sunday. So it’s not that bad of a disadvantage.

Sounds like a good plan. They will make it work as we never missed a game during covid
