What do folks think about this format?

Love it!!! Probably, if done a week ago, might have gotten a few more GMs, I am assuming but at least we keep it moving much faster with this format. When the compensatory picks come on, it can become a drag for those who want to get to bed, other than that I love it.

Love it! This is much better and faster paced. People who don't show up don't slow down the mock for hours. We accomplish a lot more this way, and might even be able to have 2-3 of these a year from now on.

I prefer this format to what we normally do, as it is easier to plan ahead and its less likely I get caught up with work like I do midday. That being said my picks usually come with a longish write up, so i find myself scrambling at times to get it up in time if my pick gets sniped. I think even 10 minute time periods would be acceptable in the future. Do half a round an evening. Gives a bit more time for trades for those that like to do them (not that I trade much). Overall im for this format tho.

I prefer it too. The only problem is that some of those who normally participate like @Clem-Dog, @Zoltan , @John Hammonds and a few others could not participate. Maybe next year. But it was great to have the usual folks and some new ones like @JoeThornburg, @Coltsman1788, @PRnum1 and @RNGDShobby (fairly new) and a few others who participated a lot.

I've had a blast doing this with yinz. You guys really have your stuff together and you can tell a lot of effort is put into it. Super fun.

IME, doesn't really matter when you do it. You will always have laggards lol. It just always gets hard beyond R3 or R4 if you're on a board with a ton of folks you really don't know.

Yup, it's really hard for folks to constantly monitor. I know personally I normally can't be a good GM when things are more free flowing.

When you go longer, it really extends things. I do like a 10 minute window though when you have a ton of people you are confident in to show up. Normally need to limit the rounds too as folks get fatigue after 3-4 nights.

Thomas was a top 100 guy coming out of HS.

I'd like to see him switch to S where I think he'd have a better chance.

I read he was considered a top-45 player in 2019. Didn’t play in 2020, which hurt his stock.

143) Minnesota Vikings (comp) 1105 @luv_pony_express East take

Ade Ogundeji  NOTRE DAME  5.84    DE

who IMO will be a steal late rounds, and at minimum be a very solid #2 or package guy

144) Miami Dolphins (Chiefs comp) 1110 @EastStreet take

Christian Uphoff  ILLINOIS STATE  6.00    SAF,

who IMO could be small school kid that turns into an elite stud after a year.

That's a wrap folks.

Again, big thanks to all you, and especially @NFLfan and @chad72 for their hard work!

I think doing half a round a night would help with that though. If it isnt every night that you HAVE to be there, the fatigue wont hit as hard. With the old format the fatigue hit because of having to constantly keep an eye how far away your pick was, so you were always following along every day just in case people all of a sudden sped up. I think only having to show up for a 20-30 min period every 2nd day would help.

That's an insane amount of picks this early. I really struggled with offering up what I did in the 4th but the first 2 rounds were just nuts. I'm just glad I fixed the biggest problem on my team and got a quality slot CB who should eventually be able to hop outside.

I'm pretty high on the bolded above, but love overall what you did. Moehrig should be really good too. Toney is a ? to me a bit, but I like his chances. Tommy is a great blocker, just not sure I like him as a receiving TE. Surratt is project, but a very very good one IMO. Hubbard and Toney are great value that late.

I'm happy with mine too.

6 OT Sewell,
18 DE Oweh,
36, OC Landon Dickerson
50, WR Rondale Moore
91 RB Javonte Williams
127, WR Tutu Atwell
144 S Christian Uphoff

Pretty sure I have 5 day one starters, possibly 6 if Uphoff is who I think he is. Atwell is a project, but love what he brings even if he's the #2 gadget guy behind Moore or just ends up being a stud return guy.

I'm relatively happy with the Titans so far. Not as many picks as the Dolphins, but I've managed to acquire some good players.

Round 1.) Azeez Ojulari OLB

Round 2a.) Tylan Wallace WR

Round 2b.) Asante Samuel Jr CB

Round 3.) Spencer Brown OT

Round 4.) Kenneth Gainwell RB

They should definitely make an impact on this Titans team with a ton of holes in their 53 man roster.

You initially were not sure if you would be able to participate. Now you will be breaking down some film on prospects. That's great.

I really really like Brown. I know he may need time, but think he could end up being very good after a good year of S&C. I'm assuming they'll start him out on the right side, but I think he's the type that could move to the left once he gains some strength and gets used to the NFL.

Perfect team for Ojulari.

That was why I wasnt sure if I had the time. I havent had the time to get into my tape study as much as previous years, so I figured id be playing blind for a good chunk of this. Been going surprisingly well, but my knowledge of this draft class is about to fall off a cliff hard. Lol

    • For your consideration….   Nobody knew who Ebukam was when the Colts signed him week 2 last year.   And nobody knew who Denico Autry was when the Colts signed him in week 2.   “Who?” Was the most popular comment both times.  They turned out really well.      Im not sayin Ballard is going to do it again this year, it hasn’t happened every year, all I’m saying it’s happened from time to time so it’s still possible that CB will find a keeper that people here will like.
    • Could he do it?  Sure, but it is much tougher for him than most owners in the NFL.  The Colts just layed out $200 million this free agency.  I imagine over half in guaranteed money.  That’s a lot for Jim.
    • With all that said...
    • Spending doesn't mean you will win. You still need to spend smart and you still need to draft well and overall make good decisions.    Not spending limits you in your roster construction. I don't know why it's so hard for people to understand. The best teams in the league use ALL available avenues for improving their team. They do not limit themselves artificially with what's possible to achieve. They also concentrate resources into windows of contention. This means at any given time, if you are not spending you are competing against teams that are pouring resources into trying to win it RIGHT NOW. You will just always be at disadvantage because while 1 specific team will need to reload and take their lumps for spending too much in short period of time once in a while, the league as a whole will always have at least a few teams that are in that high spending mode chasing a window for contention.    Now... is it possible you strike gold and beat those teams while relying almost exclusively on the draft? It's possible. If you string together a few insane draft classes. But it's not very likely...
    • This gets peddled like it means spending in FA doesn’t work. The Rams won a Super Bowl by spending. The Colts don’t spend and haven’t won bupkis since Ballard got here.    I’m not saying the Colts should just spend mindlessly and I don’t think that’s what anyone wants. But, Ballard’s gotta cover his draft misses by spending in FA otherwise we’ll never win with him at the helm.
