Who is the best player in the 2018 draft?

I defined 'best' as someone who will end up with the most Pro-Bowl and All-Pro accolades once they retire.

I think “best” means if your team was solid all around and did not have any holes to fill, who would you pick? Basically, who is the biggest luxury pick. I chose Saquon even though I don’t want us to take him.

I think Best is determined by which player makes his team better and HELPS them WIN more often.

With saquon and nelson being the top 2 choices as the best players in this draft per these votes, its seems like more people would on board to choose either of them with our pick, regardless of which position they play. I know guard is not typically a highly coveted position, but quenton nelsons and saquon Barkleys dont come around every year either. If you have an elite talent available, i think you should choose him.

It's Barkley...    all the top analysts say so.

 

He's a rare and special talent. 

 

That said....   I think on balance this is a mostly disappointing draft class.

 

Most drafts I'd say are in the typical Bell Curve...   so C-plus to C-minus.

 

Last year's draft was an historically good class on defense.

 

The strength of this draft class is on offense.   Very good RBs and QBs.   That said, all of the QBs are flawed.  There's no Andrew Luck.   I'm not even sure there's a Carson Wentz.   Lots of talent that teases but may not please.

 

But WR is dreadful...  Just awful.   OT is better than last year but still disappointing.  OG is good and C is good as well.   Tight End is a better than expected class considering last year's class was very good.

 

And offense is the strength if the draft!

 

Defense much less so....

 

As of today, I think this overall draft is a real C-minus.   I hope Ballard can find his nuggets.   I think he's got his work cut out for him.

I'll say Darnold.  He'll have a great pro day and the NFL world will again right itself by looking at a franchise rookie QB as the best player.

I think talent wise it's Barkley.

Nelson hands down.  Many "experts" have claimed him to be the best player and most reliable pick of the draft.  Saying he looks to be better than his old teammate Zach Martin (rookie pro-bowler).  Barkley has a lot of hype behind him as well and looks the part but I am sticking my Nelson by a hair.

Quentin Nelson. If he were an Offensive Tackle he would have no competition as the consensus #1 pick in the draft. He is extremely special!

I think it's Nelson when you draw companions to Logan Makins and John Hannah that's big! The guard position isn't sexy but when you don't have one it's notcialble, and when you do have one you get a beast for 10 plus years!! Something to be said about that!

I think Nelson will be the best player out of this draft in the future.

But neither one is the most valuable player in the draft.
