Draft Day 3 Thread

Recommended Posts

The next time you say something insightful will be the first.

Please be sure to send up a flare so none of us misses it!

Parry is NOT an UDFA player.    And if you'd simply read this thread,  you'd know it.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.  When you don't have a good reply just use sarcasm or say something personal......dummy.

This is a lousy pick for us with who is left on the board.

And if you'd simply bother to read you would've seen that I have issues of my own with this pick -- and I'm a Stanford fan!

But you're not interesting in reading because that would mean....  learning.

And you already think you know more than everyone else.     Dummy.

The more you post,  the worse you look.

Great David Parry quote that he gave to the Colts today.....

ffe282510964cf2783abd660827b4f50_normal. 20m

Kevin Bowen @KBowenColts

DT-David Parry describing his style in the trenches: "There's a certain level of violence that needs to be used to play in this game."

THAT'S David Parry in a nutshell.    Like Henry Anderson,  you'll always feel like you're getting MAXIMUM effort from them every game.

Perhaps Hughes, Kerr, and Chap don't work hard enough in the coaches eyes, and this guy, as well as Anderson, are here to show them how it done. Just another speculation.

He couldn't play at DE/DT.

He's short and stocky.    Short legs,  short arms.   He's a fire hydrant.     Not even close to the profile of DE or DT

He's got to be somewhere around the center to do any real damage.

OK, good point. But what about him as DT right next to the NT in order to help stop the run when that is in the cards?

 ....I'm sorry NCF, I can't resist....but what passes for violence at Stanford?.....

I suppose if it's 4th and 1,  maybe.    But again, he's so small by comparison to everyone else we have.

The Colts are so size-conscious.   We're the heaviest team in the NFL.    Number one.    I'm trying to figure out how Parry fits?

I confess, I need to hear Grigson/Pagano talk about how they see Parry fitting in.    Until i hear from them,  I'm somewhat in the dark.

Love the kid.   Question the fit.    Want to hear our plan for him.

lol...  funny stuff....    no offense taken!

That's what Stanford looked like from roughly 2002 to 2006.   Five of the worst years you ever saw any college team suffer through.     We looked just like that!

But,  since then,  we've transformed ourselves from the 98-pound weakling to the Big Beach Bully.

We don't win with freakish athleticism....   Stanford wins by playing smart,  hard and efficiently.    We're bigger and stronger than most everyone we play.    We wear people down.

We're actually a fun team to cheer for.    Best kept secret in college football!

Maybe it is time to stop being so size-conscious? Pats have made fools of us, so we need to try something else? But yes, I'm looking forward to Grigson/Pagano's take on him.

I don't know, sometimes the odd out is what you need.

Fun Prediction:

Gavin is going to be happy!

I think the Colts are going to draft one of his favorite running backs.

Isn't he big on John Crockett?    Or am I confusing him with someone else?

Gavin?     You out there?

Isn't Terry Williams a knucklehead? I thought he got suspended by his school twice....once for almost the entire season.

I think he was last year but not this year. I feel he can hold the NT position by kid year starting.

Im here....still scratching my head over the Clayton Geathers pic...Right round...wrong player to me, Hopefully he takes to coaching and improves his angles and tackling

I didn't like what I saw there either. They said he is a thumper...but I didn't see that either.

    • Ballard does have thick skin.  You just choose to not to see it that way.      Ballard is the face and voice of the franchise.  Irsay’s health does not make him an effective public face of the franchise.  Frank was OK, Steichen less so.   So Ballard does the lion share of teams PR.    And Ballard has always said he’d rather the fans be angry than be apathetic.  Shows they care.  Of course, you know this but choose not to acknowledge it because it undercuts your distorted view of CB.   I don’t know what CBs relationship is with Kevin Bowen who I like.   So let’s say it’s complicated.   But on balance I think Ballard has a good relationship with the local media.  I’d be surprised if he didn’t.  He is loved by national media.  He’s got a personality and a sense of humor.  I’m sorry you don’t care for it.    Of course you have yet to acknowledge that you and Moose literally said that Ballard didn’t know enough about Mitchell to know if he was a good guy.   For a man in your profession, THAT is a whopper.  Why you thought that is a mystery?   By the way, hope you notice that at least twice I’ve now said you’re smarter than you show.  There’s a compliment in there somewhere if you let yourself see it.    But I think you’ve painted yourself into a corner.  You come across as someone who’d rather be right about Ballard being bad even if it means the Colts do poorly than be wrong and have the Colts do well.    The reason Irsay hasn’t fired Ballard for the teams record is because Irsay approved of what CB was doing in real time.   Believe what you want but Irsay has done the GM job himself so he knows how it goes.  And he has chosen to keep Ballard.  Unless you don’t like Irsay too, you might want to consider that.  Life is more fun being optimistic than negative.     Sorry this went so long.
    • I think it’s backwards.  MPJ is definitely Reggie based on skill set and tendencies.  AD can become Marvin with his explosiveness.   Raimann - I think he’ll be Castonzo.  Ol reliable, underappreciated, majority won’t realize how good he was until he’s gone.   AD - if he becomes what we think he can, Ocho Cinco.  Cocky, competitive, but will perform his butt off and will dance every chance he gets lol   Jelani Woods - Jimmy Graham, fast for his size, walking mismatch.
    • speaking of which, I’m about to win some good money.  I bet that brown would be FMVP, the Celtics would win the series, and it last at least 4 games.
    • more reason to believe that after the top 3 wide receivers, Latu was their guy.  To not accept an offer to move back ONLY 4 spots and gain a top 100 pick is hard to do.  Bet if the rams through in a second instead of a third we might’ve took it.   think about it, if you move back 4 spots you’d still have a shot at one of the two top corners or even Dallas turner.  And we said no thanks, we want Latu.
