Colts Waiver wire/PS signings thread

Just to expand.  I think that there are younger players that we have who could out perform him in the long run.  Not to say that he will be cut even though my words pointed to that.  I think he could be replaced by one of them, but time will tell. I certainly could be wrong.  I just like some of the young linebackers that we have between Muamba, Jackson, and Mcnary.

Now if you are changing it ( rather than what you say below)  to " I think he could lose a lot of playing time" to those young guys you mention , I would say that I actually agree with you. I like McNary a whole lot and Muamba looks like a player also. What I read you to say is you think it's likely we cut D Jackson. That is just so unlikely for the reason's I gave. I didn't try to make you look silly and was not nasty. I just pointed out why it would be very unlikely to happen.

" I don't think Dqwell Jackson is going to be with us next year.'

It's pretty much a 2 year deal that he signed. It's written to be able to cut him AFTER year two as the total cap hit will only be 500k. I agree with you that he's stop gap and was not really crazy about that signing. However my point is it would be a major upset if he didn't make the 53 next year and probably inly a career ending injury would bring that about. The problem is we have a poster that really says some off the wall things  and will just stick by his guns regardless of how you try to help him understand why he's sounding silly.

I don't believe that is the problem at all.

I believe we have a fellow Colts fan who is paying very close attention to what we are doing at linebacker, and how important both ILB and OLB are to the success of this defense. He is just pointing out the building blocks of the process, and adding a plausible projection.

We have a lot of good young talent at both ILB and OLB, and if one of the ILB'ers develop to the point that he is clearly outplaying DJax, then I doubt what we are paying either of them will dictate who we field.

I know Sam is a big name that has cleared waivers.  Would anyone want to see Andy Studebaker or Cam Johnson cut for him?  NO!!  We kind of like our PS guys too...

Andy and Cam can play in our defense because they are built for it.

Sam cannot, as he is a designated pass rusher out of a 4-3 defense. He is not fluid enough to drop back and cover like we ask our OLB's to do.

I'm glad you can see this!  Who really thinks DJax is going to be here for years and years to come?

Some other people are not as sensible as you.

The fact that you said this and Blue shoes "liked it " is amazing. You two guys really should get together and have a beer or two . What I said was that it's ridiculous to say that D Jackson will not be with us next year.  Nothing about "years and years." The fact that you two guys can't read and don't understand a signing and it's implications is laughable. Nothing about  how good the young guys are or how good or bad D Jackson is. What I said is there is no way Grigson cuts him in year two (injury aside) after signing him to that contract. It's a 4 year deal that pretty much "screams " at you that it's a two year commitment. It's really sad that you can't understand that , I feel for you.

Honestly Brent out of all 3 of those young linebackers we have I think they are talented enough to outplay Djax within a years time.  I think Djax is a vet who can still play the game, but I think the younger guys we have are more talented than Djax.  I do not think they are so raw that it will take a whole bunch of time for him to be unseated.

I would love to see Freeman and McNary.  The "Officer" is an immovable object when he tackles...AND wraps.  Love it.

This right here ^^^^^^  That was precisely the answer I wanted :)

No where do I say that D jackson can't lose his starting job in the next two years. What I say is he will not be cut due to the guaranteed 4.6 million $ roster bonus he receives next year. Learn to read my friend and when you do come back at me.

Obviously he would be perfect in that offense. Maybe chip gives him another chance later on.

Perhaps, but the injury doesn't sound serious..I hope he gets a chance somewhere..I really liked him at Oregon..

Eagles running back/return specialist Kenjon Barner suffered a left ankle injury in the first half of Thursday's preseason finale against the Bills. X-rays came back negative, and the team ruled him out for the remainder of the game.

I'm going to try this once more and then I'll stop.  Your point about the contract makes sense it certainly does, but I never made a statement of fact.  I said "I Think", and whenever I hear someone say I think it means they are unsure or don't have all the info.  It was only my opinion without looking at contracts and all of the details.  I don't feel I needed to go that far as I am not getting compensated for my time and this is all conversation for the sport I love and it appears you love it too.

I haven't had many converstation with Blue Shoes that I can recall, but apparently he understands where I am coming from when I say things.

Here is his first post and my reply. I only tried to help him understand why D Jackson would in all likelihood be with the team next year. I' mean I can say I think Hilton will get cut next year and that would be a ridiculous statement and I would expect someone to correct me on why that's not probably going to happen. As you can see below .....

Bruh is going to be a beast for us on down the road.  Soon as I saw him suited up I could picture him next to J. Freeman busting heads on game day.  I don't think Dqwell Jackson is going to be with us next year.  We have too much young talent

It would either be an injury or a real "baffoon" job by Grigson if Dqwell jackson is not with the Colts next year. He was paid 4.5 million for this year and has a guaranteed $4.630,000 roster bonus for 2015.

I've read over DW49 posts many times and more than half of the time he says stuff that I agree with.  Some of the things I say do need to be deciphered at times, but if I am not sure on a point you can see it in my words because I'll say stuff like "I think" or "Possibly" or whatever they case.  When I do that then there is no reason to argue with me in most cases.  Just shed some more light from your own perspective and I certainly can see the point.

Krunk... I only tried to point out to you why your opinion that he "wouldn't be here next year " was not backed by sound logic when you look at the contract Grigson gave him. Even if he deserved to be released , Grigson would probably try to save a little face and keep him as a back up. Gosh guy... all you had to do was say something like "i didn't realize his contract was written like that ..." Instead you come up with "time will tell." try something like "you have a point ?"  Anyway ..lets drop it and we do both like the young LBer's , so there's some common ground

Let's clear some ground here D Dub(DW49).  I said time will tell because I wasn't sure that I even wanted to enter the conversation with you.  Why was I unsure?  Because the last conversation I started with you began with "K Krunk" "Sure".  It was strange to me because I couldn't recall having many conversations with you to be honest.  So I responded in like kind my friend with something that was strange.

Who cares? If I attacked every person who said something incorrectly on this board then I would never see another paycheck, because I would be too busy making corrections on this board. You have to learn to overlook that stuff man, unless someone comes at you cause then you have to start throwing back. Hell, I am an avid Colts fan for over 30 years, and I'm sure I have said things that need to be corrected. I am also sure you are not prone to this. No one here is, even though some believe they are.

Your point is that DJax could lose his job to one of the younger players, but only through injury will he be cut in 2015, due to his contract. Krunk said that the younger players could outplay DJax to the point that he gets cut.

Yes, I agree more with you on this, but I like Krunk's attitude better. And I also understand that Krunk made that statement out of excitement for the younger LB's coming up in the system, so I overlooked it.

To be honest, you're acting like a person who has been bullied so much that he has become the bully. I have seen that happen to a lot of good people on these boards over the years. Just learn to let it go man. Trust me, you will get much more enjoyment out of life, and probably have more fun on these types of boards.

I can remember a time when fans came to Colts boards to associate with other fellow Colts fans. Now it just seems like a oneup-manship sniper fest, and that can get annoying.

Pull up a chair and have a beer with us, and just let it go.  :blueshoe:

Jeff Matthews was a wonderful signing!

Gotta admit, Mathews has a rocket launcher for an arm.  I had to pull up some highlight vids on him. I didn't watch a lot of Cornell games last year -- or any other year for that matter -- actually I've never intentionally watched a Cornell game.  He looked great, even though some of his receivers seemed to have a bad case of "DHB hands".  This looks like he could possibly be a big upgrade over Harnish.

I used to want to be correct and precise about everything I said on this board, but I had to realize I don't get paid for this stuff and there are others on here who know more than me.  I'm just cool talking about Colts stuff at this point and I realize that everyone here has brought something to the table at one time or the other.  There's a huge opportunity to challenge people on here, but that's not what it's about. It's about expressing and sharing what's on your mind regarding the team we are all very passionate about.  Most of the time it's just feelings which are neither right or wrong.  It's just how you felt.  There are people who contribute on this board who I think are much more accurate than me in some areas but that doesn't make may opinion any less valid!

I'm gonna talk my talk big dawg!  Best believe that, and I invite everyone else to talk theirs.  In the grand scheme of things I have a life to live with integriy and a family to take care of.  Those things surpass Colts Football by a long shot.  That's what keeps me from taking this stuff too seriously.

he had a cult following amongst amateur GMs. Really impressive talent. He will hopefully be our backup of the future, maybe garner a draft pick.

I can certainly respect and appreciate that.

What I find funny, is how people write things on here they would never say to a persons face. dw49 that is not a dig at you. I am just talking in general here.

I like reading people's posts who think outside of the box. It helps me look at things from different angles.

In the end, none of us have any control over what happens with the Colts, unless Grigson and his team are members of this board. I am quite sure the Colts make you sign something as soon as they hire you, agreeing to never participate on these boards. What we can do as fans is notice the patterns. I had Polian's patterns down pretty well, as did some others. I am starting to see some with Grigson. These patterns can help us make educated guesses that are usually in the right area code. Other than that we are just fingers on a keyboard.

Can you play Boom if he will need to block? Go Boom, but the guy doesn`t even make any attempt, so far he is LOST!

I know he is a good blocker.  I think everytime I have seen him he is running the ball well and catching passes.  I did not see every minute of the preseason.  If he was lost he definitely needs to up his intensity to protect Andrew!! :blueshoe:  :blueshoe:
