Stand pat, HE'S A 3RD STRING RB!

RB's are a dime a dozen, easily can replace Vick Ballard. And we have 3-4 guys behind Ahmad & Trent who can do it

lol Ballard when healthy is a starting rb, Did ya watch him run behind the trash we had to call an O Line his rookie year, He would have probably had 1000 yards behind that junk had he started all 16 games

No, when healthy on the Colts he's a 3rd string back now.

Starter on other teams? Yes (few since guys like AP, Lynch, etc etc are around) but yes other teams he is

Ballard wasn't gonna start for us, so therefore it's not a huge loss as people are making it

Anything but trade!!

Well let's not get hasty here. If we could trade Sheppard to Dallas for I think his name is Dunbar, I'll take that haha

Any trade that rids us of Sheppard I'll take. Seriously don't see him making the 53 if Mcnary & Jackson are ILB's for us behind Freeman & D Jackson

I strongly disagree with considering the injuries we have had at runningback the last couple of years.  The more starting caliper runningbacks the better.

I don't think any running back that is worthy of making a 53 man roster is available if we only trade them Sheppard.

Uh no, the more starting caliber RB's you have..... The more trouble cause one's gonna feel like they deserve more carries etc etc

You have ONE main back, then 2 backups.

Example: Texans with Tate & Foster. Tate eventually got tired of sitting cause he felt he should be starting but we all know Foster is the better RB. You can't have 2 or more starting caliber RB's, nothing but trouble

Meh, We can get plenty of young good Backs with potential I bet for Sheppard, Now we wont get any established Back for Sheppard of course, But I'd trade Sheppard for several undrafted Backs

I'd rather get a sixth or seventh round pick if possible. So we'd have more picks in next years draft that we can maneuver when needed.

Bills have Fred Jackson and C.J. Spiller

San Fran is loaded at the rb spot

Bengals have Benjarvis Green Ellis, Jeremy Hill, Giovani Bernard

Raiders have MJD and Darren McFadden who if both are healthy are obviously starters

Just admit it this team has the worst luck imaginable.   I more than anyone love the delusional optimism of the fans but sometimes you just have to admit that the only luck this team has is Andrew Luck and they are never going to catch a break.

I don't think we would have to throw in a draft pick at all for an unestablished rookie who went undrafted or was a late rounder (6-7th) but I don't think it will come down to that at all, Its gonna be a wait and see game I think, As it should be in my opinion

I agree we should wait and see all available options, but I didn't mean we should throw in a draft pick, I said I'd rather gain a draft pick from trading Sheppard than grab a low round running back.. if they have potential I couldn't see their respective teams trading them anyway.

1. Fred Jackson is very injury prone

2. Outside of Gore, none of their RB's are starters. Lattimore is a ?

3. Hill is a rookie, law firm is fading into Bernard's shadow

4. Don't make me laugh with the Oakland comment. McFadden is washed up which is sad since he's young, he's always hurt. And MJD is also washed up

Ballard off an ACL injury was going to be the 3rd RB this year. This was not a huge loss. It opens the door for Rainey to potentially greatly improve our return game and give us a game breaker out of the backfield. All reports I have heard is he looks to be back to very explosive status. We have Boom who knows the offense see what Tipton can do.

If we are still not happy after cuts there will be plenty of vets or UDFA's available to bring in. I am guessing we would go with a vet.

This is really lame for Vick he was a good back but he wasn't coming in off an ACL surgery to take the starting job. Realistically he would have started this year as our 3rd string back some guys are never the same after an ACL injury now the Achilles's not good for his career. I wish him the best.

Unless Grigs has someone kid playing Arena ball he has been watching since Pop Warner we stand pat for now. We have 5 backs on the roster not including FB's. We can only keep 53 I think we are ok.

1. Fred Jackson has missed 12 games the past 6 seasons, hardly injury prone, and he just played 16 games in 2013. He is a great complement to Spiller.

2. Not many runningbacks are going to start over Gore, doesn't mean they aren't good or solid contributors.

3. Bengals knew what they were doing when they drafted Bernard. Green-Ellis still shows flashes of his old self and is still a good number 2, Hill is going to be good as well.

4. Not gonna say they are done, but having a healthy MJD will be good, though it is hard to believe Run DMC will stay healthy.

It is good to have solid contributors and guys who can carry the load when the number one is out, and some of these number twos have started on other teams before.

Fred Jackson has really only missed 12 games in the last 6 seasons? Or has he missed 12 in the last 3? Depends on how you look at it, By the way he is hurt right now lower body injury Bills don't think it is serious, He is breaking down nice spin though.

49ers have LaMichael James, and a rookie 2nd round pick Hyde behind a 31 year old Gore.  Hunter has a torn ACL don't think they are as impressed with their backs as you are

Bernard isn't an everydown back he is the lightning to Hill's thunder that is a running back by committee. With backs dropping I could see the law firm getting traded maybe for some WR help for AJ Green

The Raiders are the Raiders.

It is July. Being hurt a little bit right now doesn't mean much in the long run lol. Hyde is a great runner and runningback is one of the easiest transition positions. I'm telling you, I'm sure the 49ers are happy with their backs, especially since each back is complemented by the QB who is a giant RB himself. Bernard is indeed an every down back and he was only a rookie, though I don't think many would argue that he and Law firm wouldn't start on other teams, like you said, trade bait.

You're right though. Raiders are Raiders lol.

    • Exactly.  I read that from a different source (but all reports may have originated from one source).    If the trade was made, that would again reshuffle the deck of players Ballard had to choose from, impacting on the quality of the draft to some player probably less than Latu.  I bet Ballard had no clue that ATL would try to trade up but be rejected by another, like he had it all figured out.  Has a guess, but no real working knowledge about what teams ahead of him will do.      Only Polian used to tell us he knew what other teams in front of him would do, an in every round.  LOL.
    • I thought it looked like it was drawn on with a marker or something. You can see it briefly in the video too
    • Then after the game he acts like this…   Just throw the whole * dude away, he’s just garbage top to bottom. Hopefully the league drops the hammer on his dumb * and he’ll have plenty of time for podcasting. What a piece of %.
    • I respect this Knicks team, their fans and media not so much. They think they are better than us because they live in a big city. Snobby to be honest. I remember the 90's when they were mocking us 'being Country like' and calling us Hayseeds. They have all the big celebrities that go to their games, like Spike, Jon Stewart, Tracy Morgan, etc..  My early look at this series:   -Brunson is going to be a problem, he is a Superstar, Haliburton is as well but not as consistent as Brunson is at scoring the ball. Haliburton is a better passer though, that is almost a wash. Brunson may be a tad better, but the Pacers have McConnell as well for depth, see my next point.   -Pacers have more depth   -Pacers are a better 3-point shooting team   -Pacers are a better Offensive team   -Knicks are better defensive team   -Knicks have HCA   This series is going to end up 2 ways. Either Pacers in 6 or Knicks in 7. Pacers will win in 6, if we can get one of 1st 2 games. If we fall behind 2-0, I doubt we can win 4 out of 5 against them.    Rebounding will be a huge key to this series as well. The team that gets a lot of 2nd chance points, will be the team that will probably win. The Pacers have the better Big's with Turner and Pascal but the Knicks are a scrappy bunch.
    • He’s our dog man.  I gotta feeling he’s going to be a monster.
