The AFC is paving it's way for the Colts?

Patriots without Gronk, broncos team falling apart especially on defense, flacco slightly tears MCL, colts slowly coming together what more can we ask for?

What advantage would we have if we get the #2 seed. Is there a chance we can get home field advantage all playoffs? Since we beat bronco's?

Unfortunately the Chiefs have been playing good the last couple games :( although against garbage teams.

Still have to get through them first this Sunday and hope the other teams that the Colts need to lose, lose.

It's still possible for the Colts to get the #1 seed, but not very likely.

No. Denver being the 1 seed means they get homefield regardless.

Advantages to being a 2:

An extra week of rest

One less game to play to be superbowl bound

Homefield for both playoff games if the 1 seed loses

You want the highest seed possible.

With all of this, what if the colts won the Super Bowl.  No body expects us to do anything, but the great thing about the NFL is nothing is ever certain.  No one thought the Giants and Ravens were gonna win the Super Bowl the years before.  I think Andrew Luck will be in Elite QB conversation if he is able to win the Super Bowl with the lack of talent we have on offense.  Just because certain teams are suppose to win doesn't mean they will.

I'm sure the 11-3 Broncos are not falling apart. It is safe to say that they will be 1 seed. Don't count the Patriots out when they have Mr. Tom Brady. Not even sure if the Ravens can get into playoffs. For now the Chiefs are the problem. If we win then we have a pretty darn shot at 2 seed.Home field advantage do have its merit but sometimes the home team is under more pressure to win than the away team.

I was thinking we had a pretty good record against KC, and even at their house.  I found this data @ http://mcubed.net/nfl/kc/ind.shtml

KC is 4-8 against the Colts at home. (unless I errored when counting the above data)  We can win at Arrowhead.  I believe it will come down to the defense.  If the Raiders can score 31 against that defense, we should be able to score too.  Let's go COLTS!

If we are to beat KC at their house this year, our offense better score early and our lb's better be able to defend that short middle of the field and the nt needs to stand their ground in the middle. Alex smith is just good enough to keep drives going long and keep our offense off the field. Who knows what kinda team and schemes we will bring this Sunday, we have shown the ability to beat the best but also the ability to get beat badly by avg teams to and struggle against subpar teams. We will see soon what we got, time to bring the A game

That would require the Bronco's to implode and lose to 2 pretty weak teams back to back.  So yeah it's not realistic.

If the Pats start to crumble without Gronk, the Bengals lose 1, and the Colts win out then we could get to #2.

BTW who holds the tie breaker between us and the Pats?

Here are the NFL tie-breaker rules:

  1. If the tied clubs are from different divisions, apply the following steps.

Two Clubs

  1. Head-to-head, if applicable.
  2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
  4. Strength of victory.
  5. Strength of schedule.
  6. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
  7. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
  8. Best net points in conference games.
  9. Best net points in all games.
  10. Best net touchdowns in all games.
  11. Coin toss.

If the Pats and Colts have 5 losses, we should have a better strength of victory since we both will have a loss to an NFC team (Panthers and Rams) and conference record will be same if the Pats lose to the Ravens. So, the next tie-breaker is common opponents, with a minimum of four.

Pats and Colts have played Dolphins, Bengals, Texans, and Broncos. Pats will be 3-2, we will be 3-2. So, we will be tied there.

Next is strength of victory. With wins over the 49ers and Seahawks and if we beat Chiefs, we will win the strength of victory. :)

So, if Pats lose this week and Colts win and Bengals win, Bengals are #2 and we are #3, Pats are #4.

Got it thanks!

A Colts win along with a Pat's loss and a Bengals loss could get us to #2.  I doubt that happens though.

If the Colts and the Pats finished with the same record, we would have the tiebreaker because we would have a better AFC conference record.  Since the Pats went 3-1 vs. the NFC and we went 2-2

That's not true.  The Pats went 3-1 vs the NFC.  We went 2-2.  So if we both finish with the same record we would by default have to have a better inter-conference record.

If the Colts and the Pats end up 11-5, then it never gets to strength of victory.  Colts & Pats haven't played each other so the 2nd tiebreaker is conference record.  Colts would be 9-3 and the Pats would be 8-4.  We've lost to 2 NFC teams (Rams & Cards), Pats have lost to one (Panthers).

Ok, I'm expecting a KC blow out this week. Colts play very vanilla and learn a lot about the chiefs. We then play them first round in playoffs and win in a close game. I don't know why I feel this way, but I've been thinking how important this game is to KC and only semi-important to the Colts.

Its more important to Indy than KC though.

The Colts are not coming together. They played a worthless Texans team that has given up on the season. The same issues that have plagued the Colts are still there. The offensive line is not better, the receivers are still struggling with getting open and catching the ball when they do get open, and the defense can't generate a consistent pass rush.

I expect we will beat Jacksonville as they will want the highest pick possible going into the draft. It will be very tough to beat KC.
