Doubt it unless we get a free kick like SF did before the half yesterday.

Yeah...I was thinking that last night during the game.  I hope we get a chance to see that.

Boomstick does make long FGs in practice but that is without the defense or pressure being put on him. I have seen him also play a couple of other positions in practice as well. Most of us already know that he is a very good athlete who probably could play other positions if he chose to. Not too many kickers are considered football players but Pat is not one of them.

He's a good tackler as we unfortunately found out with some of special teams play through the years!

In all honesty, Vinatirie can't have many years left. So while not this season, it actually seems reasonable to me to that Pat might get a shot at being the place kicker when Adam decides to retire. It's certainly not the worst option the Colts have in that regard.

Nah my source told me  the coaching staff was going to give him triple duty starting next year, He is going to be our Punter, Our Knewest Interior Linebacker that many of us want as well but the talk is they have been secretly having him practice to be our #1 wr next year.....You heard it here first folks!

Something like that could start a trend or change the game where specialists are expected to both punt and kick FG.

Biggest problem I have is that in the unlikely event of an injury we have no one on our roster who can punt or kick FG and we somehow have to struggle through the game without someone who can do that.  (Typically your PK is your backup punter and vice versa)

Funny you should say that. I have witnessed Pat lining up in the wr spot during training camp before. I ask him about it and he just said he was a jack of all trades and laughed about it. I doubt it was serious but he might be athletic enough to pull it off.  :dunno:

if we get a big lead we should let patty take some snaps at qb. maybe we could try luck at placekicker

Pat has been listed as the emergency QB before. With that in mind I have always took notice in case he ever faked a punt and put the ball in the air or took off running. I am not to sure about the Luck comment though.

  • 2 weeks later...

When did our "punter" start wearing his punters glove?

Not a big McAfee fan here... he is a punter and needs to leave the "all about Pat" distractions behind. I will say he does put the "I" in Team.

Jersey #1 with a horrible television show, punting/kicking glove and skinny jeans?

I agree. Punters should be total robots, no personality, no lives off the field, they don't even need a voice because they should be seen and not heard. The nerve of this guy to choose the number 1 for his jersey... And what's with the glove, right? What a total selfish loser. McAfee should live and breath to punt and kickoff for the Colts, and should do nothing else.

The only scenario I see is it's a must make 60+ yarder, but even then I don't think he has a big enough leg.

The only way I see McAfee ever kicking a field goal in a game, is if it's a free kick after a fair catch.

he has plenty of leg. His accuracy is the unknown

We don't really know. In the video he kicked those kicks without equipement, a bigger start then what a normal kicker does and it seemed like the wind helped him.

There really isn't any proof that he has enough leg.
