Pierce and Patience

That jumping one handed tip to himself was absolutely spectacular!

Also, his TD catch was brilliant!  He made a slight move after the catch, then just kicked on the afterburners.  He has really reached his potential this year and it's awesome to watch.  He was also robbed of his first TD.   There was absolutely ZERO evidence that would overturn the call of a TD.  What a nonsense call.

They should try that bomb once a quarter.

I was thinking the same thing.    Minimum once a quarter.  No reason not too.  We don't have Minshew anymore,  so there's no excuse not to.   It will open up the run too.

Max protect, and AR or Joe can make the throw.

It opens everything up underneath.

Players are never allowed to grow into their roles here because soon as they’re drafted they’re expected to play right away because our GM doesn’t believe in FA.

I am man enough to admit I was wrong about him.  He’s having a break out year.  I will say I haven’t been overly impressed with AD yet and Pierce seems willing to do the things AD isn’t.  Not giving up on AD at all I mean that more as a compliment to Pierce.  It does seem like they are trying to force AD into the offense a little too much rather than leaning on the other three WRs who have been playing well.

Joe was spreading the rock around all day and didn't even look Pierce's way until mid way through the fourth. I was quite annoyed. I'm glad he finally got him the ball!

He was doing the same things last year, but the qb didn’t have the arm to get him the ball. Only a couple of us were saying this last year, most wanted the colts to draft a wr in the 1st round to take his place.

when  most of the forum gm’s want to do something, the best thing is usually go the opposite. Flacco can’t move or throw a long ball any more, add that to the long list.

I saw him open last year as well like some other's mentioned. Made anxious for AR to get on the field to get him the ball.

Same could be said for Cross, always shown flashes, but was waiting for consistency.

Jones is another, that's why I trusted Ballard on the secondary. He was hesitant on Blackmon it seemed.

Glad he's a Colt but Pitt is looking for like part of a peice and not the piece like Franklin.

Watching on Tv, you don't always get to see that someone is beating coverage, but it was pointed out by some on here that attend games, that Alec was repeatedly open deep. Minshew  finally hit em a few times. Glad we have Qbs this year that can take advantage of his speed.

Pitt still makes tough catches, Downs being open most of the time might be why he's not getting the targets he used to.

Pierce led the league in go routes last season and could have been making these plays.

It was pathetic how many here had no clue what they were seeing.

Alec can be our #1 100 catch a year guy. 1300 yd 10+ tds.

I see Steichen trying to keep AD interested calling his # but it's clearly a lower probability of success therefore a detriment to our success.

So glad for AP’s breakout year. Sound like a broken record but if we had given up on Reggie Wayne after 2 years, we wouldn’t know him for who he is now.  :)

3 years is minimum for any player in any position till the flashes become consistent enough, IMO. However our OL draft picks have been good and most of them are good by Year 2, IMO

Yep which is why AR needs to play as well. The more reps, the better the chances of him getting better.

He was so good in college he made Desmond Ridder look like a franchise QB, he was the reason Cinn was unbeaten that season. Good to see him coming into his own.

Exactly... He was always a deep threat with speed! The problem was he had no one to get him the ball. His rookie season came under an old washed Matt Ryan who had no arm strength left. As a matter of fact the one shining moment Alec had that season was when Ryan threw the ball with all of his left might and hit Alec on a bomb in the back of the endzone for a game winner! Sam Ehlinger had no big arm either as backup nor did Gardner Minshew last season.

I remember how many times last year they would show Alec wide open deep on replays but Minshew was a limited qb unable to make that throw. It appeared that Alec's role a year ago was to simply stretch the field so everything could open up midrange for Minshew who by way has been benched already by the Raiders and their top wr Adams wants out because his numbers have dropped majorly with that qb room!!

The reason why Alec has looked so good with AR and now Joe is because they both have the ability to get the ball downfield which utilizes his skillset. Remember how TY looked without Luck? Not saying TY couldn't route run but his calling card was taking the top off and once Luck was gone it was more shallow outs and slants which led to mounting injuries for TY as he took more shots IMO.

Alec will be just fine and his route running will contine to get better. Teams will no longer try to press him off the line because of his "new found" deep threat abilities (lol) combined with the fact that the OVERALL wr group is much better with Downs, Pitt, Dulin and to a degree AD if he starts losing the alligator arms.

this kid is proving me wrong and proving that one has to have patience and let players grow into their roles. I was ready to cut him last season but suddenly, it seems that his route running, his speed and his talents are all coming together finally.

just puts the whole let’s have patience thing into perspective.

keep it up Alec

He got open so many times last year, but the QB (Mostly Minshew) didn't target him. He's the same receiver this year as he was last year, for the most part, which is to say he's good.

    • Will Levis get ready bro! Tyler Huntley.. you're gonna ball out on your last audition before Tua comes back
    • In practice, Matt Ryan probably thought he had another decade in him.
    • It's been that way for decades it seems. I remember Minshew going 21 of 22 against us .... ironically,in Jville
    • Just saw this on Talkin' Colts on Facebook. They need to fire Bradley now and put Ballard on notice. This can't continue. Unacceptable.   Three QBs in a row have had career highs against the Colts. Amazing. We like our guys!    Week 1 Joe Mixon 159 rush yards, most since 2021   Week 2 Josh Jacobs 151 rush yards, most since 2022 (also Malik Willis 86% of passes completed)   Week 3 Caleb Williams 363 pass yards, career high   Week 4 Justin Fields 367 total yards, career high   Week 5 Trevor Lawrence 371 pass yards, career high
