Don’t forget the egregious non-PI call on EJ Speed that would have set the Ravens up to win in regulation.

Yep. The Ravens would have had 1st and 10 at the Colts 45. In which doesn't guarantee they score. Tucker had just missed from 60 yards. However, when we played the Browns, we had the game winning stop and got called for a bogus PI with 30 seconds left. Then again got called for another at the goal line giving the Browns the game. So bringing up a non-call that we got to help us is pretty rich. Most Colts fans don't want to hear that after the REFS gave the game to the Browns.

So this is what I've boiled it down to this week.

Clinching scenarios

If we beat the Raiders:(week 17)

Texans lose to Titans

Bengals lose to Chiefs

Steelers lose to Seahawks

We could lose in week 18 and if Steelers beat the Ravens(might not be playing for anything)we would still clinch.

If Ravens win we would need the following to happen.(again if we lose to Texans)

Bengals to lose to Browns

Or

Week 18:

Browns lose to Bengals

Raiders lose to Broncos

+

Week 17:

Jets lose to Browns

Chargers lose to Broncos

That is the scenarios for clinching WC spot. Not even looking at division here as it is pretty obvious what needs to happen there. So that was the scenario of beating the Raiders and losing to the Texans. Next up, the opposite. See below.

If we lose to Raiders:(week 17)

Chargers lose to Broncos

Bengals lose to Chiefs

Then week 18:

We need to:

beat the Texans

+

Raiders lose to Broncos

Easiest ways to get in at 9-8, there are a lot more scenario get in, but this is what I have calculated.

Kevin Bowen mentioned how that game yesterday by raiders was the raiders superbowl.  Apparently even pierce post game was really emotional. He says they should be emotionally drained after that.

You never know, it's a week to week league this season. We are 3-point favorites in Vegas already, so that bodes well. They haven't missed on too many lately and usually don't. That isn't a rich city for nothing.

Another scenario:

We beat Raiders

Texans beat the Titans

We would need to the following to occur.

Jacksonville win out

Then we need:(week 18)

Beat Texans

Dolphins beat Bills

Last one:

If we beat Raiders and lose to Texans we can get in of the following happens

Week 17:

Bills lose to Patriots

Panthers lose to Jags

Titans lose to Texans

Steelers lose to Seahawks

Bengals lose to Chiefs

Chargers lose to Broncos

Week 18:

Titans lose to Jags

Bills lose to Dolphins

Raiders lose to Broncos

So there is a scenario to beat Raiders and lose to Texans.

Again there are a lot more scenarios that get us in, but these are the easiest paths with all results considered (outside of ties)

Kind of sounds like wishful thinking…

I think this year has proven you can’t predict anything when it comes to all of these bubble teams. We could show up and ball out or end up getting destroyed.

Broncos vs Pats is a prime example most people penciled in a Broncos win.

Can we get in if we lose both? I mean obviously a lot of help would be needed

Pats have been playing better with zappe. Broncos are inconsistent. Pats defense is still very good. I thought broncos would win but the result didn’t surprise me much.

Might be. But there was a lot of stuff said by raiders about hating KC. It is a divisional game.

See if I can clean that all up a little better, looks like a mess.

Clinching scenarios:(Going 1-1, finishing 9-8)

Colts Win vs Raiders:(week 17)

Would Need:

Texans to lose to the Titans

Bengals to lose to the Chiefs

Steelers to lose to the Seahawks

 +

Colts Lose vs Texans:(week 18)

+

Ravens lose to the Steelers/ or Bengals lose to the Browns(either or)(week 18)

Or

**(if Ravens and Bengals win, the following results would clinch the playoff spot from above)(added results from other games in last 2 weeks)

Week 18:

Browns lose to Bengals

Raiders lose to Broncos

+

Week 17:

Jets lose to Browns

Chargers lose to Broncos

That's how we clinch the 7th spot at 9-8, with Colts win vs Raiders and loss to Texans, + Texans lose to Titans.

Colts lose to Raiders:(week 17)

Would need:

Chargers to lose to the Broncos

Texans lose to the Colts:(week 18)

Raiders lose to Broncos(week 18)

Steelers to lose 1 of final 2 games.

Jacksonville win out(week 17+18)

Texans lose to the Colts(week 18)

Bills lose to the Dolphins(week 18)

Week 18:

Titans lose to the Jaguars

Bills lose to the Dolphins

Raiders lose to the Broncos

**So there is multiple scenarios to beat Raiders and lose to Texans. There are more as well but here is (4).

Impossible as we would be 8-9, and Texan would at worst be 9-8.

The more interesting one would be a tie, might look into is with some ties. Lol... maybe.

Week 18:

Jaguars beat the Titans

Broncos beat the Raiders

**This scenario has (3) AFC South Teams in**

**IF Jaguars beat Panthers week 17, they would win division, still (3) South teams in.

One good thing about chiefs and Bengals is bengals defense is not close to the raiders defense. It’s not very good.

Double Kelce and play man, none of KC receivers will get open. That’s what the Raiders did but the Raiders have Maxx

It was still within Tucker’s range and they would’ve gone for it.

The refs bogus call may have sealed the game against the Browns, but we lost because the Browns scored 17 points off Minshew’s four turnovers. The Colts could have won that game even with the refs screwing them if they’d played proper football.

Do you think the coaches came back monday and said: “Welp, nothing to learn here - it was all the refs fault!” Or, did they possibly recognize the Colts made obvious, costly mistakes that ultimately gave the Browns the game?

What I mean is ….maybe they think it’s an easy win for them and they overlook us.

1) I did not need an explanation of what a trap game is.

2) The Raiders have a losing record and just saved their season. They are not good enough to just show up and beat Indy without their best effort.  I don’t buy for a second that they overlook Indy.

This. I wish I could like a post more than once.

As a life long golfer, being an NFL fan is the same thing. When recounting my round, you always lament the perfect drive down the middle that hit a sprinkler head square and bounced OB. Got hosed by the golf gods.

The ball heading into water that bounced off a turtle and landed a foot from the hole?  Just a deserved break.

My point is it all evens out. You get some breaks and some breaks go against you. To me the Colts record is exactly as it should be. A favorable call helped in one game and hurt in another.

The no call on Speed was not nearly as poor as the 2 consecutive bogus PI on the Colts in the Brown's loss. Slow motion showed that Speed hit him a milli-second early but it was a toss-up call watching it in real speed . Nothing like the PI on a ball that  was around 15 feet high and landed in the 4th row .

That’s fine. But why focus on that instead of the OBVIOUS mistakes the Colts made?

If we hadn’t had four turnovers or let them score so many points off of them this would have been a non-issue.

    • I'm all for doubling down and going EDGE in the 1st again. Just got to make sure we get the right one. Depending on where we draft, I'm okay with trading up a couple of picks to snatch the better pass rusher of the bunch. Since there will be a good amount of rushers, I hear, let's go get the better one. I can also see the draft being the opposite as this years. Most teams will go defense now in this draft, and very good offensive players fall. I think we are perfect on offense, that's why I'm okay with trading up to get the guy we need on defense.
    • IMHO , its all about perspective   If you treat Pierce as WR1, you will be disappointed   If you treat Pierce as a solid contributor, you will be pleased   - The man can block, maybe the best blocking WR on this team - The man has speed - The man can rotate in with our other WRs   I do believe that AD Mitchell will take over as a starting outside WR   The reality is, 17 games is a LONG season,    Pittman and AD Mitchell will be "fresher" for the end of the game as they are rotated in and out   The odds say that there will be injuries, and we could see Pierce be a starter on either side   I for one, WANT to keep Pierce thru his rookie deal (We will see after that)
    • Zach Moss is no RB1.  If he showed signs he was the Bills wouldn’t have traded him for Hines who also is no RB1.  Moss is a RB 2.  A good one too.  Fortunately for him a season playing behind the Colts OL worked out favorably for him. Moss became available because we have an RB1 and the Bengals jumped at the chance to fill a hole in their lineup and Moss can do that like he did for the Colts when Taylor wasn’t available.  He is not a back teams have to worry about like they have to do for Taylor.  Every team needs an RB1.  He was the Bills RB1 for a short time and shipped off to the Colts for Hines.  And they drafted him.  He certainly belongs on a NFL roster.  I wish he stayed to back up Taylor.  But money and opportunity always talks as it should.  I worry about our RB position if something happens to Taylor for a long period.  I think we should be looking for a proven player who would be that true backup you can rely on behind Taylor.  Right now that backup position is a position that concerns me.   The other being starting FS.
