At 20, Bears take Alijah Vera-Tucker  USC  6.43    G/T

9:20 - 21. Browns (trade with COLTS) - @RNGDShobby on the clock till 925
9:25 - 22. KC via Tennessee - @danlhart87 on deck

Not a big fan of Vera-Tucker. We'll see on him. I also think the Bears interior is the strength of their O-Line. Curious what the Browns traded up to get.

He's a good flex G/T guy. Bears, per team need sites, need both OT and G, so figured a good and safe pick.

I've never actually seen him play tackle tbh. If so, the pick is good. I thought he was a strictly G player. Good to know!

Played LT in 2020. I think he's got a ton of flexibility. He'll be a starter somewhere on their OL lol.

Patrick Mahomes got absolutely destroyed in the SB and the Chiefs can't stand by and let that happen again.

The Chiefs trade up with the Tennessee Titans to select Samuel Cosmi LT University of Texas

I was guessing you were trading up with me to get an O-Lineman. We'll see if it works out! Nice pick!

There's still several LTs and DEs that I like.

IMO, there are 3 or 4 OTs after Sewell (and maybe Darrisaw) who are all really good prospects, without IMO a whole lot of space between them.

I really think Ballard can afford to wait until 54 (but maybe not 127) to get his guy.

This maybe a cautionary tell for Ballard. If he is targeting one of the top tackles...he probably should not trade back. Pickings get slim from the second round on out.

My athletic favorite Spencer Brown is gonna wear Colts blue next year!!!

Agreed on till 54.

Personally, I would have used the 21 for DE (and not traded back), but there are still plenty of both positions. In the real world, I think DEs will go a bit faster. Maybe not.

With the 24th pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select
Najee Harris: Running Back - Alabama

This is actually very possible IMO. I could see him being a Jerome Bettis type-guy to the Steelers to replace James Connor.

    • I think we are seeing growth from Ballard as a GM, which is what I would think everyone would hope for. He’s gone after free agents (even though they didn’t come here), he drafted a qb, put offers to move up in the 1st, and now drafted an edge that is actually productive instead of off upside. Hope it continues.
    • My bad, you’re right.  I don’t know who stats I was looking at last night lol.  Hennessy will do that. ;(   Well, Trey production might’ve been due to him being in a rotation over there in NO before he got to Cincy, with him being a third rounder.  But either way, Trey turned it on year 4.  So you’re right, I’ll give qwitty one more year.  Not saying qwitty is bad, but we do need more from that position.  And it seems Ballard and co agrees as this is his second attempt at trying to upgrade that position this off-season.   I agree with the pick, we can’t wait and hope for something when we have an opportunity to possibly upgrade at a premium position and one of the highest paying positions.  Due to the way the draft played out, We had the opportunity to pick the FIRST defensive player off the board, which also mean probably the BEST defensive player on the board (depending on how whoever looks at it).  We don’t know when we’ll have that opportunity if ever again.
    • Well said. For me the injury concern isn't the "right now" as much as it is "will it effect his longevity?" Unless I am forgetting someone, Manning is the only recollection I have of a similar sitch....Different position/age/etc. but he held up for like 3 or so years, before his skills diminished beyond effective......again I understand the differences but I don't think its known what the expectations are for any individual long term.....I hope its for a good long time.....but it does concern me, mostly because its not an injury procedure that has a lot of examples to draw from in terms of how it plays out long term.
    • Context is king. Thank you for sharing that. I'll look up some more information on his situation, or at least I will if my dang eye every slows down on swelling!
