RockThatBlue
Not that Brackett was horrible. But both undersizedBrackett was inconsistent just like Freeman isBoth decent in coverage (though nothing to brag about)Both were usually horrible against good/big running backs Its like watching Gary Brackett out there. This team needs a tough, rough and big MLB.

Clem-Dog
Brackett was much better than Freeman will ever be. For one Freeman is a far inferior leader.

Dustin
Freeman was a nice player you have in year one of a rebuild and a good backup level player later on. He's not a player you build a defense around.
lollygagger8
I'm actually a fan of Freeman, but who the heck gets juked out of their shoes by Tom freakin Brady running at them?

grmasterb
Even worse was Freeman allowing Edelman to catch an underthrown ball from Brady.

lollygagger8
He juked Ray Lewis before and Urlacher Maybe back when Brady could actually run faster than a 7 second 40 time. Ray was probably pointing a gun at him anyways.
Horse Shoe Heaven
This is a stupid topic one both were good, the only truth is both were undersized. THATS IT! The reel truth is both were good!! ALL this after Freeman played like a man posed last week against Denver. Really aren't we better than This!!

a06cc
Brackett was better in coverage. Not going to lie there. We hardly got killed by TE's like we do now.

He's not a player you build a defense around. I'm inclined to agree with this somewhat. I'd be happy if we can find someone similar to CJ Mosley in the draft.I wish we had two ILB with skills similar to Kuechly and Thomas Davis. Guys who cover a lot of ground, but arealso great tacklers defending the run.

throwing BBZ
It is a lousy scheme to play DQ and Freeman 6-7 yards back in a plain/obvious 4-2 unless it is 3 and 7+. Unless you are playing Jax, Tn. or teams with bum QB`s, etc.We did it all the time. In yr 3, how is our ILB development coming along?
chad72
Brackett was better in coverage. Not going to lie there. We hardly got killed by TE's like we do now. True dat. Instead of getting exposed in a 3-4 with 2 undersized ILBs, why not play a 4-3 and make the good run stopper with lesser coverage abilities the ILB with 2 good coverage OLBs. A good safety can make up for 1 of that kind of ILB but having to make up for 2 ILBs with lesser coverage abilities is harder on the safeties, IMO. Plus, if a team spreads you out and forces the ILBs to play a few yards away due to the fear factor of being beat, it leaves you susceptible to both the pass and run, IMO.
