So, if none of them showed they would be fine if Reggie went down or doesn't return to form, then he must not have faith that they can develop or or does not have faith the coaches can develop them.

Is he supposed to have that much faith in a 6th round pick and 2 undrafted guys?

Well, think about that for a second.  The only way to become a "proven" player is you know, to play.  He (Grigson) has two proven 1000 yard receivers on the team so there is a chance there for other guys to get playing time to become "proven" in a very good situation.  Adding Nicks would mean he doesn't not believe the players he has picked are capable of that or that the coaches he has picked are capable of developing them.  I just wonder which it is.

It probably means that Nicks as a proven player is a lot better than the ceiling of someone like LaVon Brazill. There is nothing wrong with making a signing that makes your team better. You can have Nicks, who has made the Pro Bowl and been a solid #1WR when he has been healthy or hasn't had a QB who threw 30 INT's in a season or LaVon Brazill who has 23 Rec's in his career. Who do you want?

No, it means that he's not going to put all his eggs in their baskets without some sort of contingency plan. Nicks is the contingency plan.

he may want to play on a team with a top defense.

Being a #2 on a pass heavy team in a weak conference is better for his potential future earnings then being a #1 on a run-first team playing against some of the best defenses in the NFL.

That's not true in our favor right?

Right.  The Colts could offer Mack a 5 year $5 million contract and if he accepted it then the Browns would have a chance to match, if they did not match it, then the Colts would sign Mack for that contract.  Now, the likely hood of that happening is next to nill.  But the Colts(or any team) could do a 5 years, 40 million contract with $15 million guaranteed in 2014 and 10 million guaranteed in 2015, still be less than $10 mill per year but it would be more beneficial for Mack than a one year contract guaranteed at $10 mil+

Says who? The O-Line has gotten significantly better already due to the fact that Satele and McGlynn won't be starting.

And our starters on the interior line next year, if nothing else is done will be a decent guard coming off a serious, season-ending injury, a 2nd year player coming off a rough rookie season and a center who is essentially a rookie who inspired so little faith last year that his coaches opted to slide a journeyman G/C over to start in place of Satele when he was hurt, rather than give him developmental playing time in Satele's absence... I feel REAL secure about that going into next season. How about you?

Do you really, I mean really believe this will be the case? I'm sure Grigson values his job better than you give him credit for.

    • Smith has been having a hard time staying healthy the last few years and he's due 19 mil next season with no dead cap to cut him.
    • Well they replaced Strausser with Sparano which solved a problem.
    • I disagree about Smith.  He’s an absolute road grader as a run blocker. He’s graded as one of the best in that category.  His pass blocking was around 71 last year. Considering the need for knee surgery that’s pretty good considering the DE’s they went up against last year.    Fries was solid last year. He plays with a mean streak and through the whistle. Fries was better last year than Glowinski was as a Colt in my opinion. I don’t see any reason Fries wouldn’t continue to improve. He’s an ascending player.    I hope the Colts hit on drafting Kelly’s replacement.  It was good that he had a bounce back year after 2+ sub par years. However, they can’t pay everyone and having a center with a $14 million cap hit is too much.    You can’t pay everyone. It seems like the Colts have a plan in place to replace Kelly and/or Fries after this season but I expect the Colts oline to be even more consistent this year with a healthy Smith and a QB who is willing to stay in a clean  pocket.  I also feel like the depth is there to handle injuries.
    • One correction here.  The NFL has loosened the restrictions on veterans.  Six of the players have zero restrictions on how many NFL games a player has accrued.
    • Nice house in good neighborhood for 200k.  Not where I live!   I agree that many people are under paid.  And @RollerColt is a prime example.   I thought about becoming a school teacher when I retired from the military but it just didn't make finacial sense.  I really appreciate what you do.
