Sorry thought I was NFL general when I posted this. It does tie to the Colts. It leaves the eagles as the only team without a coach that was interested in Arians.

And I think the Eagles just canceled a visit with Arians in the last day or so....   unless I'm misremembering...   which is always possible.    But, that's what I thought I'd read on-line and here on Colts.com....

Welcome back,  Bruce Arians!        :worthy:

It's been delayed but the Eagles are struggling to fill the poistion so I wouldn't rule Bruce out completely just yet.  There is also a small chance that the Cardinals or Jags might get interested in him but I would say the odds have shifted significantly towards Bruce being back in Indianapolis next year.

If we do keep him I think the Colts can look back to what they did last year as part of the reason.  The Colts took a chance and hired Chuck Pagano who had only been a coordinator for one year.  If you look around the league teams seem to be kinda copying what the Colts did and hiring younger coaches without as much coordinating experience rather than hiring a lifer like Arians.  The NFL is a copy cat league and Pagano was the only new coach to get his team in the playoffs this past year so I think some teams in the league are looking at what the Colts did.

Mhhm I pretty much called that he was going to stay from the start, like him but he is hard headed when it comes to calling plays that help Luck out behind our O Line and that utilizes his mobility (roll outs with Luck would be nice). refuses to aknowledge Lucks strengths in that area. Lets see what he can do if we get some NFL caliber starters on the O Line

That's why its paramount we obtain a stacked o-line!I think the biggest concern is that BA play calling takes way to long to develope down field,so without an o-line luck will take too many brutal shots. This is why i think woodhead/edelman can be used as a checkdown option.

Arians did have some some built in underneath routes in his system, not alot but he had some, Luck also held onto the ball sometimes to long, but the O Line and OLB should be priority number 1 followed by Corner in my opinion

I don't want to deviate too far from your thread, but what is your opinion of s.satele?I think this was grigs biggest mistake thus far.I think we should just release him and eat the cap hit.The guy is horrible, and lacks' chemistry with luck. They keep pluging him in there, even though shipley is clearly better.t was a mistake to start SS agains't the ravens.

Satele was brought in because he was in a Man Blocking scheme over in Oakland prior to coming here Im sure thats why, He plays off balance at the snap and gets caught leaning forward making it easy for a D Lineman to just make a swim move and blow right by him, He is also not nearly as big as I thought and does not have the strength I thought either, long story short, if healthy I think a suitable Back Up but not a starter, looked awful in Oakland at times to having the same problems, I went back and watched a few games from last year, I have NFL Rewind. He can get to the 2nd level to block Linebackers however, also some debate about if his head bob before he snaps the ball tips teams off I think

Just because Arizona asked for permission doesn't mean BA will actually accept an invitation to speak to them, right?  He made it clear he would leave Indy for a HC job if the situation were right.  I can't imagine being the HC of the Cardinals is the right situation given the ownership there versus what he can accomplish here with Andrew Luck and the Colts.  I'd be surprised if he's not on our sideline this next season.

I read that Arians cancelled on Philly. Who wants to join that fiasco?

Also, why would Arians leave Luck for Skelton/Kolb?

He wants to be a head coach. I don't think the Arizona job is all that bad, but they do need a quarterback. But still, if he agrees to interview and they offer him the job, I don't think he'd turn it down in the name of staying with Luck.

    • I like Kwity, but $13m is too much for what he brings in my opinion. From my understanding he's been working on his pass rush this offseason. Ballard has said he needs to improve in that area. I'd like to see him actually improve before the Colts give him more money. If he does, give him a contract that reflects that. If he doesn't, give him a contract that reflects that.
    • I agree.  I don't think they'll do it.  It leaves them greater options.  They can still sign him to an extension before the season is out.  They can let him test free agency.  Or they can walk away from him, depending on how things work with Latu.  Or keep him if Tyquan or Dayo get injured (again).  It's just more options.  I don't think they'll do it today.
    • The only problem with that approach is going into FA his price will be higher.   Extend him now for cheaper
    • Im not certain if there will even be any room for Pierce bc the 4th and 5th receivers need to have special teams ability. I think AD will show enough to gain the Colts confidence. You know Dulin will be there. So from there you're competing with Gould and whoever else. You know Gould plays special teams.  Going to be interesting what they have in mind.
    • Latu's addition also tells me that Gus is not doggedly adhering to his historical "Cover-3 Leo" defense.  Latu is not a Leo.  He's not the undersized wide-9 OLB type playing in a 4-3.  He's a bona fide 4-3 DE.  I'm expecting Gus to even further move away from his historical base defense.  (I never believed that he was going to cling to it come h3ll or high water.  That his coverages last year were simplified perforce, due to the inexperience of the guys he had on the field.)  I'm excited to see what we look like defensively with the new guys inserted.
