  1. 1. Why Was Foster taping the Chuckstrong Banner?

    • Out of Respect to Chuck.
    • Mocking the Colts TD Celebrations.

Anybody who thought he did that to mock Chuck in anyway should reexamine the way they look at people in general.

How can you even say that after all the childish things we've seen in the NFL?

I don't think he did it to mock, but we've all seen players do things in the heat of the moment that they regretted later.

Why don't you read the post where I explained why I did the poll and you'll see that some people really did think that.  Clearly it's a minority and I disagreed with them as like I said Foster has been nothing but class but I was just curious to see if anyone else took it the way my friend did.  After all isn't that the point of a forum to get others opinions on subjects?

Yes, it is the point of the forum.  I guess I just don't like to indulge the ignorant.  I remember a long time ago someone going on a rant about Mathis flashing gang signs after a sack.  People had to explain to him that he was just signing his frat.  You'd think he'd at least ask before going off on him.

I guess the poll is interesting to see how many people don't take the time to learn about a player before they put him down.  Foster gets a lot of respect from other players in the league.  That says quite a lot.

Because Arian is not a childish player who does stupid things in the heat of the moment, especially if he is playing in the opponent's home.

Ah I didn't realize you knew him on such a personal level.  I will defer to your greater knowledge of Arian Foster, man, player, humanitarian.

I don't have to know him personally to know that he is no buffoon. He hasn't done anything since he started for the first time the last few games of his rookie season due to the starter's injury that says bad guy or stupid player. Your own fans are saying the same thing. This man respects every other human being, you should listen to him talk and read about him. Give you something interesting to do.

I have to be honest, the first time I saw it live I was literally on the fence. I turned to my fiancé and asked her what she thought. Initially, we could not decide. It was not until we began discussing it that we came to the same conclusion that it was a classy gesture. Don't get me wrong, Foster appears to be the complete class act. There was just something about doing it after a Texans score that felt a bit disrespectful. The more and more I watched it, however, I decided that it really did feel genuine and sincere. Part of me though still feels that the best time to pay respects is not when you score on the person you are trying to pay respect to. Its like one of those "it's not what your saying but how your saying it" kind of moments. Given the significance of Paganos return, it felt like a bit of a slap in the face at the time. With all that being said, I really appreciate Foster attempting to pay tribute in some way. All in all, the Texans are run as a pretty classy organization. Heck, if it were the Titans Bud Adams probably would have flipped Pagano off haha.

right and that's how I took it but I was curious to see if more people took it like me or my friend. I am glad to see most took it like me.

You are acting like I attacked his character.  Never said that, never implied that.

I implied that we shouldn't be surprised if any player did something as tasteless as mocking the Chuckstrong movement.

I also said I believe he did it with the best intentions and because I am not Arian Foster, I think it is fair to question motive.  Again I think classy move.  But let's not belittle those who don't share our opinion.

If I came across as snarky it was in response to your humanatarian sarcasm. I never said you thought he was bad or not, but to assume the worst of a player with his reputation is questionable. Again, not saying you are, I'm just contributing to the overall argument.

Fair enough,  I think we both are generally saying the same thing.   It's not like he mooned the sign a la Randy Moss.  Like others have said it was just a little disconcerting after the score.  And I don't think anyone in this discussion is assuming the worst.  It just a discussion about the motive and broader themes of player celebrations and motives.

My reply wasn't intended as an attack, but like you said it was sarcastic.  I feel a little sarcasm has its place in lively debates and have enjoyed this discussion.

When it comes down to Foster... he is perceived as  a class act and should be treated as such until proven otherwise. I think everyone would agree to that.

Yes sir, agree with everything you said! We need more discussions like this across the board.  :D

Of the many acts of idiocy I've seem athletes commit, I have never seen one mock someone that just recovered from a life threatening battle with cancer.  I wouldn't be surprised if I were wrong, but to go there based on what Foster did is taking skepticism and the fact that he scored a TD on us a bit too far.

I'm not sure I follow you.

I think having a discussion/poll about it on a fan board is fair though... that is what I'm defending.  Not that I think he mocked us.

If it's Colts related it, I think we should be allowed to discuss it.

Yeah we leave that to the Pats.
LOL, yea, i didn't see that either. Didn't Keyshawn or somebody once pull out a pre-planted camera from the goal post and take a picture? That's the closest I've seen to someone "taping". Now tapping we will leave to Happy Gilmore, "Just tap it in, just tap it in!!".

I was at the game and felt it was purely done out of respect of Pagano.  A couple behind me were not of that opinion and felt he was mocking us.  We have all been sitting in these seats since LOS opened and I turned and stated that I didn't feel that way at all.  At the end of the game Foster went up to Pagano and hugged him and exchanged words with him and our seat mates behind stated that purhaps thay had been wrong after all.

    • How bout this? Draft better and u build a play off caliber team. Ain't rocket science.
    • Look im not gonna say Ballard haven't had his own issues, but the guy has been put in an impossible position particularly every year.   2017 - He has a lame duck for a head coach when we all knew was gonna get fired and was drafting for his scheme so I'll give him a pass.   2018 - Arguably his best draft getting two All-pros and a stalwart at RT. He gets to sign his choice of a head coach and is left at the alter at the 11th hour which in hindsight was a blessing in disguise. Drafted Tyquan Lewis, Hines, and Franklin who all have or had great years here. Andrew Luck was back and playing like an MVP.   2019 - Horrible draft. No excuses. It was his worst draft as a GM, but he did find a gem in Speed. Luck retiring a week before the season starts would put any GM in a tough spot so once again I'll give him a pass.   2020 - His second best draft getting Pittman, Taylor, and Blackmon. Signed Rivers and traded for Buckner and won 11 games. Unfortunately lost to the Bills in the playoffs.   2021 - I honestly can't tell for certain what happened in terms of QB. Ive heard Rivers was supposed to re-sign, but choice to retire. I've heard he was pushed to retirement as the colts wanted to go in a different direction. I heard Reich pushed hard for Wentz saying he can fix him against the wishes of Ballard. Whatever it was, Wentz was the guy and the QB carousal was supposedly stopped at least we thought. A god-like season for Taylor was not enough to save Wentz from ultimately being traded and you can chalk that one on whomever Reich or Ballard depending on what story you want to believe. In terms of the draft, Paye and Dayo have been reliable players on the dline, Granson you can make an argument is our best TE, and Fries came into his own last year.   2022 - Just an overall disaster of a season. Went the bandage route again at QB trading for Matt Ryan and you can say the colts did him no favors in terms of oline protection and JT getting hurt, but that was a failed trade for a miserable season. 2022 draft is still under elevation, but Pierce and Woods did show potential as rookies and Raimann looks to be the LT of the future.   2023 - Ballard finally gets to draft a QB to tether him to and Richardson plays a grand total of 12 quarters. It just seems like Ballard can not catch a break when it comes to QBs, but from I've seen from Richardson, I have very high expectations.
    • Hi Colts fans,   Yeah, I know, I know.  I was just as surprised as you were.  No clue why my good friend Jim Irsay would call me up and offer me the head coaching job.  I had to remind him.  Dude, I said, you do know that I've never coached at all at the NFL level.  Not coordinator.  Not even position coach.  Nothing.  It didn't seem to matter.  It was as if all that was required was for me to be good friends with the owner, and -- bazinga! -- I could be a head coach.   It was awkward, you know.  That first coaches meeting.  There was Gus Bradley.  And there was John Fox.  Both of them had been head coaches.  Heck, both of them had coached in a Super Bowl!  Yet here I was, promoted to be their boss, having never coached before.  Ever.   But, you know, Bud Grant did it.  So, why not?  Remember, I have a way of doing things.   Ok, sorry, I couldn't help but giggle.  I have a way of doing... what, exactly?  Things?  Things like coaching?  I have a way of coaching?  And how did I develop that way?  By actually, you know, coaching?   Anyway, I'm glad you have a new head coach.  One who has actually coached before.  And his experience doing that is bearing fruit.  I'm just glad I'm already in the Ring of Honor.  Because after what happened, I doubt that I would ever be accepted in by the fans, regardless of how I was as a player.  Heck, they would have put Andrew Luck in before they would even consider me.   In the meantime, I'm back at ESPN, attempting to "un-burn" bridges.  It can happen.  I heard Bud Grant did that once....   Regards, Jeff Saturday
    • We certainly have options as both DB draftees started at FS as well as CB in college. Perhaps Thomas ‘could’ revert back to CB as well?
    • Here's to hoping Colts hit the jackpot and everyone looks back saying wow he was definitely the best wr in that draft...
