Drafts busts of the 2012 class

Recommended Posts

Blackman got over 200 yards receiving in one game a week or two ago. If he has a good QB and a decent offense around him he's fine. Not sure if he's a #1, but he's a good receiver.

Did someone really say Fugger? Without an emoticon? Please tell me that's someone's idea of a joke that I just don't get.

WR's are often unspectacular in their first year. It's in part why I don't want to use a 1st round pick on one in 2013.

Kirkpatrick has been hurt most of the year.

You guys are a funny bunch sometimes...... Just sayin....

I don't agree with Blackmon...maybe before Gabbert got hurt, but since Henne's been starting he's been showing the guy some love...

Coples was considered a risky pick...a stupid pick because he's a head case

Shea McClellan...but hes on a D full of studs so that's not completely fair

Dontari Poe definitely....and to think i was a fan...def just a workout warrior

AJ Jenkins was a strange pick for the first round

David Wilson was too

why was david wilson a strange first round pick? tons of talent, but in the giant dog house as of now.

Poe should be the poster boy for bust. All of the numbers and none of the heart. When will people learn?

Weeden is better than Colt McCoy (major bust).

Blackmon needs to go to a real team. He will be good.

poe should be the poster boy for reaching in the draft

Thats a lot of HOFers for one d

busts

Aj jenkins

Dontari Poe

Gilmore from the bills

Devon still

coples

mercilius

hall of famers

Luck

RG3

Tannehill

Russell wilson

Trent Richardson

Matt Kalil

Doug Martin

Morris clairborne

Thats a lot of HOFers for one draft.

I actually think Poe will be a good player down the road. He just needs a better coaching staff.

My bust

AJ Jenkins

Lamichael James - 49ers first 2 picks were pretty shocking and bad.

Brandon Weeden - too old to really develop and has little time to learn.

Morris Claiborne

I don't really know about Lamichael James. I mean the guy hasn't even played yet..lol. Brandon Weeden is actually pretty good considering the talent at WR in Cleveland. He has exceeded my expectations. And we have to give Mo Claiborne a chance to really develop in that position. I think he will get better with time.

Lol didnt see hall of famers at first

it been a pretty great class for qb up there with the elway, marino and kelly draft class , tannehill is exceeding expecttation by a long shot plays well against elite defenses, luck clutchness is manningesque, rg3 is every redskins fan wanted great young exhilrating talent, wilson is proving the doubters wrong about his play related with his height leads rookies in tds passes. matt kahlil is a top 10 lt in first year , probowl form. trent richardson is imo be great , and the mucle hamster is the next ray rice who make the hall as well.

That is simply false about Poe. Poe has the 11th best run stop percentage as a defensive lineman according to Football Outsiders so he is far from a bust https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2012/11/29/sig-stats-snapshot-run-stop-percentage-dts/

    • not for 87 and it would be cool if reggie asked him to.  i don't want anyone in 88 again.
    • yeah, Ballard definitely needs to compensate inactivity in other fronts with excellent drafting. And not just excellend drafting but rather - overall good draft philosophy. The trade backs IMO are key feature here. Because he doesn't rely on FA, he needs more shots in the draft. If he has 2-3 more picks in the draft every year, that's one or two more cheap hits every year that contribute to your team that other teams don't have. At least that's the idea I would presume. And I think Ballard has done relatively good job with the draft. Every year I feel better about the team right after the draft.    Yeah... unfortunately the QB position is key deciding factor not just on the field but about GM's work in general too. You don't get to make too many QB mistakes as a GM.  Yeah, from what I remember he had offers to be a scout for teams a few years ago but he had a young family so he decided to stay home with them and instead continue his work in media. That's why I was wondering before - just how high of a position would it take for him to actually take a job in the NFL. He definitely won't take a scouting job it seems. He's probably getting paid more by the Athletic and his other media work than he would make as a scout and he wouldn't be travelling all the time for work. So where is the threshold you think? For example, would he take a FO job with path to being a GM in the future? Would you give him VP of player personnel or director of college scouting or something of the sort? Would he take that?    On a side note - what is your opinion of Solak? I feel like he does good job and generally knows what he's talking about too. But he's definitely more talking head-y and is less measured and humble than the Cosells and Bruglers of the world, but in general... I kind of don't mind it too much... I view it more as a question of style and I listen to his podcasts and read his articles too because I feel like he too does the work and I don't mind having his perspective even if a lot of his takes are not as disapassionate as Brugler's for example.  Absolutely agreed
    • The first video I came across on Bortolini showed him pulling.   And even at 303 he runs like a guy who weighs 50 pounds lighter.      So given Steichen worked with Jason Kelcie who played at 290-295,  I think it’s possible, perhaps even probable, that Steichen might prefer a smaller more mobile OC that might work better in the offense he would like to run.  I’m very much in the camp that Bertolini is Kelly’s future replacement.
    • Would anybody be upset if Mitchell wore 87 or 88?
    • Ballard is one of the best scouts in the biz, has been for over a long time.
