Two WR's that make sense

Brandon Coleman at 6-6 and 225 can go up and get it and 3 solid years with the Saints.....25 years old

 

Jordan Matthews at 6-3 and 225 who actually played in the slot too with 3 solid years in Philly beforeva "meh" year in Buffalo last year......25 years old

 

Young, could be had on cheap 3 year deals and provide solid production ESPECIALLY considering who will be throwing to them!

I am also hoping for Cody Latimer.

 

Hasn't gotten a huge chance in Denver, but he has progressed and he would likely come cheap.

 

Still only 25 and he is 6'2" 215 and has contributed on special teams in the past too.

No and No... they both are horrible and definitely not worth the money. 

 

Brice Butler makes the most sense and could be a steal

2 other under the radar possibilities are - Brice Butler & Jaron Brown.

At this point you just need options....they need at least 3 more WR to go with Hilton and Rogers and will probably get at most 1 guy in the draft.

Brandon. Coleman is not horrible. I can tell you just googled his name and looked at his stats

 

he was the numnber 3 wr. He has great size and like the OP said, he can go up and get the ball. Great red zone target and isn’t afraid to set a block. He would be a good 3 with potential to move to the 2 if he’s given the opportunity. Ballard type of player,

Coleman is limited athletically. He’s just a tall guy. Nothing special as a wr. 

 

Agree i I would rather add Latimer or Pryor.

Except that both of the guys I mentioned are younger and have had better production - insinuating that Brice Butler is better and saying the other two are horrible when film and stats don't bear that opinion out.....well that's why we all have opinions.

Are you even aware that Matthews caught 225 passes his first three years?

 

That's 75 per year.   What part of that is terrible?

 

I like Butler...   for WR3...   that's what he did for Dallas.    I don't think he's shown he can be WR2.

 

Same with Latimore.   But for WR3, what he did for Denver.

Two solid finds. We need to find some receivers for Luck.  My 1st,. choice is Matthews.

If he isn't terrible then why did the saints dump him and want a 32 year old, shell of Jordy Nelson? This of course before Jordy signed with the raiders.  And why didn't saints keep him Especially considering the Saints tendered Snead on a low tender. seems to me Coleman would be a keeper in this situation. However,  Coleman sucks

Pryor could be a huge asset for us.  6'-4" and fast and has a 1,000 yard season under his belt.  With Luck throwing him the ball, there is no reason to think he couldn't have a very solid year for us!

I don't think Matthews is terrible...but I do think his numbers were a bit inflated due to volume. He played in uptempo offenses that ran a ton of plays. And outside of 2014 (when Maclin was in PHI)...he was the WR1 because they had no one else. 

 

He also had several crucial drops while in PHI...and doesn't have great hands overall. Something that is crucial at the slot WR position.

 

And I don't think we can just totally ignore last season. Though I can't really hold it against him, since he was banged up and had poor QB play on a team that doesn't throw the ball (no BUF WR did anything last year).

 

I still don't see Ballard (and Reich) picking him up, but I wouldn't be completely against it. However, I would not be a fan of giving him one of these big WR deals we keep seeing. A one-year deal to rebuild his value could work...but might not be realistic.

As you noted...  up tempo...  isn't that what Reich says he wants to do?   I think so...

 

Plus we would sign him to be WR2 and not WR1.   I think he can handle that.

 

I'd like to find a quality WR2 with some size and Matthews has it.   I'd like to sign Grant to be WR 3.   He's got very good hands.

 

This will be interesting to watch....

Out of the group mentioned here, I think Cody has the best hands and a better chance to be WR2. I like Rogers as our 3, and don't want to take that from him. Butler, and Grant I beleive would be red zone specialist, or WR4. Don't want Pryor, unless great contract. He drops easy passes. I have no opnion on Mathews but him like Pryor drops easy passes.
