Very.  Brady's star is higher in the sky right now than Jordans ...

MJ never lost a Championship he competed for with the Bulls, but to be fair to Tommy, a 4-2 win/loss record in SBs is pretty darn good & his 2 NY Giants losses came down to a freakish throw in the 4th QTR so I can't really blame Brady for that either since both Giants SBs were so compelling down to the wire.

I have a ton of respect for Tom & Michael & I always will AMF.  :hat: I love the tenacious drive to win everytime they step on a court or a field of play.

I don't remember what year it was, but when MJ won that Finals game with the flu. I was so blown away. Wow! I'm a wuss & a big baby when I get sick & #23 won an NBA game under the hottest spotlight imaginable. Jesus...MJ is clutch to the core with the beating heart of a warrior who capitulates nothing ever.

Mj's flu game was game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals VS Utah.  I am a die hard MJ/Bulls fan.  I agree 100% with everything you said about him.

lol. I was not comparing Brady and Jordan just saying Brady's star power right now is brighter than MJ ...

Thanks for the Dennis Rodman rebound assist to the basket BCF1. Nice!

I firmly believe that if MJ had not gone to play baseball after his dad passed away MJ would have had 7 rings easy. I'm not blaming Michael at all for doing what he did. He just loved his pops & wanted to reconnect with his childhood again remembering good times with his father. Very cool move IMO.

The fact that someone is no longer playing professionslly in no way diminishes his star power.

Jordans star power is undeniably still very much among the greats, and always will be.

*sigh*

Jordan is and always will be one of the greatest to ever play. But right now, Brady's star power is bigger. There really is no denying that.

That's an interesting question AMF because MJ took the game of basketball to a whole new stratosphere of popularity & his Air Jordan shoes still sell like hotcakes today. Jordan to me is like the NBA's trademark symbol of golden royalty. It would be interesting what both men's networths are because I think the NBA has greater global tentacles worldwide than the NFL does.

Is TB immensely popular abroad & an elite QB? Sure he is. More popular than #23 though? Let's not get crazy shall we.  haha I could throw you blindfolded on a plane AMF & dump you off in Thailand & citizens there will automatically know who Jordan is. I can almost guarantee it. But, if I went to Prague with a picture of Tom Brady or Dublin, I'll bet you in Europe I could find people there who have no clue who Tom Brady is or the NE Patriots for that matter.

This is an interesting discussion SW. When I said Brady's star power is greater than MJ, I was just talking about the present moment given Brady just won the SB and was named MVP whereas Jordan's Hornets are 11 games under .500. For as great as Jordan was a player, he has been equally bad as an owner.

Now in terms of recognition, I would argue that Brady is more recognizable worldwide because of his wife. Gisele has given Brady a profile outside of the US and she has helped tremendously with his marketing specifically overseas with his ads for Uggs and Movado. If you look closely look at Brady's ads he is doing commercials about aspiration versus selling a product. He is selling a lifestyle - his lifestyle and the product is part of that. His recent Uggs commercials with his mom and then with his dad are part of this selling of him, it is almost movie-like in the presentation. And that facet I believe comes direction from Gisele and propels him beyond sneaker ads and McDonald's ads like MJ did into a different stratosphere of recognition and makes his presence more ubiquitous on a global level. He transcends being just a football player, it is almost secondary to him the person and his life. That was not the case with MJ.

Yep. That is why this is a forum for opinions ....

Yes, opinions. I agree with that. It is a forum for opinions and discussion.

The problem arises when you state your opinion as fact and think everyone else should agree, just because you say so.

And in case you havn't noticed, people are growing tired of the lovefest you have with Brady. It might serve you better on the Patriot planet. The only thing I can surmise is that you enjoy the confrontations here and you enjoy being argumentative

Jordan had a 46-48" vertical leap.  Brady's 40 time was that of a slow offensive lineman.  It is really kind of embarrassing for them to be playing the sport of basketball together in the first place.  * shooting off the deck of Brady's yacht or talking fashion?  That may be equal footing.

When did I say you should agree? I specifically said it is a forum for opinions.

And I am not sure why but you seem to take issue the most with just about everything I post. And I post on just about every topic here but you seem to swarm to the ones on Brady or the Pats. You can just choose to ignore them or simply not click on Pats related threads if it bothers you that much.

By your definition, Peyton has more star power than Brady.  He is definitely on more tv commercials.  He was so good doing SNL, that they invited him to be in the anniversary show.  I don't see Brady doing anything close.

True. They probably shouldn't play baseball together either given Brady was drafted by the pros and Jordan could not make it out of double AA.

Oh please. Wrong again. I post in several threads that have nothing to do with you. I do not swarm to you, haha. That is hilarious. I called you on something you posted, and now you want to make it personal..

I have seen you do this with several of my favorite posters on here and you have run several off. You're officially on ignore now. Not worth my time.

Popularity & overall legacy as an athlete in a professional sport is an entirely different dynamic though. I liked your post AMF because I hadn't really considered Giselle as part of Brady's influence & marketing power before. But you're right, Tom & Giselle are a package duo deal so her global influence on his career cannot be ignored either. Food for thought & something else for me to mull over & chew on intellectually I guess. Good point.

Look at this clip at the US Open where MJ is being interviewed by tennis analysts last year watching Roger Federer play in front of him. I'd say Jordan's popularity transcends professional basketball very easily myself.

I am too lazy to check, but was that not the time he went for 63?  I know MJ played a hell of a game as sick as he was.

Don't  agree still don't see him making the National endorsements Jordan does , and further more never will. However in some areas and circles your statement may ring true.

I can say one thing here.  This is the second thread to go to hell in a handbag if we do not calm down.

Take this as fact:  Michael Jordan is one of the greatest athletes EVER.

Tom Brady would not even be in the top 10-15.  Give me Jessie Owens, And Jackie Robinson before any Slow Old Pro Style Quarterbacks....I am done.

Life is not about Tom Brady folks...
