Listened to a discussion from Rookie Scouting Portfolio’s Matt Waldman. He did an in depth comparison of Will Levi’s and Anthony Richardson. In short, he thought Levi’s was much more of an NFL project than Richardson. He felt Levi’s is currently over-hyped based on his size and physical traits. He felt Levis’s NFL comparable was Trubisky and Blaine Gabbert. He also thought Richardson sees the field and defensive alignments at a much higher level than Levi’s. Waldman also spoke of Levis’s accuracy issues with wide open receivers. He had Richardson’s comp at Ben Roethlisberger and Steve McNair.  He sees a night and day difference in the NFL projection of these two quarterbacks.

That report is night and day. Levis could be Jamrcus Russell.

Absolutely.

I disagree. Richardson is much more of a project

who is matt waldman what is his back ground ?  is he a nfl scout or a mel kiper type ?    go back and look at his QB rankings in the past and tell me his hit or miss rate .    i dont trust media guys acting like gms    so unless he has a football backround i am not basing my opinion on him

For what it’s worth, Listening to Waldman never got that he was in love with Richardson, but thought he had a brighter NFL future than Levis. He also went on to mention that Many NFL teams are stuck in the past with  an antiquated  evaluation process for the modern NFL. He suggested that Levi’s has some of the same flaws as Tebow, and  Winston. Anyway that was his take.

Hey, just providing a different perspective from a different voice. It beats repeating the same thing over, and over, and over again this forum. He is a Media Guy, who has been producing comprehensive pre-draft reports on only offensive skill positions for the last nine years. Take it for what it is worth - one guy’s perspective among many.

I wonder who the other player listed in trade was

Maybe Kenny.

Just so everyone knows Kaplan is a respected journalist but he might of got that report from a known twitter troll. It’s almost word for word. I just don’t know if his video came out first and that Twitter troll was just posting his info. I will look into it more.

Yes, I get it . There are a lot of these types. I just read awhile back that he has the attention of NFL front offices and he goes into far greater detail than most,

Of course, does not mean he is right either.

U ever watch tape on him? He will be a Ohio bust. He stares down his first read and rarely looks of it.

He's 4th on QBs I want in this draft. It would be terrible if he stayed because the price to trade up for Levis or Young would increase and Bears would want 3 1s etc.

What scares me about this draft is this. We have a GM who probably has 2023 to make a lot of noise or he is gone. That reads of desperation and I fear he may use all of our draft capital to move ip unless Irsay is eyeing  2024 to make the jump for a qb. He may in actuality   has given Ballard 2 drafts to right the wrongs.

The key about Ballard is he will make an offer for 1 probably something like MPJ Moore 23 1st 2023 3rd and 24 1st.

If they want more he will move on and even draft AR15 if others are gone.

Very difficult to give up all those 1's. Just sit at 4 if CJ turns pro or not. No way see Levis at 1.

I’m totally against trading next years 1st rounder but if they have to, maybe they can put some protection on it like NBA trades are structured.  So if the pick is in the top 5 than the trade piece moves to 2025 and then it’s top 10 protected.  So forth and so on.  Too much talent in the 24 draft and we could struggle (hopefully not) next year.

Big day today.  I think if Stroud declares we are trading and moving up.  My guess is the deal is pretty much in place.  If he stays that could change everything.  The price will surely go up.  Not sure Ballard will give up a kings ransom.  Then I can see Ballard trading back and still taking a quarterback and signing a FA veteran quarterback like Carr, if released,  or Jimmy G, Brissett, or someone else.  The fan base will be thrilled when we draft one early.  Knowing he won't be ready to start day one will be understandable for most fans.  So signing a veteran to start won't be viewed as going the retread path.  Just the bridge guy until he proves he's ready to take over.

Which of these options would you choose if you had to pick one?

I think I’d do the Nelson one

All of the other ones the Colts would be giving up insane draft capital.

I dont think the Colts give up much if they move up. I could see a couple of players but not many high picks.

I have no doubt Kenny Moore will be moved especially after his latest interview. Maybe Nelson if someone takes his giant contract but I don’t think Ballard would want to get rid of him after saying it will “always start up front”.

    • I had to start a thread on this that some people may feel is stupid, but it's something that Colts fans go through every year more than most teams it seems. How can you, as a Colts fan, watch week after week, without letting it bother you that so many top players seem to be out every week for us? I couldn't even care to watch last year knowing AR was out most of the year and that Minshew was our QB, yet he wouldn't either be on the team or the starter when AR returned. We had the same issues with Luck a lot, AR is injury prone early in his career, and Taylor is missing time too.    I just can't have fun knowing Taylor is out this week. It hurts as a Colts fan, it hurts as a fantasy player who owns him, it just lowers any level of interest I have when he is the one that is holding this offense together. How is AR supposed to develop when his RB is out like this? All the players that are out seem to be important players like Moore, Paye, Taylor, Ekubam and Brents for the year, and of course whenever we try to run it with AR, he gets hurt.   I just don't see how Colts fans can continuously stay interested when we seem to get the worst injuries to the most important players. Please help me with this. Maybe you guys have a viewpoint that can help me. I'm just so over the injuries that seem to happen to our top players every year, and we don't have a chance to compete or develop anyone. Ruins my fan experience.   Thanks.
    • Just reading through the comment there is a lot of bickering.    Honestly any completely unbiased opinion/viewpoint with an understanding of football would say the sample size is not near big enough to make any fair determination of what AR is. However what we have seen thus far health and play on the field is not good, not good at all. By all metrics the only QB worse is Bryce Young.   There solved it
    • Well, I'm probably not paying attention to the game Sunday with Taylor out. Besides a small start last week from Richardson, Taylor generally has to carry AR in these games in order to sustain drives. Don't see it happening with Goodson/Sermon. Not only that, it's not even fun in bestballs I have Taylor in where he's out because I can't score points with Taylor. It makes us worse in reality, and it makes my teams much worse.   Lose/Lose.
    • Evidently AR could have played in the 2nd half of the Steelers game but Shane decided to stay with Flacco.  It may not be as cut and dried as you suggest.
    • you do have the right to be stupid. don't let anyone tell you different.
