Annual Gavin Memorial Mock Draft GM Game 2018 Opening Thread

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone! It is my pleasure to bring about the return of the Annual Gavin Memorial Mock Draft GM Game! As most of you know, just over a year ago, we lost Gavin, a dear member of this forum. He was loved and cherished by everyone on these boards, and was extremely knowledgeable and well versed in everything Colts! Last year, in honor of him, we held a 4-Round GM Mock Draft Game, and now, to carry on his legacy, it makes a return. Due to circumstances, I will not be able to be the Head Commish, and @chad72, who headed it up last year, is unable to as well, so we will be having an open role at the top for a qualified member to run the game. Of course, I will be on board as an Assistant, and many of the other Assistant Commissioners from last year are welcome to join again or apply for the Head Commish position. If you are interested in being the Head Commish or an Assistant this year, please PM me and we will go on from there! The rules will remain the same as last year, but can be revisited if an outstanding number of participants, or GMs, would like to change any particular rule. To conclude, thank you all for your participation, and thank you Gavin for all the great memories and friendships! Now, without further ado, lets get this underway!! Welcome all to the Second Annual Gavin Memorial Mock Draft GM Game!!!

Thread Bump! As of now, I have 2 Assistant Commishes but nobody to head it! I am hoping to have this all settled soon so that we can begin as early as possible. If I get a Head Commish soon, we will go right into opening up the GM slots for everyone to take a team! Hopefully, this will happen tomorrow, but until we find someone with enough time to take over, this will continue to be put off. Again, please PM me if you have any interest, as every little thing helps! Thank you!

Thank you for doing this. I am unable to be commish, but I would like to participate once again this year.  I would like the Vikings.

Can this thread be pinned so that everyone can easily find it?

Alright! Seeing as we don't have anyone applying for the Head Role yet, we may need to run this draft as a group of Assistant Commishes! To do that, I would need a few more people to apply for a supporting role in this, as there are only currently two! If we can get around 4 or 5 Assistants, I don't believe we would need a Head Commish! Thank you, everyone!

Here is what I have so far for GM's! I am taking the 49ers for this!

Howdy all,  since i lurk here and around the forum through out the day, I decided to volunteer to help everyone out and be the head whipping boy aka commissioner for our little draft.  To keep things simple: We're going to keep last years rules.  Those are posted below.

1. The game will officially start when all 32 teams have GMs. The goal is to have 32 different GMs. If we do not have all 32 GMs by the end of Thursday (3/8), we will let GMs start signing up for second teams with the goal of having all 32 filled by the 15th.

2. There are no trades allowed. You don't have to explain your picks but if you wish to, you may do so.

3. There will be a minimum of 8 picks in a day thus allowing each GM a window of 3 hours to get their pick in to the commish (me, csmopar). There is no maximum if GMs send their picks ahead of time to me or if they are glued to the thread for the draft.

4. Post in here what team you want to, first come, first serve.

5. The one rule change based on suggestions from last years post is a sleep/offline period from 10 pm EST  to 8 am.

List of teams(note this is the same as the draft order for round 1:

  1. (1) Browns - @CR91

    (2) Giants - @crazycolt1

    (3) Colts - @danlhart87

    (4) Browns (Via Hou)- @CR91

    (5) Broncos - @Jared Cisneros

    (6) Jets - @chad72

    (7) Buccaneers - @Finball

    (8) Bears - @BProland85

    *(9) 49ers - @WarGhost21

    *(9) Raiders - @NextGenerationLuck

    (11) Dolphins -

    (12) Bengals - @csmopar

    (13) Redskins -

    (14) Packers -

    (15) Cardinals - @NorthernBlue

    (16) Ravens -

    (17) Chargers -

    (18) Seahawks -

    (19) Cowboys -

    (20) Lions -

Here's a question - isn't it better we start the draft after the big names in FA have been taken off the market? It usually happens in about a week to 10 days after FA starts(this year March 14), so we will have a full month to finish the mock draft.

I'm cool with that and was thinking the same thing.  Which is why I put the day to sign up as the 8th.  FA starts the 14th, so MOST big names SHOULD fall by the 15th, which was the date I had in mind.

edit: I forgot to add that above. Good catch

Their is usually a second Forum Draft just before the draft, one that has been going on for years. We started this second Forum Draft last year in honor of Gavin, and that draft finished earlier than this one. I don't want the two drafts to overlap, so I am hoping to get this one going soon!
