Detectacon
He seems to be a serviceable back according to this article. Anyone have more info on him? http://www.stampedeblue.com/2015/9/29/9419661/colts-sign-shaun-prater-waive-eric-patterson
pgt_rob
He's been with a lot of teams but should provide decent depth.
Valpo2004
Wahoo we have a hawkeye on the team!!! This makes me happy. He was solid in college. I don't know how he's been in the pros. But if Toler and Butler are still out then we could use just about anyone back there.
TheRustonRifle#7
He has been around and like stated earlier should provide adequate veteran depth? I wonder if Indy has any interest in Shareece Wright the disgruntled 49er Corner Back? I am unsure if he is a man to man or zone corner, maybe someone else can enlighten? Bluefire4
Vikings fans seemed to like him. I guess the coaching staff wants more experience on the roster.

krunk
Don't know much about Prater, so I'd have to see him play. Seems he's kind of short though.

Looking at his scouting reports it appears that he is a fit for both coverages? I wasn't speaking in terms of trading for him but if Indy may have interest if he is given the release he is seeking? Solid veteran depth never hurts and with Toler's injury concerns it would be prudent to at least kick the tires if he is released?
Gavin
He is a nickel back but has ability to play both man and zone, Don't have the speed to stick with speedy wr's

I started a thread posing the question about Shareece Wright yesterday. Let's say the thread lasted about as long as Jamarcus Russell's career. Jackie Daytona
They are at least looking for help.....read somewhere that they had 8 players try out, including Prater..... only interesting name on the list was Kevin White, DB.....obviously they wanted Prater more than White though, maybe experience swayed the decision there. Coffeedrinker
This is the kind of stuff that I don't understand from this front office. Prater is really bad. So why sign him? if he is better than Patterson, the difference is so minuscule as to not be noticeable. And if there is a difference it will be negated by the fact that Prater is not going to know the defense.

TKnight24
Really gotta hurry up & get healthy on that back end. The schedule picks up shortly. 2 more "easier" games against the division then Peyton & Brady start popping up on the list
azcolt
I recall he was one of Iowa's stars on defense for whatever that's worth -- and apparently it hasn't been worth much so far in his pro career.

Just because he was successful before doesn't mean he'll be now. There's a reason he was released and has been inactive all of this season. And a move similar to this brought the Colts Josh Thomas who was huge in the win Sunday (that's not to say Prater will be the same and/or Thomas will continue at that level). He led the league in pass interference last year and only played average to below average. Got signed by the 49ers and has been inactive the first three weeks.. I don't know I just don't want him. That's why we signed him. There arn't talented CB's who are free agents left on the market. So at this point they are just looking for warm bodies. And he had one of the lowest scores I have ever seen. He could be great, I guess I just feel sorry for Patterson.

If they don't think the guys at the bottom of the roster are good enough to play then why are they on the roster?
