Colts fans, rest easy, championships are never won in March

I understand when free agents like Talib, T.J.Ward, and possibly Jared Allen/DeMarcus Ware may go to the Broncos but let it not faze us. But over the years, we have seen it over and over and over again. Championships are never won in March :).

Our team is solid enough with our signings and re-signings, that with the right breaks and home field, we can make it to the SB and win it.

Lets take care of our business. Our home game vs the Pats could be for HFA in the AFC given the Broncos' NFC West schedule, lets control what we can and let the chips fall where they may.

I love our approach this year and last - I think the Colts striking the right balance between winning now and building a sustainable core.  It's what is right for where we are.  I also love what the Bronchos are doing and it's right for where they are.  You might as well push all the money you can forward to the year Peyton retires and then cut and rebuild like we did in 2012.  Of course, they might be drafting Eric Fisher not Andrew Luck when the time comes.

Hardly. Denver will have Big $$$ coming back from Mannings Ridiculous salary and they aren`t Pushing Forward/redoing contracts of average players/Specialists to create Cap Space. Elway signs Top Talent.

If Elway doesn`t Lose It like our GM did in his drafting, their outcome should be much different.

I do agree our Roster is now shaped very nicely. I am Excited with the D-Line. Should be the best in INDY Colts history.

We will be solid throughout the lineups, with good depth, and we have several developemental players that are being readied to earn playing time in seasons to come.

Grigson and Team had a Plan and it has worked out.

With Satele, Heyward-Bey and McGlynn having no chance of seeing the field, they can't help but be better, but they would need quite a few breaks IMO to win the Super Bowl.  It's the same story of the past 16 years:  The QB makes them a playoff team, but I'm not sure they're a true contender.  The roster, outside the QB, doesn't compare to that of many of the other playoff teams.  Two 11-5s was probably ahead of schedule for this team.

No question, the Colts are ahead of schedule given the overall talent on the roster.  Grigson's misses with last year's draft hurts.  We just don't have the depth along the Line as some other teams.  I think that the FA signings allowed the Colts to "hold serve" so far.  Where is the help for the OL?  Grigson is going to have to depend upon the draft and players like Thomas returning from injury.

The only thing to say in argument to this post... USUALLY, the "free agency winner" is NOT a team that was in the Super Bowl the previous season...and is usually NOT a team with the best QB to ever play the game...and is also usually NOT a team with a record setting offense, who is "winning free agency" with all top DEFENSIVE players...and also usually is NOT a team getting back arguably the best OLB in the NFL, along with several other players who didn't play most/all of last season...including one of the top 3 LTs in the game, on their O-Line... so while USUALLY things aren't won in March, Denver sure is looking to be a much better team than they were last year, which is scary for the rest of the NFL, if they all stay healthy.

Grigson should have tried to get Golden Tate, would have been a good receiver and returner for us, but he didn't do anything, and Detroit got him for a reasonable 31 million over 5 years something we could have easily afforded to pay.

I like Tate, but 6m per is pretty steep if you ask me

    • I almost spit my coffee out reading this a few times, lol!  I love sarcasm and I especially love it when there is some truth to it!  Well played Sir!
    • I guess the whole question is the merits of the report. You report on his diabetes with tons of guesses and speculations and WITHOUT taking the side of the person who's been affected here and who's living and dealing with that condition. You report on the player being uncoachable WITHOUT taking the opinion of his coaches about being coachable or not(and BTW from what I've heard both from Colts and Texas coaches, this is resoundingly NOT TRUE). You report about him being immature and honestly, everything I've seen on the surface suggests the opposite. You report about his combine performance by giving it a pretty harsh reading(the video is in this thread and the account of what happened by McGinn is in this thread... People can actually go and look at what happened and make their own mind about whether the characterization of that workout was fair or not. I will just say you can represent the player stumbling in a drill and going again in various different ways and McGinn chose a specific way to represent it. It was the most negative way you could choose).    You know I had my own reservations about that outburst by Ballard at the presser, but the more I'm learning about Mitchell the more I actually believe in what Ballard was saying and the less merit those reports have in my mind. Maybe I have my own unconscious biases too, now that I have vested interest in Mitchell actually being good for us. I don't know     I guess ultimately none of it matters. AD's success or failure won't depend on some pre-draft reports... it will depend on how he handles himself from now on, how hard he works, his drive to be great and our staff's ability to get the best of him.
    • if he is healthy and they make the playoffs in spite of, say, Houston being the 1 or 2 seed in a loaded afc, you think Irsay would contemplate firing him? That would mean we took another step forward and AR proved he could stay healthy and play ball. I don’t see his seat being hot in that scenario at all. I see the organization being fired up with that and ready to hit the offseason hard to take the next step forward.
