what I meant to say was we CANT block all their blitzes.

I agree with the 4th down gamble....but we just cant block them with what we have playing today

well it probably will.... the oline is terrible

It's not all the o-line either. One of them was a product of Brown missing his block. Also speaking of the line most of the heat today has come on the tackle side and they are both starters. That's not good at all.

Some of this is also product of the score and the Packers knowing the Colts have already had to ditch their run game which wasn't that good to start with so they are just coming after the QB. It doesn't make it any easier to watch but it's what is going on.

On a side note Link hasn't done bad at guard today at least in the first half.

Yes we won, you'd be crazy to try and downplay how Luck was gettin beat up. I'm elated they got it together but alot of that was also Luck making plays and escaping.

not sure why people act like luck gets jacked up every time he gets hit. yes, he got hit and sacked, but the only scary shot he took was from perry when he came in unblocked.

and people need to stop with the david carr references.....not even remotely similar.

Well.... we're 4 games into Luck's career. He threw 31 passes in one game... and 45, 46 and today's 55 passes.

Doesn't matter if he's not getting jacked up all the time. With that many attempts and the numbers of times he's getting hit, it will take a toll... and even more important, it increases the chances of him taking a hit which will injure him. He's getting hit by big guys and sooner or later, one of them is going to hurt a knee or ankle, or arm, or shoulder...

The more we throw with that bad o-line the more likely Luck is going to get hurt.

Look, I realize once the game is on we're going to do what we have to do to win.... but I look forward to getting a new o-line in the off-season to protect him, and to improve our running game too. We'd be nothing without him....

I'm just hoping he gets through this season unhurt... :goodluck:

I said nothing bout him not making it thru the season, Luck is big guy and does a good with taking the hits I just said its tough to watch and that it can't continue.

Luck has been hit about a 1/3 of the times Rodgers has, and he's taken some shots as well AND over the course of the past couple of seasons. Luck is built to take those shots and thats truly the only REAL shot he's taken so far. Not only that, heck the guy was just looking to take out Woodson and the other DB on his 3rd and 7 run. Its going to take one heckuva hit to knock Luck out it looks like.

Blindside hits like that always make me cringe, especially when Luck is focusing on moving the ball downfield. The Colts o-line cannot allow a free rusher to go unchallenged and unaccounted for. That's inexcusable.

that wasn't his blind side .. I can't believe he didn't see him coming.. that was a huge hit

Typically, QB's move up in the pocket or at least slide forward to avoid getting flattened like a pancake and loosing the ball. Trust me, Luck eyes were focused on his WR's downfield. Sure, I believe the clock in his head was telling him throw the ball after 5 seconds or scramble, but Luck didn't see that pressure in green and gold bearing down on him like a runaway freight train IMO.

Well you are just going to have to get use to that because Winston Justice just is not a good player and the rest of the offensive line is not much better either. We are going to continue to struggle blocking for Luck and the running game until we can address it through free agency and the draft.

Also, as Luck grows as a QB his pocket presence will improve and he will be able to feel the rush and move around the pocket. We have to understand that he is still a rookie and getting use to the speed of the game.

That hit Justice gave up was inexcusable and I hope the OL coach rips him a new one. We lucked out because the refs made a bad call.

    • I gotta say you make arguments that you’d never accept from your students because they’re so superficial.      So saying Ballard has been mediocre to bad is tissue paper thin.  Why hasn’t Irsay fired this mediocre to bad GM?  Because he signed off on what Ballard did each year in real time, not after the fact.   Irsay knows Ballard has an eye for talent.  And as Ballard freely admitted in January, the Colts haven’t had more success because he failed to get the QB right.  These aren’t excuses, but it IS badly needed context — which you’d realize if you weren’t always looking for new ways to hate on CB.      As to what you and Moose “supposedly said”  there’s a simple way to verify.  Go to the Day 2 draft thread of Friday April 26.  It was between 3a and 4 my time when I saw it.  I believe it was recent.  Just add 2-3 hours depending on your time zone and you can see your conversation with Moose.   What was so astonishing, what makes me “prattle on” as you put it is how you two ever thought you were right?!?   Given your career choice you jumped to conclusions I’d like to think you’d never accept from your students.   Why you thought Ballard didn’t know more?  Why you thought you two knew better?   Ballard not only knows more, he knows dramatically more.  As I said in another post, he shared the tip of the iceberg.  He doesn’t share the part of the iceberg that you can’t see.  The 90 percent.  The absence of curiosity is stunning given your occupation.    Now, at the bottom of your post you brought up a new line of attack on me and I have no idea what you’re talking about?   I’m not an optimist?   Since when?  Based on what?   In my 12 years here, only 1-2 posters have ever made that claim.   So what are you talking about?     Finally….   You can stop calling me Sir.  It’s normally said with respect.  You don’t respect me at all.   I’ve extended olive branches publicly and privately, and both have been rejected.  Your choice.  So calling me sir is intended as an insult.   It’s old and boring.   Move on.   I don’t know why you “enjoy engaging with me”.   You take a beating.  But if that’s what you’re in to, be my guest.    Sorry this went so long….
    • He loves you, you just don't know it (sarcasm)
    • Cubs actually won one - beat the Giants finally.
    • Jared, put $50 on the Lakers to win it all. They are getting +4000 odds, you would win $2000, if you lose, you lose just $50. Hear me out, those odds will drop bigtime shortly because I think the Lakers will make a huge move to bolster their roster.    LeBron wins his 5th tying Magic and Kobe, Lakers tie Boston with 18. Perfect ending because LeBron looks like a hero + he just beat Kareem's record too.
    • So….  You’ve been absent 7-10 days (more?) and you’re back looking to start not one, but two fights!  Okie-dokie!      If you want to call me names — fine.  I’d simply respond that my knowledge is counter-balanced by those who THINK they know a lot, but clearly don’t.   On to your other post.  That one is longer, and so will be my response.
