    • Yes he will still be our starter in 3 years
    • No he will not be our starter in 3 years

He's our QB for the next 3 years at least, so what you guys going to do? Just bag on him. Honestly, I have no idea whether he will be good or bad. So far when he has played, he has looked good for the most part. Give it 2 seasons, then we can discuss this. He may stay healthy the rest of the season for all we know. If he doesn't than you win.

We can discuss it whenever we want. It's going to get discussed every week. You must understand that, right? The progress of a young 1st round QB on any team is going to get discussed every week. When you have a guy as talented as Richardson with the ups and downs he has, including the injuries, it's going to get discussed even more.

I just hope he can make it through two seasons without another serious injury. That doesn't seem obvious right now.

The biggest reason the Colts went 3-13 was that their defense was the worst in the league. Their offense was in the middle of the league. It was Peyton's worst season, but he still was first team All-Rookie. He was much better than Richardson is now. I'm not saying that to downgrade Richardson, but just because it's an obvious fact.

It was Peyton freakin Manning. My point was even Peyton struggled as a rookie. Josh Allen was terrible as a rookie.

It should be discussed but to say the guy should be traded or is a bust after 9 starts is ridiculous, you do understand that, right?

I don't agree with those opinions, but I 100% support the right of other fans to have and share those opinions. They may even turn out to be right. How do we know one way or the other?

I am glad you don't agree, and yes everyone has right to an opinion but give me a break, after 9 starts some of these opinions are mindboggling. I can see if the guy sucks for 3 years.

I’m going with the odds. AR has ability beyond anything the league has really seen before. Still, QBs fail way more than they succeed. AR is super raw and unpolished so needs a lot of playing time to see if he will develop.   Unfortunately that takes time to figure out.  I doubted he would succeed when we drafted him and I see nothing yet that has changed my mind. The organization and staff are behind him and will give AR every chance to become a franchise QB. I hope it all works out but I strongly doubt it.

This realist take is bull. You are not realist. A realist would say something like the Jags stink, the Chiefs are great. You just want to dump on the Colts.

A realist would say jags stink? 😁

In "Real Time" observations with real time outcomes are what make my takes on this situation a Realist point of view.

Come on. You may want to not give up on this player yet. You make think my trading him is an overreaction. Actually, I agree with you about my assessment of trading him. It is an overreaction to want to trade him so early because I so want him to be our franchise, but it stems from not wanting to get hosed in the backend for not acting upon what seems clearly obvious at this point. The obvious being that this kid doesn't look like he is going to be able to ever give an NFL team a full complete and consistent season for whatever reason and yes, that is what we all have seen in 9 games including you. Do you need 10 games? How about 17 as the Panthers did with young. How many games are too many to wait until we make a move because by then it might be too late. You stated 3 years. That's a long time considering how many years this team has been struggling now.

I truly hope I'm wrong about this guy. I will be the first to eat major crow if I am. All I know is when anyone gets compared to Cam Newton you run a gazillion miles in the opposite direction and our BrainTrust decided to sink their own ship based on what "could be" in terms of his talent when they already knew what it could be and that was Cam Newton and Cam Newton was a terrible QB. Nuff said.

I hear you! It’s been rough even though we are 2-2 and the season LITERALLY just started. Was it frustrating seeing AR go out again! Absolutely. However I’m not giving up on him when there is still so many games left to evaluate and process what kind of player he is.

As for his response on being injury prone. He’s obviously annoyed on being labeled something on such limited action. I fully expect him to come back even more focused when he gets on the field.

He had this look of confidence last season before he got injured for the rest of the season during the titans game. If you go back and watch he had the same look and demeanor during the Pittsburgh game before being out the rest of the game. Only difference this time is he can still come back this season and build upon that. He’s going to light it up next game.

Awards aside and the SB appearance aside, his accomplishments are debatable. He was more polished than AR coming out of college in the same areas, I personally was never a fan of Cam Newton. I think from a pure QB standpoint he was not very good. He was a superb athlete who at times did wonders as a football player. So maybe my bias in the QB dept here is taking over a bit.

People can have whatever opinion they want, including disagreeing with and stating why they disagree with someone else’s opinion.

I believe this is obvious to most. Maybe he should have said," working out too much makes for a weak brain." This may be AR's problem in a nut shell. Jamarcus Russel, Vince Young..............

From reading Indee angle on this I did not get Cam Newton sucks as you took it. That was your words. When Cam was in a good head space he was good. When he wasn't playing well, he could not recover . He was always inconsistent. We all saw him sulking on the bench instead of reviewing what went wrong and how to do better. This is a classic problem with great athletes. They can run fast. they can throw the ball really far. But they cannot play QB at the professional level consistently year in and year out and be the face of the franchise for 15 to 18 years. Manning, Luck,Unitas and even Harbough set the level high on quarterback play. Why stop looking  and settling for much less. Keep looking and trying to get better.

Just reading through the comment there is a lot of bickering.

Honestly any completely unbiased opinion/viewpoint with an understanding of football would say the sample size is not near big enough to make any fair determination of what AR is. However what we have seen thus far health and play on the field is not good, not good at all. By all metrics the only QB worse is Bryce Young.

There solved it

The first thing we need to do is stop chastising other fans for being realistic. We all have concerns. You do too as you stated above.

We have given this team and its player ungodly amounts of chances over these Ballard years, and it has been dismal. You are right though, there is nothing we can do however we should be able to agree when the duck actually walks and talks like a duck from a realistic standpoint.

It's okay to hope and give chances but at the same time, sometimes you don't need to keep giving chances to things already realized if we just removed the finger-crossed glasses some of us wear every day.

You’re right. You have every right to have your opinion.

Odds are stacked in favor of failure more than success in the NFL. Sustained winning is hard. Avoiding injuries is hard nowadays for QBs… More than likely due to the odds the Colts will be continuing to search for a QB in the future.

It is what it is.

I’d say Levis is worse than AR as of this season. He’s single handedly lost the Titans multiple games.

Sure. I support that, too. What I don't get is people saying others need to stop discussing this subject or that people are ruining this message board by stating opinions they don't agree with.

Respectfully the sample size is too small to tell he’s played and finished in what 7 games ? It’s hard to tell tbh we need to see atleast a complete season to tell.

I think (hope) it will all come together and finally click for him and he'll be our long term QB. If not we'll bottom out and try again at the top of the draft like most teams do until they get it right.

AR is an intriguing one because he's got all the stuff you'd want a QB to have. He's just gotta put it together.

If he can't put it together, he'll just be another in the long line of top picks who busted.

Ignoring anything to do with accuracy, level of play, etc., just based on his injury history through 8 games, it's highly unlikely he will be our QB in a few years.  It's a catch 22 with him.  If you don't utilize his legs, it will be very difficult to win with him.  If you do utilize his legs, it will be very difficult to keep him on the field.  I've come to the conclusion that his size is not necessarily a benefit.  The collisions are harder.  He goes to the ground harder.  You don't see some of the gentle drops and rolls you see with Lamar Jackson.

The fact that he's also tied to a front office that might be counting their days doesn't help either.

Thanks for this as yes, I sometimes don't adequately express my take I guess..Ha!! Happens. 🤷‍♂️ But you are correct. Cam to me as you stated was never a consistently good QB at the NFL level and that is why I was never a fan of his game. I guess it's all about how one views what an NFL QB should be or look like. I'm not a fan of Lamar either as I think he is somewhat in the mold of that type of QB. Great athlete who just happens to play QB. Outside of that Raven scheme, I'm not sold on the fact the Jackson could ever flourish. It's why over 90% of the time if Lamar is needed to bring the Ravens out of a deficit he can't do it. It's not his game, yet there are those who think Lamar is superior and he has achieved personal accomplishments. Ravens do consistently win though but it's an entire team deal as their defense is normally rock solid to compliment that run first style. We don't have that here in Indy

Do you remember when this forum was all hot and bothered about drafting RG3 over luck? How about the group who wanted Tua T. There were a large camp who wanted Cam Newton during the quarterback carasel sweepstakes with Matty ice from Atlanta. Then there was a point where Baker Mayfield wanted to come to indy, but he was all washed up. Don't forget when they could have had Carr. I know the NFL is evolving but, the pocket QB who reads defenses will always be king. When people say he can extend plays. All that means is the original play did not work, or the QB did not execute the intended play to begin with. Either way, you get your face of the franchise injured and put on the bench more often than not. Throw the ball away and punt and play defense. If the colts had a better defense during Mannings or lucks careers. There would be a few more banners in the rafters.

Hey man. Keep slugging away. You do adequately express your thoughts. There are those who refuse to see what is in front of them. They have blue colored glasses if you know what I mean? A lot of folks view football from a gm view point. I see it from a fan perspective and from playing .

    • I have rewatched the play that he got injured on last Sunday and after which he started flopping around like a fish.  Or worse yet a soccer player who fell like he has just been shot after getting nicked by a finger.   Honestly if he gets hurt from a hit like that, which was nothing in terms of hard NFL hits, and has such a low pain tolerance that his over riding thought at the time is to drop, and NOT PROTECT, the football?   I don't think he will ever last in the NFL.  I mean his instinct was to release the ball and put his hand on his hip.   Being honest I only see players who only think of themselves do that type of thing.  I am not saying AR is selfish.  I just think he is made of glass and can't take pain.    Watch the hit.  He got hit kind of on the back/side by a guy who is much smaller and who didn't even deliver that big of a blow.  It was a hit that all football players face every game.   I am not to judge anyone about the amount of pain they feel when getting hit by an NFL player.  I am sure it hurts.  But it should be very obvious by now that his ability to be tough and his pain tolerance threshold is very very low compared to other NFL players.    Not to mention, KNOWING THIS, he refuses to slide and even said after the game that he will "do what he do".   Play football.  Not slide.    I am not encouraged.
    • This is just wrong. Objectively wrong. Several tweets have been posted on this forum over the last weeks with statistics showing AR very clearly has a lot of potential whilst not playing like crap - despite the narrative some here want to push. Don't get me wrong - it's not been all sunshine and roses either, but his supporting cast was pretty % through the first 3 weeks for instance - AR was near top of the league in receiver drops.   Playing Flacco whilst AR is ready gives us nothing. NOTHING. It'll just be a wasted season and we've had more than enough of that in the Ballard era.
    • If you had asked me before this week I would have voted yes on being our starter in 3 years.  But after what he said?  I don't have any confidence that he will never learn to protect himself.
    • Sam will either be the backup or emergency QB. I will be interested if AR backs Flacco up or is the emergency QB.  I bet AR is dressed as the emergency QB or the backup. It’s going to be interesting what they do.
    • Haha yeah.  One thing a player should never do......even give the slightest insult to the home fans.   The people that pay his salary.   "People gonna talk, that's what people do".   Well now he can talk on the couch like all the fans that he dissed.   When you have played a grand total of maybe 5 total games out of what...22 now?   He really just needs to shut up.  And oh, learn how to slide.
