Barkley is hurt, Jacobs not playing ip to last year and frustrated. Pollard doing well. To me it comes down to the fact that they didn't have to do this and shouldn't have. That's my option, but u r right. This is an organization below 500 under Ballard and an owner who hired a guy off ESPN. So u r right. They know way more than me and have the stuff to prove it. Plus u r forgetting this. It now opens the door foe other players to pull this same act. Dangerous precident.

Well,  at least you're finally getting it.    Good to see

I only worry about them money if it is preventing my team from building a strong team. I don't like giving one player 15%+ of the salary cap.

Well naturally the less you give player A the more you have to give player B etc....

But if a player is worth the money or even if the amount is somewhat in the ballpark its better to have him than not have him..

Teams that are trying to win and acquire talent usually find creative ways to manipulate the cap. In the Colts case, its actually more about affording less money being in a small market than the cap.

But small market or not, Irsay always says its all about 'winning', and I'm pleasantly surprised he made this happen after earlier statements, and made the colts better and more fun to watch....at least theoretically.

Today is a good day for not just colt fans, but AR5 and the rest of the offense.

I only read a page and a half of this thread. Just got back from the casino and had to comment.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! haha

So happy to have Taylor back! This will give Richardson someone to work with for both of their rookie contracts. This team just got much better today! Lets win the division!

Some people can be upset about it. Rather that it took until now to get a deal done, or the price.

Stop being upset. JT is going to do nothing but improve the offense and open up the passing game more. Miss doesn’t have the home run ability that JT does, and I guarantee he’s gonna break a lot of runs this season for touchdowns. It can only improve with him back.

Let's move on from personal bickering. Thanks.

What impact do you think JT will make tomorrow?

I think he'll be limited. 8-10 carries. 2-4 receptions. Something like that. It'll be a timeshare IMO with Moss getting more than half the work this week IMO.

Yep, I want some true star power on the Colts. Richardson will hopefully be a star one day, but he needs Taylor on this offense to take the pressure off of him. The season is going to be interesting now with Taylor back.

Agree 100%.

How far is your casino from you? Hard Rock in Hollywood is about 50 miles from me and traffic really starts to get heavy once you near Delray/Boca and of course gets heavier the nearer you get to Ft. Lauderdale.

I prefer roulette over the machines & poker but we don't have it here. Seminole Indians hopefully get the sports betting legalized and then ill probably go their more often unless our local track gets a piece of the pie. It would make things a lot better than betting overseas.

Glad you and I have another thing in common. ....GAMBLING!!! haha

How do you like living in Florida? A lot of my family have moved there over the years. My wife and I discovered we’re more into the mountain scene.

Please elaborate.

I think he’ll be on a pitch count IF he even plays. I also think it’ll take him at least 2-3 weeks to get the rust off and adapted to the new offensive scheme. Therefore, I don’t expect him to have much of an impact at all in the next 2-3 weeks.

My casino is 1 1/2 hours from me. I go to cripple creek when I gamble. Play Blackjack and Poker generally. I'm actually horrible at sports betting tbh. The only time I'm profitable is when I bet on conspiracy theories in the playoffs or a sports championship lol. I'll get that right more than half the time.

Love gambling!

I guess I was thinking guys already under contract trying to get a new.  Edge did it at a time when a lot of rookies held out but yeah that’s still a hold out.

I mean....it hasn't been long.  Certainly not Siragusa long.  Kenny Moore.  Last year?  Not a hold out per se, but definitely a contract dispute.

Colts, Jonathan Taylor find a win-win

By Mike Florio

...The Colts wanted to pay running back Jonathan Taylor on a year-to-year basis. Taylor wanted more security than that.

Eventually (and against their wishes), the team made an offer that Taylor didn’t refuse.

The reported three-year, $42 million extension with $26.5 million in total guarantees replaces the situation that the Colts could have engineered with Taylor. Finish this year at $4.3 million, tag him in 2024 (if he’s still playing at a high level), and tag him again in 2025 (if he’s still playing at a high level). That would have allowed the Colts to walk away after this year or next year at no further expense

The full numbers eventually will emerge. When they do, here’s a guess that could be very close to the actual numbers. Taylor likely has a fully-guaranteed salary for 2024 roughly equal to the franchise tag and an injury-guaranteed salary in 2025 roughly equal to the second tag.

Any signing bonus Taylor gets now would potentially come from the 2024 guarantee, another sweetener aimed at getting Taylor to accept.

And that’s ultimately how deals like this get done. The Colts made Taylor an offer he couldn’t refuse. Not with only $4.3 million in hand. He now has plenty more fully guaranteed at signing, plus more guaranteed against potential injury.

The Colts would have preferred to play it out one year at a time, or Taylor would have gotten an offer on a long-term deal a while ago. The relationship went sideways because the Colts were fine with letting it play out on a year-to-year basis, and Taylor was not.

And so they found a way to make it work, with Taylor sticking around and the Colts giving him a level of security that, before today, they were not required to provide. It’s not great, but it’s far better than what Taylor was entitled to receive.

Colts and leagues new Triplets: AR5, JT, Pittman........defenses can't stop them, they can only hope to slow them down!!!!

With JT back and AR5's threat to run, this should help the receivers get more open.

Pittman????? Oh my. I hope they go after Higgins and let Pittman go.

Wow just wow. Desperate move from a GM with all the leverage. I just dont get  it.

Jim Irsay likely is the driving force here.

Im fine with it, it’s a short term hit, for about what I expected. Not a market resetting deal as it’s basically the same cost as three franchise tags

Keep in mind too, JT was originally asking for 16-20 mil average fully guaranteed… so he also caved

That's the rumour. Where in this scenario did he cave? He is coming off an injury. He is coming off a down year. He played on a team that had the 4th pick in the draft. He said he didn't want to play for this team. He lied and ended up on the PUP and got paid. He is the third highest paid rb in a marker where rbs r not getting 2nd contracts. He was put out there for a trade and no one offered anything substantial to the Colts or Taylor. U r right he caved and based on all of this, he got an extension.

Irsay and Shane were on board.   So much for Shane not wanting JT.

I was wrong on that but I never said Shane didn't want him. I felt that Shane wouldn't want him at this price as I don't view Taylor as elite on all areas.  What I do see is Shane and Ballard thinking they would probably be 3 and 1 with Taylor. Taylor held the team hostage and I am not sure that bodes well for future negotiaons.  Taylor 1 Colts 0.

To me, all that really matters now is, after getting the big payday...

Does Taylor returns to his 2021 form, or does he regress (and/or always be injured) ? as we have seen with other Colts "star" players, who received lucrative extensions.

So with questions like that why did the   Colts concede?

Didn't I just agree I was wrong? I  said  Shane would do the rb by committe and yes, did  I didn't feel that he was the total package that Shane coveted  if he was going to be paid elite money. It's funny as people always come back at me.  I say what I say and own it in the end. However 100% people on here will go down with the ship and never admit when they were wrong.

Shane went as far to say he came here because of players like JT

Right? I believe, with certain players, once they get multi million dollars guaranteed, the incentive to perform is lost. Hoping JT is not one of those. But based on his recent behavior, I can't help but wonder.

Good for him. I wouldn't cave to a player who held me hostage. I guess I just view things differently than u. He quit on this team for the 1st 4 games when he was under  contract. He lied about an injury. If Shane likes players like that, than so be it.

I guess Irsay and Ballard believe Taylor will not lose his desire, now that he's gotten paid, but rather give 100 percent? They are rolling the dice, as they have done with other players

You are talking about people that actually know JT.  They talk to him daily.   They have relationships with him.   None of us have ever met any of them.   I'm pretty sure they are operating from a much better vantage point

I agree. Taylor talks to them and he knows Ballard well. He knew that if he played this out, Ballard would bend.

I really like it. The summers are hot and humid but the winter is great. In my early life I I thought about moving to California,. especially SF because of the cool temps. But because of various factors I didn't, especially leaving my mom so far away. Both states accommodated my interests like golf, tennis, beach, and fishing but Cali didn't have greyhound racing which I loved and successfully supple!melted my income with...

But the beaches here are warmer than California so I really prefer that. We really enjoy going to the beach and fish the surf too.

A lot of people, that can afford it, have condos here and some where else like up east and split their time here in winter and somewhere else in summer.

The summers here aren't for everyone BUT the winter months are great, especially if its am alternative to very cold regions.

First….  My comment was that it wasn’t Ballard’s decision alone.   Irsay heavily involved.   A decision this big is never Ballard alone.

The Colts just signed him to 3/42 with 26+ guaranteed.   So they know him far better than the fan base.   You might be skeptical, but the Colts are a smart, well run franchise, and their decision would tell you they disagree with your view.

47-54-1 over the CB era. If that’s smart and well run to you, I got a beach house in Nebraska you might be interested in.

Andrew Luck retired.   Had anyone knew that was coming they would have had to re hire grigson.  Nobody would have taken the job.

Google Les Snead.  Talk to me about the beginning of his career.

When I was younger I knew a lot of retired Indiana teachers who were “snowbirds” that traveled to live in Florida during the winter. I’m only 35 so I’ve got a ways to go,  but I’ve already thought of having a place more to the south to go to in the distant future.

I’m fortunate enough to live in southeast Indiana where we have a decent ski resort, that makes the winters worth it at least while I’m young!
