STAHP!

Seriously, J. Williams almost ran for more yards than the QB threw. All this post and you blame everyone but the QB who you are making excuses for?

This is literally as critical of JB as I've been all year.  In all seriousness, what the hell are you talkin about?

As for the D: I'm more inclined to blame the fact that an elite QB has elite receivers who are gonna break one or two off, rather than be too hard on the secondary, especially because the secondary was missing some pieces.  At the end of the day the secondary was the least of our issues.

LOL.

Neither Watson or Fuller are elite, IMO.  Only one of the three you imply are elite actually is elite, Hopkins, and that's when he's on his game.

We lost the game because the safety help on the 4 deep passes they completed was either late or nonexistent, for whatever reason.  Watson wasn't consistently making many plays in the passing game, at least not in a threatening way.  He simply completed those 4 long passes against poor safety play or risky coverage schemes, which 2 of them went for TDs and another set up a FG, IIRC.

This summarises well what I, and others, have been trying to get at. When you play like we do, you increase the variance and winning/losing comes down to getting the rub of the green on key plays. Every game you play becomes a coin flip and we all know what the odds on flipping a coin are.

Really feels deflating when we played so well against the Jags.

Imo, I think JB could win us the Super Bowl but it is contingent on things. He is good for one great play, a couple of 3rd down conversions running the ball when necessary, not turning the ball over , toughness and leadership. Things that a backup can’t usually do.  However, If TY is out or Nelson is struggling or our defense allows more than normal or Adam misses a field goal ,  he is probably not gonna put on a Superman cape and win it for us like Luck could. But if we play consistent at every position like we should, we will usually win and I mean playoffs too. This style we play is playoff style but we just have to execute with our key people healthy.

Right, this is as critical as you’ve been on him all year and you’re still making excuses for him and blaming everyone else.

I’m talking about that he couldn’t throw the ball for more yards than one of RB’s could rush for.

If you didn’t see reason to be highly alarmed by his play after that game, I don’t know what to tell you. I don’t believe for a second that Frank ran the ball like he did just to be stubborn. I think it shows how much faith, or lack there of, he has in the passing game. If that’s not a direct reflection of the QB, I don’t know what is.

I’d also add Hooker in the stunk category for last night.

He had some bad moments, but overall the the D still held them under 21 in their own house. And Houston has arguably one of the best deep games in the league when Fuller is healthy. I've seen Fuller torch many teams, and also how just the pretense of Fuller opens up other WRs. Adding just that one aspect amplifies the difficulty level of defending by a ton.l

People on this forum have criminally underrated Fuller since he came in the league...I would take his talent on this team in a heartbeat. The only thing that has held him back is injuries. He is on a TY Hilton-esque career arch if not for those injuries.

Reich let us me down

TY let us me down

Please speak for yourself, no offense. Sorry, a peeve of mine.

The team played on the road, on a short week , without key players, and lost to a division rival with the same record going in. Personally, I don't feel let down at all.

Very well put. I also like how much experience these young defenders are getting. It really bodes well for the future.

My take(which I'm sure will be very unpopular here) on last nights game. I know it was a short week on the road against a divisional opponent again(thanks nfl). The game plan on defense was ludicrous. Made zero sense to me. Pressure Watson and he'll throw the ball to you. (one interception and two unbelievable drops, one by Tell and one by Okereke. So, why did we spend most of the night only rushing 3 guys???? This running game is incredible. You have to consider the fact we have a qb who completes about 15 passes a game for 150 yards. No defense is afraid of this passing game. Bottom line, we need a qb. I've supported Brissett since August when he was handed the starting job by default, but it's time for an open competition at the qb position. Darious Leonard is the top choice for defensive player of the year. Just another phenominal game last night. Forced fumble and recovery with 50 seconds left to give the Colts offense another shot! Oh wait, the refs said no. Where was the review? Another way to look at it- if the Colts had won last night and then throttled a severely inferior titan team next game we would have had a 3 game lead with 4 to go and we never lock up division races that quickly! Keeps it interesting.

Lost by 3 on the road to a division rival, split the series, pretty normal in the NFL.  It happens, not like the sun exploded.

If it costs the playoffs, well we shoulda beat the raiders, fins, and Steelers.

Still have tenn next week and one more tilt with the jags.

I expected much more tonight outta the passing game. ty must have borrowed Ebron's gloves or something.  That drop on 3rd was abyssmal.

The blown coverage on their BEST player was the difference tonight.  One play, it happens........

I'm upset, but whatever.  I still wake up with stage 4

cancer.......perspective people.

Praying for you buddy...i promise.

Thanks, it honestly does mean alot to me. I only mentioned it this time as a matter of perspective.

We (myself included) get so caught up in this fantasy for a few months a year that we sometimes forget how little it actually changes anything in our own lives or the lives of those around us.  We've all got something greater to contend with, I'm not unique in that.

I'll be in a room tomorrow morning with 50 other people suffering, alot worse than I am, and a colts win doesnt erase that for them.

We're lucky to live lives that can support the luxury of "fandom".  I have to remind myself of that far too often for my own liking.  Im getting better at it tho, perspective helps.

Thanks again for the support hope you and yours have a great holiday season.  My three favorites start this Thursday!

    • Bad analogy.  These rankings come out and can change week to week.  That’s why they do it.  No one scores elite grades every week.  They are number one right now.  The season just started.  Why is that so hard to understand?  I swear.
    • Yes, but the element of Richardson running more in the latter quarter also contributed to the Colts ability to run it with success
    • Totally agree. Now if Richardson is like throwing below 50% by the end of the season. Then maybe we have a case to worry. I really compare his career to Allen and I think of Richardson as an  Allen on steroids lol. They have very similar physical makeups but Richardson may have a stronger arm and is much faster. Allan has him in the build department.  Allan's rookie season was really rocky and if you look back. It really almost took 2 years till you started to see it. I just think fans need to be very patient as I think Richardson was even more raw than Allen coming out. You see the rawness but I also see the composure and making some good reasons. Yes, he throws picks but all rookie qbs do. Hell, I remember even Luck making the most ridiculous throws that resulted in interceptions. Just sit back and get your popcorn as this is going to be like a roller coaster. I really thought when people said playoffs. I was like.................really??
    • The Bears knew exactly what the Colts were going to do on their last drive.   That's what my post was was about.   Maybe you quoted the wrong post?
    • They are playing a sub par qb, Oline and a running game that averages like 4 yards.  The Bears actually scared me more on offense because at least they have the potential to break it open. Fields is a bad qb (passer) and just keep him in the pocket and make him play qb. Keep everything inside and the defense should be successful. Turnovers and field position is going to be huge in this game. No going for it on 4th down and punt the ball. I think this is going to be an ugly game lol.
