Could Darron Lee be a darkhorse for the Colts at 18?

I know people look at his size and peg him as a 4-3 LB but he's roughly the same size as D'qwell and Freeman. The NFL is all about sub packages and having LB's with range that can cover TE's now. He wouldn't be a bad choice IMO.

Not to mention college players typically put on weight/muscle once they get into an NFL strength and conditioning program.

Actually the rise of the dime LB/SS hybrid who can cover TEs is what the NFL is trending towards. I don't think coverage LBs  are as important. The most important thing is can he tackle and make plays in space. Borland was a tackling machine but he couldn't cover. I'm not seeing you don't need a coverage LB if you can find one. But I'll take Scooby Wright over a Deion Jones type every time.

I think he's overrated. He isn't a playmaker and doesn't really fit into our defense.

Saying he's not a playmaker is inaccurate. Not saying he'll be great or he's worthy of the 18th pick, but he's definitely a playmaker.

His draft status is all over the place. If we are going to go LB, I would prefer Ragland. I believe he can cover, and I think he will be a 3 down LB. I would prefer jaylon smith, but until the nerve is settled, who knows. We really need a LB to lead the defense, and our leaders as of now are old!

Ragland can't cover he's a 2 down LB

The LB I want is Deion Jones

His size shouldn't be that big of an issue he's only 5lbs lighter than Ryan Shazier was when he came out and I don't think he's having any trouble fitting in a 3-4. He wouldn't be my first pick but he wouldn't be a bad one imo.

He's a 4-3 WILL.

He is productive but he just doesn't fit our defense.

Monachino and Pags know that.

Agree. It's not because of his size that he doesn't fit. Most NFL ILBs are around 6'1" anyways. He doesn't fit because he isn't a downhill thumper with elite instincts and great tackling. He's a coverage LB.

People are always so desperate for a play making coverage ILB that no one stops to ask "Can he play in the box?" "Can he tackle effectively?" "How is he against the run?"

I hope not. Has definite potential, my never be the same though!

Of course it would be contingent on what our doctors say about his knee. I truthfully don't care he has to sit out the year since this years top end talent drops off considerably. This is a chance to get a top 5 talent if he can recover fully. This years DB class has a lot of developmental guys. The interior offensive line doesn't have a ton of great value at 18. Who knows a top guy could drop to us but won't know til the draft. The EDGE guys have a ton of red flags so if I'm going to gamble I'm going to gamble with Smith.

Good points. Hes a little too risky for me. I'd rather take o-line and try to keep Andrew healthy this year.

    • And let’s also remember that the Pacers have had, BY FAR, the easiest road perhaps ever to the ECF.   Bucks:  missing Giannis and Lillard for significant time. Knicks:  missing what, 3-4 starters?  Julius Randle and Bojan Bogdanovic missed all seven games. Mitchell Robinson got hurt in Game 1. OG Anunoby got hurt in Game 2, though he suited up in Game 7 but was pulled after just 4 minutes of play. Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson played while injury throughout the series.   Celtics:  no Porzingis, their 2nd or 3rd most important player.   Yes, injuries are a part of sports, but the Pacers’ run is a mirage.  Against healthy teams they probably wouldn’t have gotten past the first round.
    • Everytime the pacers made a shot down the stretch, the Celtics would come back and make a 3... 🫣 Sorry guys..   And Dallas is absolutely shocking me against the wolves.. I don't know about them in the finals
    • I find it interesting that Pacers fans have completely ignored Porzingis being out.  If Porzingis were playing, none of these games would have been remotely close.
    • I do want to say, although this series isn't going the way I thought it would down 0-3, this has still been a very fun ride. Making the Final 4 isn't easy no matter how you get there. If the season ends Monday, I will tip my hat to Boston and acknowledge they have the better team. Who knows maybe we will win Monday and at least extend the series.   Once you reach the Final 4, you play the elite teams and Boston has been the best team all season in reality. Losing Game 1 to Boston was a gut punch because we had it won, but really the only gut punch I have felt all playoffs. Pacers had a chance last night as well, was up 18 at one time (only lost by 3) but the experience of the Celtics on how to close games at this stage was glaring.    Great moments during this run have been *Game 3 vs the Bucks: Haliburton makes game winning shot to give the Pacers a 2-1 series lead. That 121-118 win in overtime was the series pretty much. Pacers beat a division rival in Round 1 of the Playoffs 4-2.   *Game 3 vs the Knicks: With season on the line, down 0-2 in the series, Nembhard makes a 32-foot 3 pointer with the game tied at 106-106 to help the Pacers win 111-106.   *Game 4 vs the Knicks: Is now called the Mother's Day Massacre, Pacers blow Knicks out 121-89, series tied 2-2.   *Game 7 at New York: ESPN's Knicks = Stephen A. Smith, Molly Qerim, Monica McNutt, Big Perk, Mike Greenberg, Doris Burke, and celebrities = Ben Stiller, Jon Stewart, Tracy Morgan, Spike Lee, John McEnroe - we ruined your summer! Pacers set an NBA record and shot 67% from the field and 54% from 3 in a Game 7 on the road to take down the mighty Knicks in Madison Square Garden . I hate Boston but hate the Knicks more.   The 2024 season achievements *Won 47 games (47-35) and clinched that vital 6th seed, stayed out of the playin game.   *Beat the Knicks in the Semi-Finals to advance to the Final 4.   *Pacers had the #1 offense in the entire league scoring wise.
