the most underrated colts player

CR91

I've came across a many that seemed perfectly fine with giving- up on him. They wanted to throw him under a bus/ or kick him to the curb for the next BIG THING/TOY. I'm thrilled he's a colt and i predict he retires one.

I haven't seen anything like that, and am curious. Can you provide a link or offer a source?

Sorry, i was just talking about personal conversations (not including this forum). I think most of us here can see his value/contributions to our team.

I guess that would fall under the category of "your friends" or "your acquaintances", and not "Colts fans", then. Just sayin'.

Andrew luck. We had talent when Peyton went down and still couldn't win a game. I think if we didn't have andrew, our team would be barely above 500. Just because we all appreciate luck and he's many fans favorite, does not mean he isn't underrated. I think our years with Peyton made us take the QB position for granted, and our horrible one year, wasn't enough to make fans appreciate the QB position. And the reason for that is andrew luck.

Jmo.

If Vontae can produce more interceptions this year he will be considered in that elite class. He is shutdown and has a lot of pass defenses to be considered as a number one or shutdown corner in the NFL but his INT are not yet there. If he improves on that and creates more INT this year for the Colts he should be a pro bowler this year. To bad he wont be able to play in the game though as we will be playing in February! GO COLTS! BTM!

It's a misconception that SHUTDOWN CORNERS have alot of picks (they usually have 2 or less) . They don't get many chances to make plays on the ball, due to them locking down an entire zone/field they roam in. When you have guys with alot of picks, it usually means they gamble quite abit or get thrown at alot, due to not being very good. The true stat to look for is pass break-ups/deflections.

That might be true but Vontae still drops to many balls that he should pick off. If he caught half of what he drops he would probably have 4-5 picks a season versus just 1-2. He said right after he signed his contract the next individual goal for him was be selected to the pro bowl and is he increases the numbers of INT he produces this year while keeping his shut down traits up he will make it to the pro bowl, but right now thats why he gets overlooked and is underrated as a corner to some of those other guys.

to me it's darius butler by a long shot. Vontae, to me, is actually a bit overrated. Some games he looked like deion, and others he looked flat out horrible. You can't be a top 5 corner with only 4 INTs in the past two years. I think this season Vontae breaks out and becomes the consistent shut down corner we've only dreamt of having. But as of now he is slightly overrated. D butler on the other hand is a ball hawk who has led the team in INT's ever since he got here.

Its hard to get interceptions when the ball isnt thrown your way.  Just like Darrelle Revis.  Once he showed he was shutting them down, people stopped throwing his way.  Just cause he doesnt have a whole lot of INT's doesnt mean he isnt good.

It's true that in many games vontae really wasn't thrown at for his amazing coverage. But for a few games, he was thrown at and scorched.

I agree with you on this but another way to look at it is we didnt have a true #2 corner with Toler being hurt. And with not much depth QB's took advantage of this. Seattle obviously has the best secondary in the league and Sherman had 8INT. So pick your poison should I say with Seattle.

If the Colts can get the secondary anything close to Seattle like = Superbowl

    • Wilt dominated Bill Russell when they played, what Boston fans don't comprehend for some reason is, the Celtics had all the best players on their team other than players like West, Baylor, and Robertson. Outside of that the league had a bunch of MEH players back then except on Boston. Boston had Cousy, Havlicek, Sam Jones, and KC Jones besides Russell. Russell could get away with playing a bad game on occasion and Havlicek or Sam Jones would go for 30 and they would still win. Cousy wasn't a great shooter but was a great Assist guy and would just run that team like a great QB does.   Bill Simmons has Bill Russell as the 2nd greatest player ever, that is what ruins his list and I agree with a lot of his rankings. Loved his book and love his knowledge on ranking players but his Russell ranking is simply because he is from Boston. No way in hell is Bill Russell the 2nd greatest player of all-time. He had too many offensive deficiencies to be that. To me Larry Bird was the better player compared to Bill Russell.    Simmons top 10 updated: 1. Michael Jordan 2. Bill Russell 3. LeBron James 4. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar 5. Magic Johnson 6. Larry Bird 7. Wilt Chamberlain  8. Tim Duncan 9. Kobe Bryant  10. Jerry West   Mine is: 1. Michael Jordan (we agree)   2. Magic Johnson   3. LeBron James (we agree)   4. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (we agree)   5. Kobe Bryant   6. Larry Bird (we agree)   7. Wilt Chamberlain (we agree)   8. Steph Curry - Bill has Curry 15th.   9. Shaq O'Neal - Bill has Shaq 13th.   10. Bill Russell - yes, he makes my top 10, great defensive player, great rebounder, a good scorer but not a dominant scorer and a winner. His 11 championships can be viewed in a lot of different ways compared to how players won theirs in the 80's-up until now. 11 is 11 though so a top 10 list without him would not like right.   He had West and Duncan in his top 10 - I don't. I have Shaq and Curry instead. To me Shaq was more dominant at his peak than Duncan was, and Curry changed the game with his 3-point shooting. Shaq is the only player in NBA history other than Michael Jordan to win 3 straight Finals MVP's (2000-2002), he has to be top 10. I never thought I would see a better shooter than Reggie Miller, then Steph entered the building. Steph also does have 4 championships, a Finals MVP, and 2 League MVP's + he has the most 3 pointers made in NBA history.
    • Caitlin Clark 1 Angel Reese 0. Fever beat Sky 71-70. You lose Angel Reese.
    • I'm all for doubling down and going EDGE in the 1st again. Just got to make sure we get the right one. Depending on where we draft, I'm okay with trading up a couple of picks to snatch the better pass rusher of the bunch. Since there will be a good amount of rushers, I hear, let's go get the better one. I can also see the draft being the opposite as this years. Most teams will go defense now in this draft, and very good offensive players fall. I think we are perfect on offense, that's why I'm okay with trading up to get the guy we need on defense.
    • IMHO , its all about perspective   If you treat Pierce as WR1, you will be disappointed   If you treat Pierce as a solid contributor, you will be pleased   - The man can block, maybe the best blocking WR on this team - The man has speed - The man can rotate in with our other WRs   I do believe that AD Mitchell will take over as a starting outside WR   The reality is, 17 games is a LONG season,    Pittman and AD Mitchell will be "fresher" for the end of the game as they are rotated in and out   The odds say that there will be injuries, and we could see Pierce be a starter on either side   I for one, WANT to keep Pierce thru his rookie deal (We will see after that)
