Toler....

 

They're paying $14.5 Mill over 3 years vs whatever we're giving Butler which I think is 2-years and $4 Mill...

 

Both were FA at the same time....   what we're paying both should tell you what the coaches think will happen on the field....

Toler probably has a death grip on that starting spot right now, based on everything that came out of OTAs and minicamp. If he plays terrible in 2013, there's no additional money guaranteed, so it's an easy release. Doubt that happens.

It's Greg Toler's job to lose. If he stays healthy, he's our #2. If not, Butler could be a nice #2 but I really love Darius Butler in the nickel. So barring injury it'll be

This looks very accurate to me.

 

I'd say Vaughn and Gordy are next to knock on the door with the undrafted guys, along with Teddy Williams and Marshay Green to follow.

I am hoping that Gordy and Vaughn upgrade their play simply because of the improved front 7.  I have been Vaughn's harshest critic here, but you cannot teach the speed he and Gordy possess.

 

I am also hoping we see some good things from Swanson and Price!!  We may be eyeballing the waiver wire too!  :)

 

To topic......without question Toler.  We are a Davis or Toler injury away from.....mediocrity.  I think the starting secondary could put the 'hurtin' on some folks!!  Go  :coltshelmet:  :coltshelmet:  :coltslogo:  :coltslogo:  :coltsfb:  :coltsfb:  :colts:  :colts:  :pass:  :pass: !!!!!!!!!

It's Toler for sure. I just hope he stays healthy, so we don't get another season of Vaughn at CB. 

I totally agree, but if he (Vaughn) is on the roster I am going to root for him to succeed and hope the coaches make the best selections that  benefit the Colts Organization!!  I have to remember sometimes....they see these guys every day and their work ethic etc.  :coltslogo:  :coltslogo:

No doubt it's Toler... He's the more proven CB of any CB "fighting" for the 2nd CB spot. He's quite talented and has good potential.

 

I just don't think I can say that Darius Butler or anyone else is better than him at the #2 CB spot.

All missed that, my apologies.  

 

I still don't understand why we don't bring Justice back for another season and put him on the bench.  He didn't light the world on fire, but he did ok.  The people backing him up didn't look like they even belonged on the field.

      Did Hou actually get that much better? This really does remain to be seen. I am of the opinion that the signing of Diggs is a signing that has been made about 2 years too late. He won't be bad, but he isn't a top 10 WR in the NFL anymore. I wouldn't put him as any more dangerous that Pittman, so WR's are a push. We have the better RB, Mixon is great and all, but he is not JT. We have the better Oline, and it isn't even close. TE's are a push, we have a lot of upside, but until it is realised im very "meh" on our TEs. QB - I would argue that Stroud is probably more likely to regress to the mean in year 2 vs improve. That rookie season of his was a bit silly, and they had an easier schedule last season too. If he really does build on last year and get even better, then our entire discourse here is probably irrelevant as we will have another Mahomes level QB on our hands to deal with in the AFC and within the AFC South no less. So unless Richardson is also a Mahomes level talent in that scenario, we are done for anyways. To me, our success in this coming season comes down to 2 groups on this entire team. 1. The QB (because... duh) 2. Our DBs. If we even get average play from the DBs, I think this team has the ability to win the whole damned thing (supposing Richardson stays healthy and is what we all hope he is). I would also argue that Houston are paper thin. If they lose a OL starter, Mixon or even one of their starting WRs.... they have a very big drop off. And injuries happen in the NFL. Just sayin...

      If he wasn’t fast enough or athletic enough anymore for linebacker, then he’s not going to be able to cut it at Safety where speed , quickness, athleticism are even more important.    Wish it wasn’t so….
