Redding/Johnson no go for Sunday

Redding out will be tough for the defense but you know what...next man up!  I still believe that the Colts will find a way to win this game for Chuck.  Nothing about our season has made sense thus far...so pulling this one out should be no biggie...it's only the Texans.   :D

We had Redding out before this season didn't we? I don't remember what games but wasn't it early on? He needs to heal up though.

And yeah I don't post all the quotes but there are a lot of warm and fuzzy quotes about Sunday's game too. :)

He only missed the Browns game. I thought he missed a couple/three games, but I think the other games were in preseason.

Yeah he's missed some time before and  our run defense seemed to suffer for it.  Nevertheless though...I agree that if he needs the rest then rest him.  Playoffs are what is important but that said I still expect the Colts to play to win with who they have suited up.  I want this team to come out jacked, fired up, and ready to lay the wood.

Oh thats it? haha I thought he missed a few more early on. But, he is a warrior. He seems to often have an injury and still end up playing and playing well.

No doubt I want him to sit this game though. And he is.

The injury reports though do not sound as dire to me as some made it initially sound but I guess we will see on Sunday what the scoop is.

Oh no doubt they should have some fun welcoming back Chuck:

Pagano, says they targeted this date, being able to get back and run out with the team is a blessing

Wow, people sound like they did before the GB game. We had a banged up Freeney then and not much at CB. If we have the kind of emotion we did in that game I do like our chances. But, if we lose we lose. We are tough to get by at home so we'll see.

Remember, this game is hugely important to Houston.   Win, and they get home field advantage throughout the playoffs.   Lose, and they don't.

But for the Colts, it means nothing in terms of the playoffs.   We're the same win or lose.

It only means something because it would be nice to win in Pagano's first game back and it would be nice to win as we go into the playoffs.

Nice vs. Really, Really important.

Advantage Houston...

I know. But, it sure would be nice to keep it going in Indy vs. them and our home dominance. :goodluck: I remember before the Vikings game this year reading that they never won in Indy either, for some reason I never knew that or realized it.

Superman is right too, looked it up and Redding has only missed the Browns game. As into not resting I am, I don't want guys who are hurt to be forced to play.

Really Remember the Thursday night game against the Charger......Manning getting pressure up the middle all the time.....Guess who was blocking.....Oh thats right linkencrap

Check out a Pull Block attempt Olsen failed miserably at from his left guard spot to right end, I believe in 2nd quarter vs Bears on Idonije, it was horrendous, There is more from this year I can point out, He was a joke blocking

I'm a bit skeptical of what the pass rush is going to be like with Redding and Mookie out. There's really no one left in the middle to half way provide it. Down to people like Geathers, Heard, Tevaseu, Matthews. Not good.

Crazy that the top 5 guys on the  D Line depth chart plus Chapman are not availble. Neevis , Maola , McKinney , Mookie and Redding. Absurd....

Good, rest them for the important game 2 weeks from now.

AQ and Justice out too, that probably spells 3 quarters at most for Luck. Don't want this kid to get his head taken off.

Play to win, but it's not looking good. Oh well, onto the playoffs!

Redding is always hurt. I like his inspiration but geez, Glass Corey, here we go.

    • Hope we can grab either DeJean , Mitchell or Franklin.
    • I’m pretty sure that most people would agree that if before the draft you were told you could draft ANY of the defensive players at #15 in this draft as if you were picking #1 overall we would take that deal…it’s pretty remarkable.
    • Latu: in 2022. He ranked first in the FBS in total pressures (55) and pressure percentage (19.1%), and his 10.5 sacks ranked ninth. He was just as good in 2023. During the regular season, he ranked first in pressure percentage (20.1%) and pressures (56) and was fourth in sacks (13). He had a midseason stretch of 5.5 sacks and 5.5 tackles for loss over three games.   More reason to believe this was an excellent pick.
    • Greg Cosell's scouting report on Latu:   STRENGTHS: - Outstanding length and frame for an edge rusher with natural twitch and suddenness to his movement. Explosive. - Phenomenal quickness off the ball as pass rusher both outside and inside. Beats offensive linemen with sudden lateral twitch. - Uses featured club arm-over move as wide-9 rusher to beat offensive tackles inside. Has balance to change direction and redirect. - Flashes effective inside spin move off initial high side challenge. Has excellent balance, body control and burst. - Does a good job as an edge pass rusher initiating and playing off contact with effective hand usage. Has multiple moves. - Subtle hand usage is a foundation of his edge rush, along with lateral quickness to change direction and redirect. - Uses quick, violent hands to break down offensive tackle technique then play off contact to win on the high side with burst to the quarterback. - Body flexibility as an edge pass rusher allows him to bend the arc then flatten his rush path and close with speed to the quarterback. - In 2023, always seemed to have a plan as an edge pass rusher, which was evident in the way in which he used his hands. - Is a twitchy, sudden mover with both feet and hands and showed explosive power in his hands to displace offensive linemen. - Effective inside at defensive tackle in sub-fronts working against an offensive guard. Showed ability to win with both quickness and strength. - Has active hands in run game to defeat blocks with both quickness and power, staying on-balance to make plays. - Arm extension in the run game both controls the offensive line and keep his feet clean to defeat blocks and make plays. - Plays with heavy hands to jar and control offensive linemen off the snap. Created movement at line of scrimmage. Has a strong feel to his game.   WEAKNESSES: - There were run game snaps where he could have played stronger taking on and displacing blocks — he got locked on. - It’s not truly a weakness, but the medicals will be closely evaluated. (He was medically retired at Washington.)   BOTTOM LINE: "Latu is one of the best overall prospects in the 2024 draft class. You could easily make the argument that he's the best edge pass-rush prospect in the class. He possesses excellent size and length to play on the edge, and his pass-rush-traits profile is high level for a college player. He has a desirable combination of athleticism, explosiveness and advanced/refined hand usage with multiple moves in his arsenal."
