San Diego (+4) at New England (1-13-19)

Recommended Posts

1:05 EST...Jim Nantz, Tony Romo and Tracy Wolfson on CBS

Low 20s and cloudy at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro..over-under 47

Phillip 'Old Man' Rivers (347 of 508, 4,308 yards, 32 Tds, 12 INTs) has not played at a peak in recent weeks and he'll get tight end Hunter Henry (who has not played all season) back in the lineup for the biggest game of the year.

RB Melvin Gordon (175 carries, 885 yards) will play but he is probably not near 100% and he''l face a Patriot defense that allowed just 93 rushing first downs in 16 games.

NE star 'Shady' Tom Brady (375 of 570, 4,355 yards, 29 TDFs, 11 INTs) has not been at his best this year but he still has good hands people in TE Rob Gronkowski (47 catches, 682 yards), WR Julian Edelman (74 catches, 850 yards) and RB James  White (87 caches, 751 yards)  plus RB Sony Michel (209 carries, 931 yards).  The Chargers have 35 sacks but Brady has only been sacked 21 times all year.

Like The Colts and KC, The Chargers (13-4) and New England (11-5) did not meet this season and that means the Chargers defense will have to adapt very quickly to whatever Brady wants to do. The Patriots split their last four games but again, with wo weeks off, that does not matter.

San Diego has scored just 42 points in the last three games.

The Chargers have had a very good season but it ends here.  There's something wrong with Rivers. He's not throwing the ball like he did last year and with Gordon hurt, The Chargers will take their whipping.  James White is the X-man. He'll run it and he'll catch it.

Nobody really thinks the Chargers will win this game and I don't think they'll come within 4 points.

Step back from this game and look at it again.

Chargers at New England in January with the Patriots healthy?

You know how its going to end.

Patriots win and host the Colts in  'Grudge Match II"  :hulk:

I'm over the SD vs. LA thing.  Living out of area is a big part of it.   SD fans are returning to the fold rapidly.  Winnimg does that.

Win or lose tomorrow this has been a fun season and as an oldster, I have been enjoying every second of it ♡♡♡

Philip Rivers is one of my favorite QBs ever. I would love to see him win a Super Bowl. Now that the Colts are out of the playoffs, the Chargers are the only team left that keeps me watching the playoffs. I think they have a good chance to advance against this Pats team. Go Bolts!

@Girlzarefanstoo Is Gordon playing tomorrow?

He practiced limited this week, but is active for tomorrow so he should be a go.  We're pretty healthy.  Can't wait.  Thanks for rooting for us ♡

Go chargers lol. Either way both the chargers and NE have beat KC so that should be interesting in ARROWHEAD next week.

I know win or lose today I am going be cheering for whoever comes out of this game against KC.  I actually don’t dislike the Chargers so May the best team win and end up in the SB!

Once you make the Elite 8 even if your team loses most people walk away thinking they had at least a Good season. Pats fans probably think it would be a fail to lose in this round because they have made the Final 4 and SB so much but that is rare. This should be a good game.

Not surprised by that flag.  (I did not see the play but Pats get all favorable calls.)

As usual NE will probably march to another SB regardless of whatever anyone else does in the AFC.

It's wwf bizarro level.

Dang, Brady is still playing at such a high level.

Hope the Chargers can respond before things get out of hand.

They going again. Julian Edelman and James white can be the only WRs on this team and they can't be stopped

Yeah, with all the KC/Lac/Ind hype this postseason the Pats are going to come in and smack everyone and say..'shhhh, we're still here folks'.. Lol

Woof. The Chargers D is looking mediocre right now. This is the first Chargers game I’ve really watched this year though.

Media needs to stop touting the end of Brady. He’s not going to be done until he wants to be done. The guy is so good

They almost always win. They will probably go into Arrowhead and win as well lol. Tom is the GOAT, Montana is 2nd, I have Peyton 3rd. I will stick with that.

This is more BB than TB ... he always makes a bunch of jags look like all pros on both sides of the ball.

This is getting ugly. I hope Kansas City is ready and not too cocky after beating us.

The Patriots are primed once again...

28-7 NE with 6:04 left to play in the second quarter. SD looks like the Colts.

    • Adam V,   youll likely never see this, but thanks for all the wonder years and memories. If you are officially at the end of your career, you sir, are the GOAT!    Thank you!
    • I some what agree, Fact is every team in the league face or have faced the exact same thing you said every season. So to me,thats not really the difference maker. What I do  believe what you said is we have a ton of cap space and the colts need to use it now, not in the next 5 years. Older fans like myself are dying every year and can not wait 5 years or longer. Get it done today, not tomorrow.I've a colts fan for 56 years now since I've been 8 years old and 2 only rings in all that time is totally unacceptable, for any team. Esp. considering we have Manning for what 13 of those years and only 1 ring. That really stinks.
    • What a choke job by the Colts yesterday.  That zone defense was getting buzz sawed.  Walker, Ya-Sin and Quincy were popular targets.  Sickening.  Every time you see those guys or anyone really, give up a catch in coverage, they're a full step off coverage.  Felt like rarely you saw a contested catch.   Then the putrid offense in the 4th quarter... Just the epitome of inefficiency.  I felt like I was watching a Pagano run offense.  We could not run the ball for (Matt Foley voice) jack squat.  All day long.  Our best runs were scrambles and there was an outside zone I believe that netted 13 yards.  But pretty much other than that, nothing.  Especially up the middle.  Apparently that was a no fly zone.    It was nice to see Brissett throwing downfield.  Hope he does that more often, but dear lord the accuracy of practically all his throws except the TD to Pascal was awful.  Throwing behind guys, the long throws looked like the ball had a parachute on the descent.  Plus they were underthrown.  A better secondary would have picked at least two of them.    We looked lost out there a couple of times with the timeout call after we had already taken a timeout.  The play was just as befuddling.  It's a wonder we even put up points on the scoreboard despite the play.  The JB  pass to himself, Marcus Johnson was wide open, but Glowinsky looked like he tried to pass protect with his eyes closed.  I thought that was a bad call, but the OL has to give JB a fighting chance.  I don't care for any excuses about young OL, you are a paid professional and you are one of the better offensive lines in the league, you can't miss that badly when you are in a 4th-down-do-or-die situation.   What's the capital of Thailand?  Yeah, there were 53 guys doing that to themselves along with the coaching staff.
    • he can throw a hell of a ball if the WR is wide the hell open but so can 95% of the league
    • Watch him come back next season to kick one single time for the 600...   Seriously though, no player scored more points then him and there's no one even close. He's the best and the clutchest to ever kick a ball in the history of the universe. Maybe even better than Pelé, and this is a brazilian speaking.   Wish a happy life for the old, but still young man.
