VT linebacker Tremaine Edmunds declares for draft

Recommended Posts

I've been watching more of him since he declared for the draft. Here's a hot take - Edmunds is the best linebacker prospect in this draft. Just for the record - the kid is still 19 years old(5/8/98 - he's the youngest player in the draft) and will be 19 when he gets drafted and IMO he has tape on similar level to that of Roquan Smith and I loved Roquan this year. The more I watch him the more I think he will be one of the players who will jump into the first round by draft time. If he fell to us in the second he will be an absolute steal.

I like this guy as well. Bellichick and Parcells like big ILB. Wouldn't be surprised to see Mcdaniels and company look for the same thing. Ballard loves players with unique traits. This guys size and range are unique amongst other things. I'm sure he will be on Ballards list.

This too would most likely be in a trade down scenario, but Edmunds stock does have a chance to keep rising and rising. Lets just say that a team like the Broncos, Jets, Redskins or Cardinals make Indianapolis a sweet offer for the third overall pick in order to select a quarterback. The Colts then possibly help their edge pass rush as well as the lackluster second level of their defense with one pick by grabbing Edmunds, acquiring more draft capital in the process.

For a team with a lot of needs other than quarterback, that might just be the ideal situation.

That reads like the Colts trade back and take Edmunds with their 1st pick. I don't think there is any chance that happens.

But I don't think it's out of the question that Edmunds could have a Haason Reddick-like rise on draft boards. What I want to know is if Reddick had been on the board last year, does Ballard still pull the trigger on Hooker?

Very likely still takes Hooker. He was no. 4 on our board so I doubt Reddick  was higher...

Can I just thank you for showing me this kid about a month ago?  He has truly be sensational to watch and is definitely my favorite player in the draft.  He's better than Smith and Barkley no question.  :-)

Curious how he tests...if we are going to come 3-4/ 4-3 hybrid defense maybe he's our Bobby Wagner or maybe he's our Brian Urlacher I guess we will have to wait but he looks like a gem if we trade down or if his stock shoots up no telling what the board will read like come draft day.
