Interesting "what If" Scenario

What if -

Manning amazingly is 100% by March 8th. All the trainers, coaches, doctors and even Irsay watch him work out and it is a unanimous observation he can do everything he did before, but without pain now. The news spreads like wildfire and it is all over the media that Manning is 100% ready to go.

What will Irsay do? What should Irsay do?

Same thing he will do if he isnt 100%

Cut him and resign him to a 1 or 2 year deal...

...all they need to see is improvement...He doenst have to be 100%...

..and you still draft a QB because you havnet seen Manning play in a game..

no way he will be healthy by then. nerve regeneration may never happen. it could, but the chances are pretty low.

You are not playing by the rules ;)

I stated in the "what if" scenario that they are back, at 100%. So you have to assume they are to answer the question.

Irsay: Peyton is welcome to come back on a restructured deal. So the ball is in Peyton's court. If he wants to be back in Indy, he will restructure. If he doesn't restructure, he will be released. Either way, the team drafts Luck. It's hard to say whether he will want to be back in Indy though.

You trade that pick for all you can get rework the deal with PM which he would do to win now and resign some of our FA's like wyane, matis and garcon

use those extra draft picks on getting the D up to par and OL

well you can take the trade of the first pick out of the picture right now. Irsay has already said and made it clear they are picking a QB with the first pick.

He should make sure we offer Manning a heavily incentive loaded contract that secures him for at least 2 years and draft a competent replacement. Signing Manning means we won't be getting a top 10 pick for at least two years, so take advantage of the opportunity now.

BTW: Manning doesn't need to be 100% to be worth retaining.

what " cool " name can we give wayne in that pose? because wayneing just doesnt sit right when i say it out loud lol.

Waning means leaving...for example a waning crescent when talking about the moon. Wayne seems to be leaving...one could say, Wayne is waning...yes, I realize how bad that was.

Hm...Regging?

You shake his hand, say thanks for what you have done for the team and the community but we are going in a different direction.

If he was 100%? Wow, tough call. I'd hope that there was a way we could have both Peyton and Luck... I just can't see us passing on someone predicted to be as good as Luck is.

I don't understand yiur thought process here?

Does the earth fall into the sun if we keep Peyton and also draft Luck?

Is there a clause in the NFL that states we can't have these two on the same roster??

We can definitely have both of them - if Luck doesn't pull an El-Manning(Elway-Manning).

Let's have our cake and eat it, too!

Irsay should buy a lottery ticket.

What WILL Irsay do?...... he'll probably tweet some Pink Floyd lyrics so we can all burn incense and contemplate the universe.

What SHOULD Irsay do?..... he should pursue an incentive based cap-friendly contract with Peyton and still draft Luck.

Given the scenario of the OP:

Irsay has front office and coaches tell him who do we need to put around Peyton to take next years Super Bowl, and how big of a PM contract will the cap allow and accomplish that task.

Based on the facts from the front office either pay the 28 mil or redo(if CBA allowable) or release and sign new 4 yr contract.

It's a "what if" scenario... of course I'd like to have the cake and eat it too. If Peyton came back under a different, incentive based contract and made it feasible for the colts to have both himself and Luck, that would be the ideal scenario.

I must say, I am absolutely amazed by how many people would want to get rid of a 100% healthy Manning.

Polian used to state that a GM that listens to the fans will soon be sitting with the fans. I have never seen better proof of that statement than this thread.

I don't believe them. The problem with a " what if" thread is that reality affects people's opinions, so its hard to get a accurate answer.
