Very debatable.

When you draft him you don't have the intention of having him 4th on the depth chart, that's what your given and then he progresses to the pro level. If Peters progresses properly he could be a #1 CB in this league, and if in our system a great #2 across from Vontae.

So really you're not getting a 4th stringer.. You're getting a prospect to develop who may play well enough in training camp/OTA's to pass Toler/Butler on the depth chart.

so you rather we go CB in the first round in the off chance he takes playing time away from toler or butler instead of a starter on the D-line, safety, or RB

thats basically what would happen with davis toler and butler

CB is a position where you can move guys in and out of the game based on situation matchups and whatnot, especially if you're trying to develop a young guy.

But more importantly, I think the team is going to draft the best players they can, Peters or not.

Terms:

Colts CB Darius Butler got a 2-year, $5 million deal -- $1M to sign, $1.5M base this year, $2.5M base next year.

Is this confirmed? If this is correct its a very, very good deal for us. He was awesome in 13, but injured last season.

We do. And we certainly sub our nickel and dime guys. Gordy and Purifoy combined for over 300 snaps last year.

And there's always potential for injury.

purifoy? he was traded. its always davis on the left and toler on the right with butler in the slot. how is that moving around

Because bringing back Butler lessens our chances at drafting him.

Unfortunately I think you are right we look at CB later in the draft. You draft BPA but if it is between 2 guys one has the chance to see the field immediately you go with that guy

um no he wasnt. he was playing ST. anyone recall purifoy getting defensive playing time?

Yeah he got defensive snaps.

It's really not the point though. The point was made a long time ago. You take the best players and figure the rest out later.
