@mchappell51: #colts HC Chuck Pagano: Stanley Havili had concussion symptoms after Titans game. Day-to-day.

@mchappell51: Pagano: Toler, Gordy, Landry, Herron day-to-day. Landry has a toe that's aggravated. Will be rested today

DHB is fine

@KBowenColts: Pagano said Bjoern Werner will start on Sunday.

@gregrakestraw: #Colts Pagano: Chris Rainey is a more than capable kickoff returner. Could be used in that spot this week.

If Toler ends up missing the game I think we should go with a heavy zone defensive gameplan in my opinion, Vaughn dreadful in Man, he obviously does not get his head around. He needs to be able to look back at the QB and see the ball coming

Toler is back, they have a whole article on him saying he is ready to face his former team

Edit: also @gmbremer: Pagano calls Toler a "shutdown corner." Happy to get him back this week. #Colts

Has Toler ever shutdown anyone? honest question. The back end does play better as a unit with Toler in there but I would never use shutdown and Toler as synonyms.

I got a big kick Sunday seeing him look back, see the ball, and quickly grab and pull down the receivers arm.

Waited a long time to see Vaughn do that. An excellent play. He actually made light contact and even got slightly grabby on the coverage, like the Big Boys do.

He made at least a couple nice plays on crossing plays too! Whoda thunk it.

:sigh:

Laron Landry & his feet problems

Can't blame his feet though, they're responsible for holding up a wrecking ball

I run between 70-85 miles a week. I have a toe that is constantly giving me issues, I've lost the toenail on that toe 3 or 4 times this year. When that flares up it is brutal. I feel for anyone with a toe injury.

I used to give players a hard time on toes and feet.  That is until I was so lucky to have chronic pain/arthritis in my feet and toes from years of football other sports...and 22 years on the job walking the concrete.

I know the team physicians and trainers can numb the pain for 60 minutes of football....but excrutiating pain in the feet/toes is simply horrendous.

I like Vaughn, and wish we could convert him into a special teams specialist.  He is god awful in man coverage, but he is a good tackler and fast.

Did you read Born to Run?  They talk about one runner who had his toenails removed.  Runners are definitely insane.  Since I only run short distances (5-10k's) I only consider myself a little insane.

I think when you're younger you can deal with those injuries a lot better.  When I played I never let a minor hamstring stop me from going out there.  Now I'm afraid to sprint because a hammy will lay me up for months.

I haven't read it, but I will definitely check it out. Yeah there is a certain level of insanity required to be a runner. My wife constantly gives me grief for bloody socks, and icy-hot usage.

Yeah I'm not looking forward to the condition of my knees and body in 10-15 years.

Nah, you'll be fine.  Running doesn't hurt your knees, but if you have bad knees it will hurt to run.

Getting back to Colts talk, I ran in the Back to Football 5k in August that started outside of the stadium and ended on the 50 yard line.  They timed the race, and also timed the last 40 yards.  I won't embarrass myself (more than usual) on this forum with my 40 time.  But I'm proud to say I beat the first person running with a baby stroller!

It is because it was my big butt in the stroller :)  I got tired of running.  Poor lady was running and pushing and extra 230.  :)

Hah!  I took a picture with the guy who pushed the stroller.  He was probably 30 years younger than me and buff.  I was happy that I finished in the top 10%.  But it was funny to turn around and see a guy pushing a baby stroller right in back of me.

Hmmm, no wonder the Colts didn't ask me to try out at CB.  At least I beat Rich Eisens 40 time.

Now that's funny. I ran the Indy mini for my first time 3 years ago and thought I was doing well for a first time runner (2:02). I felt embarrassed and probably made me pick up my pace when I seemingly was running at the same pace as some 70 year lady who was speed walking. Lol I thought WTH?

I played in multiple basketball leagues until I was 56 (I'm 59 now) and my big toes on both feet lose the toenails 3/4 times per year each. The blood vessels under the toenail will rupture and bleed at the slightest trauma now (the toenail will then eventually fall off). I sympathize with the toe issue, people who have not had this probably wonder how bad/painful could it be? For me 24/48 hours then it would subside. Take care of that toe, happy running.

Trent Richardson was added to the Colts' injury report Thursday with a calf issue, getting in a limited session.

Richardson likely tweaked his calf in Thursday's practice. Richardson's injury didn't really move the needle among the Colts' beat writers, so it's likely a minor issue. Either way, his status will be worth checking on Friday. T-Rich is behind Donald Brown in Rotoworld's Week 12 running back ranks.

  1. Pagano: Questionable- Trent Richardson (calf), LaRon Landry (toe), Delano Howell (neck).

  2. #colts HC Chuck Pagano: Out- Stanley Havili (concussion), Greg Toler (groin), Kavell Conner (ankle).

Pagano: Greg Toler. We'll get him back at some point.

Not really down about Kavell Connor being out since the coaches never play him

But our BEST run blocker & Greg Toler being out?

Makes sense now that Grigson is going with 4 TE's on the roster this week.

    • Appreciate the response.   A few thoughts to share….   i think Irsay only steps down IF his health deteriorates.  No use in comparing him to Kraft, his health appears to be better even though he’s much older.     But if Irsay stepped aside, here’s why I don’t see the daughters blowing things up and starting over.   If they fire Ballard — fine.  But if they also fire Dodds and Brown, at that point, I think you’d see the rest of the scouting department resign (if they weren’t fired too).  They will all get good jobs elsewhere too.     At that point, Steichen is surrounded by very few who know him.  Worse for the daughters…. There would then be a clear line.   With Irsay vs with the daughters.  And if the new GM doesn’t do well and things go south, then the blame won’t go as much to the new GM as it will to the daughters who decided to blow things up.   They’ll be the focus of incredible hate if the new regime makes fans long for what looks like the good old days of the Ballard years.      The argument for not hiring Dodds or Brown seems to be little more than Ballard-hate.  Those people want nothing more to do with anyone associated with Chris Ballard.   Guilt by association, not because of ability.      Thats why I described hiring one of Dodds or Brown as the easiest, simplest, cleanest move to make.  Much less risk.  But blowing it up and starting over is the far higher risk move.  Threading a tiny needle hoping to get it right.     By the way, if you fire Ballard and company and hire a new GM, who does those interviews?   Honestly, who?   Who would you feel good about conducting the interviews of the new GM?      Firing someone is easy.  Hiring the right person is really hard.    Thanks for your patience.
    • I just want to be on record now. If the Colts fire Ballard for whatever reason in the next few years, I have no clue what direction they will go. Just wanted to get that out there in case any of you were wondering my opinion on this.
    • I understand there are a lot of people that don’t know the story. I for one am burnt out on it. I do find it funny they “stole” the Ravens from Cleveland but whine about the Colts leaving. Sports bring out the best homers and team spirit.
    • Colts by 17. Going to be a rough week for you buddy.    Thats a joke. I have no idea but would probably lean towards the Packers winning if I had to choose. I do think it’s great you may have transitioned to a third franchise QB in a row. I hope Love has a great career for you guys. Always had a soft spot for the Packers and they would probably be my team if I didn’t love the Colts. I enjoy it when you guys are good. Best of luck this year!!
    • Packers have a pretty strong and balanced team. The defense was able to hold the Chiefs to a low score last year while the offense was perhaps the only one to score over 24 points on the Chiefs defense.    But really it’s hard to say as of right now. Let’s see how everyone fares during training camp and after their season openers. Lots of things can change.
