ESPN: Bortles has lost teammates, a "basket case"

Luckily we play the Jags and Texans again here in Indy. We should get our revenge and win both of those assuming Andrew stays healthy. Every QB in our Division is really Average at best and have played some bad Football(Mariota is Average too). Andrew is the only Good to Great QB in our Division. Unfortunately our Defense is so bad it gives these other Division opponents a chance to beat us. Every game Brock Osweiler has played against a team with a Great Defense he has been terrible and Bortles has just been terrible period except against us LOL.

If you look and listen to the whole tape,  I thought the most astonishing revelation was that the owner is now calling meetings to interview players and coaches about what's going wrong....

So, the coaches and the players are all in the room together and there's the owner and the ownership group asking players to give candid answers in front of the coaches.     That's the NFL definition of insanity!

That's how bad franchises are run.....    organizations rot from the top down.....

Yet the Jags are often universally praised for the approach they've taken. Remember that "this season will be the season" has been the preseason chatter for well... a number of seasons :P

Until quite recently even experts were of the opinion that Bortles was going to be a franchise QB, some even put him on par with Luck (in terms of projection). Outside of him they're roster has been rated as one of the best young rosters going.

Puts it into perspective that the NFL isn't an easy game and maybe we're not the only team with issues..... at least we've got the QB!

The Bortles situation is multifaceted. He's never had good mechanics, but they were improving last year, and his stat line looked hella good. The problem is this: Blake Bortles is the king of garbage time quoting myself:

Thusly, many of his numbers are actually a mirage. Add on to that he took time off during the offseason, rather than continuing to nail down his iffy mechanics, and he has regressed fully to his rookie self mechanically. Bortles himself has stated that he doesn't know what's up with his play, and that's kind of the scary part.

Here we have a guy that looks bad mechanically and statistically, doesn't have answers on why to either, and is taking the brunt of it from the media, and now also his teammates per ESPN. That entire situation down there has collapsed in epic fashion.

Top 10 worst defense in the superbowl era, on the back of probably the worst collection of linebackers in the superbowl era.

OK - The Colts are Bad.  Horrible Defensively.  But they aren't even the worst in the league this year - much less top 10 since the 60's....

Arguably the worst in the history of the Colts Franchise, set to be the 4th worst scoring defense on record, and they are an even worse yardage team. Also they have played worse offenses than any other team in the NFL this year. When adjusted, they are 32nd in almost every single defensive category.

OK - top 10 in COLTS History .. but your quote didn't mention that.  I thought you were saying NFL HISTORY.

Top 1 in Colts History. Top 5 worst in scoring defense in the Super Bowl era amongst all teams. Likely in the 10 worst defenses of all time if anyone bothered to break that down.

There are 4 defenses rated worse that the Colts this year alone. The Panthers, the Browns, the 49es and the Saints. There are 4 NFL teams since the super bowl era that have been worse than the Colts. the 1971 Bills, the 1973 Oilers, 1990 Patriots and the 1976 Bucs. As far as the worst in Colts history that is 1981 and the 1991 Colts.

I know things have not been good but not as bad as you make it out to be.

Actually the 2001 Colts are statistically the worst defense in franchise history. This defense is on par, if not worse than that unit depending on how you weight the stats. If the Colts defense continues allowing points at it's current rate, they will allow 458 points this season, the 4th worst mark recorded in the super bowl era. Nothing exaggerative about it.
